I mean that's his THING, this is what he does, takes women, beautful women, dresses them up, and lugs them around to various events. He ALWAYS looks like he's dragging them into or out of an event, always. He's always walking ahead of the woman. Yes she's an accomplished ballerina and no one's talking that away from her, but at the same time, they are in matching purple outfits at an Oscar Party where they were photographed in the usual Prince way, as he drags her into an event. Just saying...
[Edited 2/28/11 9:07am]
Who's arguing any of that?? I'm not sure what you're sounding so defensive about?
The point of my earlier comment is that an accomplished young woman with a notable career is now being "dressed" by her (?) boyfriend (?) in a matchy outfit and led around by the hand to events where she's photographed and mistakenly identified as one of his previous ladies, plus certain fans speak of her as if she's a malleable non-personaltiy who Prince tells what to wear, what to say in interviews, etc etc - which is pretty much just like how it went with the many other women who were in her place before her. Even looking at these pictures, somebody could have told me that was Mani and I wouldn't have disputed it at first glance. Or one of those Twinzzzzzzz. He has a certain look he likes on women and he "dresses" his (?) girfriend/s (?) to fit that mold, and Misty sure has got the look now.
It's pretty obvious that he has a lot to do with how the women dress considering most of them have more or less the same style and outfits when they are out with him. And then they look completely different pre- and post Prince. I doubt Misty is going to let herself be controlled that way, but you never know. I wish Prince wouldn't be so into matching outfits and more into letting his woman express herself however she wants. But it's not like they are some brainless mannequins... |

Is it just me, or does he look very Parade era? I love what he's wearing, he has been looking so fantastic lately. My sexy Princey.
Misty doesn't look too bad either, she looks better in these photos than I've ever seen her IMO.

I don't get why you'd post this and that remark above about people "hating on" Prince dating an African-American woman.
If there are people asshole enough to have a problem with that, well that's stupid and sad, but why would you deliberately bring up that topic on this thread? Just to start shit? Why?
[Edited 2/28/11 9:33am]
What?? You posted something about the lady just being another"dress up doll" for Prince and I'm starting shit? Please! Anyway, I wish Prince and Misty much happiness.
Please, yourself. My personal thoughts about Misty potentially letting herself get the Prince Girlfriend Makeover and Treatment is hardly the same as you posting an inflammatory crack about people "hating on" her because she's African-American. You have seen threads on this site get derailed and totally ruined because of the race issue, particularly in regards to Prince's romantic life. Why you'd get enjoyment out of possibly sabatoging a thread by introducing that aspect into this thread is beyond me. And then to post that silly popcorn emoticon like you're just WAITING for the shit to start. Please, again. Sad.

You know every thread you post in you always have some negative post-which is really sad and how I'm I sabotaging this thread by mentioning a fact! The lady is a beautiful African-American woman and I am happy to see that Prince is even friends with her and if they are dating then it is a beautiful thing. That is my feeling about this thread and if that bothers you then obviously I am not the one with the problem here. |

Right. As long as she does it out of her own will and not all the time, it's all good. I'm generally very allergic to doing something in order to please the man because he likes the feeling of being in charge. And if I get an order, I'm NOT doing it |

Yeah, you get what I'm saying. I'm certainly not trying to be insulting to Misty with my remarks, I just think it'd be too bad if she allowed herself to become indistinguishable from the rest of Prince's now cast-off ladies. I hope you're right that she won't do that because she's got lots going for her and she should celebrate what makes her uniquely MISTY, and not mold herself into a the acceptable shape that makes her MISTY-PRINCE'S NEW GIRLFRIEND.

When Tavis kept saying african american 6 or 7 times, and I still don't know why he had to do that, she was looking like Mariah Carey or Jennifer Beals and wanted to correct him quickly, but she held back. |

How do we know that Prince doesn't ask the lady what colour she's wearing and dress accordingly? Misty seems to be wearing pretty much what celebrities would be wearing to an Oscar party. It's the matching outfits concept that disturbs me. Why must they match like that? Why does he insist on color-coordinating or somehow matching his outfits with whomever he's currently involved with? That might've been cute or kind of sweet if it was with one particular relationship, but when it becomes a running requirement throughout numerous relationships, it's weird and smells like a control issue or of somebody not placing the individual before a pre-conceived notion of what constitutes a relationship. For instance, if you began dating someone and whenever you went to a formal function as a couple, your significant other said they wanted your outfits to match (and in a very precise, already thought-out way in terms of color or style or whatever) and you KNEW this person did that very same thing with at least 4 other previous romantic partners, that wouldn't bug you at all? Not even a little? :lo: Cuz it would bother me. [Edited 2/28/11 10:12am] |

It's called opinion and we all have them and YOU shouldn't waste so much of your time tryna come at me like I'm hurting your boyfriend's feelings. P doesn't give a fuck what anyone feels.

Misty is Black American, because that is how she has been defining herself, long before her name was associated with being a dancer in Prince's show. Tavis didn't have his foot on her neck during the interview, he simply defined her as how she's allowed herself to be defined. Her mother was in the audience, and if she had a problem with how Tavis defined her daughter, she would have interjected, just like she did when Tavis inquired if one had to have a lot of money to get into that field.
Misty made history with the ABT because she is the first Black American soloist with the ABT, so it was important for Tavis to put that out there the way he did. Misty making history, as the first African-American soloist, with a majority-white ballet cast, will be an inpiration to other ballet dancers of color, who have the same hopes and dreams as Misty, of one day given that same opportunity to have a leading position in the ABT. She did say many are not given the opportunity, but they are "out there".I think it's safe to say Tavis meant no harm by embracing her racial background, and Misty's accomplishment with the ABT. It goes to show, that many things in this country are slowly, moving towards a more, optimistic direction for persons of color, especially given America's racist past, where that may not have happened for someone like Misty 55 years ago. It's also a good thing that Prince showcased her talent as part of his show. Maybe you should just enjoy the pics, and not focus so hard on her racial background and how many times Tavis mentioned it in the interview. [Edited 2/28/11 10:28am] |
