Where are the gullible rubes who said this perfume venture was a great move? Anyone going to come out now? It's time for the Prince loyalists to understand one thing. It's horrible being Prince because he has endless bills to chase. He has built himself this confusing world in which there is no possible way he can be involved in all these projects and not take serious hits.

The fans have built themselves a flimsy mirage. It's not fun being prince. He's trapped by religion, ego, fame, legal troubles, social paranoia. The list goes on at why you are in a better position than Prince. When you wake up you aren't tethered to hardly none of that hopefully. Prince, on the other hand, this is day to day life for him. On top of that any emotional connection he makes will only be because they want to be close to this brilliant character he has created "Prince" not the actual person.

It's too bad because he can't escape any of the trappings because he's addicted to getting attention for grade d products and half assed marketing promotions. Latoya jackson did a better job promoting her products than Prince. I can physically see obsessed fans grinding their teeth in anger at the mere suggestion of any of this. But it's the anger of truth. Prince needs to get himself a secluded home, change his name to Alex PurpleThorn & live the remaining time on earth in peace instead of photoshop hell & the sounds of tiresome plodding medleys of songs 20 years ago. lol

Why do you always make it seem like prince fans are at the court houses ready to release white doves?

You act like you want people to actively dislike Prince. Regardless of that kind of person he is (because its about the music period) , knock that shit off already. We already have a wakjob named **** for that. Geez.

Of course this makes the front page of a fan site. Barely anything positive about Prince gets a headline on a website dedicated to him. It's so stupid. It's the reason why I'm losing respect for this site and the people that run it. This site hardly has changed in years, the layouts stays the same, but when Prince has another lawsuit on him. A NEW FUCKING HEADLINE! It's bullshit.

Personally, I don't care about the whole thing. It's not my life, it's his problem and it's out of my hands. Of course people are going to go out of their way to call Prince an "idiot" and tell him "what he needs to do". I'm not his buisness partner, I'm a fan and all I can do is support him by wishing him the best. I hope everything works out with Prince.

I thought this was going to happen. He won't have to pay 4 million, but it's silly for him to flake out on promoting a product and then end up OWEING money instead of making it. P Diddy almost got sued by Ciroc for a similar arrangement. He smartly bagan promoting the hell out of the product and the lawsuit was quashed. Prince on the other hand just let the matter languish.

Why won't he have to pay it? Do you think the referee's report (which found in favor of Prince on certain issues and against him on other issues) will be rejected? Or that Prince will win on appeal? He'd better pay his current lawyers more regularly than his last ones.

By defaulting he lost his ability to contest liability. It's just a question of what the damages will be. This isn't just a case where a lawsuit has been filed: he was sued, defaulted, and now damages are being awarded. If the court awards a judgment, and Prince doesn't pay it, the perfume company can get a writ of execution and have his property seized, even if it's located in another state. Just like the rest of us, Prince can string his creditors along for a while, but eventually you have to either pay or the sheriff will take your stuff away from you. Prince knows this, too.

Do you have some positive news to share? There's no new album out--in fact he stated he's in studio rehab. No remasters, of course. The tour seems to be over, or at least on hold. When there is good news to share, I always see it on the front page. Right now there seems to be nothing going on but lawsuits and cancelled concerts.

Sounds like Revelations has a huge stash of unsold bottles, unless they dumped them into the Schuykill River or something.

In fact I see that you can buy it on Amazon from various sellers.

The whole '3121' thing was such a silly idea in the first place. Who, including Prince, ever thought that he'd honestly have the time or the interest to get out there and flog a product like this? I was hoping I wouldn't have to see him do it, quite frankly.

Dude could barely hire a staff to sell jewelry and cd's from a website... he had to know that this would go snafu on him!

electricberet said:

He should have released the perfume in connection with UTCM. Didn't Gene Siskel say that movie was an attempt to cross a Fred Astaire movie with a perfume commercial?

You know... a perfume bottle with that 'C☽' logo from Chris's notepad would look pretty cool...

Aw, crap - now I'm doing it! lol

One word: Bankruptcy. He can get the judgement knocked down if not completely out. I assume they would try to go after rights to his master tapes and publishing, but in the end , assuming Prince plans properly with the best team money can buy, I think a deal could be reached as long as Prince steps up to the plate with some cash.

Im not taking sides on this because no one knows how much tyme prince needed to promote the perfume..

but in is defense..

The Macy by my house was not selling this. I had to order thru revealtions directly.. me being a prince fan i wanted a bottle.. but a non prince fan isnt going to take the time to order this thru a company with out knowing what it smells like.. i only did it for collection reasons. that isnt his fault..

at one of the LV shows they were there letting people smell the different scents one night and people seemed to be kinda like .. yeah that one is better.. but not like wow thats amazing smell..

as for all those extra bottles i know a bunch went to Big Lot! store .. there could be more in your local area.. if you do call them make sure you say prince is on the packaging or they have no clue

Good point. I'd love to see the headlines on Prince declaring bankruptcy.

By the way, for those who think this site is horribly biased against Prince, right now on the home page I count seven positive stories (Prince on French TV, at the Hop Farm, at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Beyond the Symbol (2 stories), Lopez Tonight, and 21 Nights), seven arguably negative stories (perfume lawsuit, Brazil cancellation, sound problems in Germany, Guardian article (2 stories), LiveNation squabble, foreclosure proceedings), and one neutral story (Stevie Nicks). With the possible exception of the Stevie Nicks story, everything up there deserves to be there. I don't know how you can see bias there unless you're wearing purple sunglasses, or your idea of a fan site is to only report positive information.

I doubt the sales of the album even brought $4,000,000 in his pockets. What a terrible trade-off.

Yeah, sure Prince seems to have fucked up again. I'm just a bit sceptical of these figures and what type of costs they are supposed to include. Why would they even invest this type of money on such a flimsy seasonal product?

I saw this crap before it was posted on the org and opted to not start a thread about because I knew it would end up being yet another negative headline on the org. Didnt want that hanging over my head.

It is stupid with all the positivity this summer that this kinda crap makes the headlines in the world and on this site

I think something like this should be reported as news, but they should have posted at least some news items from his European tour too.

In general I agree that the chosen news headlines on this site has gone down the shitter.

They did mention his appearance on French TV on the front page along with the Hop Farm and North Sea Jazz Festival shows. On the other hand, the fact that Rhino issued Dirty Mind, Controversy, and 1999 on 180 gram vinyl, remastered by Bernie Grundman, never made the front page as far as I recall.

Mr. Crespo also rejected Prince's defense that Revelations had a duty to mitigate its losses once it realized he would not follow through on his commitments.

This was the defense that he entered into the record? Really? That dude has balls the size of my head.

If he would just once realize that there are people that put their livelihood at stake when they deal with him, and they do suffer when he flakes out. It seems like the parameters were so simple. He really seems to think that he is above it all and the rules for everyone else does not apply to him, unless it benefits him. "Do unto others..." Yin meet Yang.

This is bidness mfer....Prince made a business decision on this venture and for some reason, he decided not to promotion the perfume. I don't get how some of you make it into this big moral issue.

It could have been a bad business move for him if he has to pay $4M but if he pays less, it may just be worth it to him to not have to go whore some dumb perfume all over the media.
