"how's the family"-Prince got punked again

I love Prince, but I have to admit that The Time has a habit of kicking the "long haired faggot's" @ss. Condensate was a 12th round knock out blow. Prince is still the man, but he created a monster when he formed The Time. I was rocking the new Van Hunt joint hard, but Condensate is clearly the best album of the past few years.

I'd love to see Prince come back strong. I have faith that he will.

Sorry but I gotta lol at anyone who thinks the Original 7ven album is one of the best albums of the last few years.

FDeluxe on the other hand...

V10LETBLUES

I like the people involved with The Time and The Family. I may even like some of the tasty soft cheese by these two affiliate groups, but ultimately these new albums are completely forgettable.

How many of these threads do we need? You're not saying anything that the other 67 aren't saying.

Agreed with V10LET, as harsh as that statement it is. These albums are totally out of touch and offer nothing except a bland pastiche of what Prince used to write for them. Both groups seem to be great live, though.

call me lazy, but I haven't even bothered to try to hear these albums. My expectations are really low.

I used to hunt down alternate Prince-artists, not anymore.

I have heard the first single from O7 on YT - and it wasn't what I would like to hear - or buy.

The old Time is great, their 4 Prince related albums were funky like heaven...

But I guess I am too lazy to wanna hear more. Somehow it's just too late now.

(Tell me in case I am all wrong about this new album).

So The Time or whatever they're called release their first record in 20 years and now all of a sudden Prince is the bad guy? Oh, I forgot. Prince is always the bad guy, no matter what he does. And when he releases a record, we'll buy it anyway. And when he tours, we go and see him as much as we can. I get it...

Van Hunt was strong, Fdeluxe was kind to the ears, but not very interresting, while The Time I dunno. First impression was not very good.

Oh wow, O7s CD makes Fdeluxe's new cd laughable. Van Hunt, i dont like the new cd but the sound is a bit too experimental and different to compare.

If it takes 7 dudes 21 years to come up with 14 songs, how many times do you think Prince don't give a shit?

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

The FDeluxe CD was good but not great! I do enjoy listening to it from time to time. The O7 Cd is great but it's also a reflection of the fact that they have very little identity outside of what Prince crafted for them. At least FDeluxe stretched their muscles and tried different stuff out like letting Sussanah have more of a lead on some tracks. The O7 is the same call outs to band member and holla back vocals they always did. It's funky and it's good but it's not 'original'.

You would think that Van Hunt was a former protege the way Prince's name pops anytime he drops new music. I can see subtle influences on some songs but not a blatant overwhelming connection!

^The man is influenced by Prince but he sure has personality enough to look beyond, that's what makes his music so interesting, I'd say.

Prince is probably "the bad guy" because of his insistence to not let them use the name they ALL worked hard to create and maintain over the years! Ask Morris.... cool

hiscomparing prince to the time to the family is such an odd schizo arguement

Nothing makes me cringe more though when Prince proteges whom prince wrote and produced and played everything do their own thing and fams lap it up.

im sure somebody could make a really clever analogy

the only "asscoaited artist" i genuinly dig with NO prince involvment is ERIC LEEDS

i love his solo work

but the time that isnt jamie starr? nah

vanity 6 without jamie starr? nah

jill jones (THE BEST PRINCE ALBUM HE NEVER RELEASED) nah

The family(NO WAIT THIS IS PRINCES BEST..)

anyway you get my point
