Damm... I recalled I stored away my Prince cds. But I could resist. I bought the songs and made a awesome EP for my ipod. Used the 3rd eyed girl image and voilá!

Good grief. Even after reading everyone's posts about right-clicking the link, I still managed to lose a download. So counterintuitive!
Love the sound of the song, the horns, the bass, the cymbals, but the lyrics bug me. The chorus, "Please keep your boyfriend away from me," I mean... I don't know... I'll keep listening and see if my opinion changes. | |

Listened to it a few times. Prince elevates it because he's Prince, but the song itself is unremarkable imo. The horns and bass sound great, and I'm hearing an 88 influence, which is always good. Like a Fuschia Light meets Van Gogh kind of vibe. Not bad, just not very exciting to me. I like BCW better. "That's when stars collide. I made one of those, but threw Same Page Different Book and the extended version of Laydown on there, so that I'd have a reason to listen to those some more. and the extended RNR Love Affair.
Also made a longer one with the orphaned tracks from 2010 onward (Cause & Effect, Rich Friends, Hot Summer and Extraloveable), for similar reasons.
God bless Purple & Gold, but I couldn't bring myself to include it. | |

I doubt he will. Most that want them already have them. But it would be a good idea. Maybe a fire sale of stray orphans from the last several years. $10 bucks for the dozen or so tracks in the last decade that didn't have a home other than a streaming "release" or "leak" | |

Lyrically these new songs are terrible....this is lazy lazy stuff. Does prince actually think that people who dug ballad of dorothy parker, condition of the heart et al are gonna appreciate this music. Hmm. I don't mind this song at all, it rolls along nicely. But as littlejim said, lyrically, where has the guy that wrote 'The Ballad of Dorothy Parker' gone? Big fucking difference.
