No need to apologize, and yes, I did read about other Black dancers, that made history within majority-white balllet companies.Wikipedia is not something I would normally use as an educational source though. Also, how would you know if she did not get inspiration from earlier dancers who made history before her unless you know her personally to know this? I don't believe anyone here said Misty was the first Black Ballerina to make history, but just the first soloist, from what I've read with the "ABT".

I also didn't get that same impression she was "putting down" other dance companies like the the Dancer Theatre of Harlem or Alvin Ailey dance company, but more or less saying that Black dancers with an interest in ballet, can see themselves without limitations, when she stated she would like Black dancers to get into dance companies like ABT. Let's not play like everyone goes to the ballet, because they don't, so what she said about exposing people to that culture, who don't normally have an interest in ballet or who have never seen a ballet performance, was not a crime.

As far as you implying that she is using Prince's name to run a publicity campaign, well if Prince had an issue with that, I doubt Tavis would mention his name at all during the interview if that was the case. It seems he kept that to a minimum. I also don't agree with you that Tavis mentioned Prince's name in a "diplomatic manner" as you put it, to let her know "she's not all that".lol you're jumping hoops with that assumption, especially when Tavis is one of Prince's close friends, and it's clear Misty earned her way to the ABT without Prince. I think now that she is being seen with Prince, publically, there will be all kinds of assumptions/criticism about her, as we've seen with any female Prince associates himself with. Nothing new.lol

[Edited 2/28/11 11:03am]

Preach it sis, I cannot believe the catty, dismissive, presumptuous attitude of some folks, (not just 3121) toward any lady seen with Prince, even to the point of twisting her words and actions into something sinister. disbelief

Neither Misty nor Tavis implied that she is the first black ballerina in history and for someone to suggest that after years of extremely hard training and perserverance that she's somehow using P to enhance her career? That is truly sickening if not downright delusional.

Anyway, I'm gonna enjoy the lovely photos and if the two of them enjoy each other's company then so be it. I'll leave all judging, speculation, criticism, and hair pulling to those who actually think that Prince's choice of friends is any of their damned business.

One word...MEOW! rolleyes

lol Exactly and you know they'll be all over it. lol I find that poster's "assumption" to be ridiculous, catty, and coming from a "bitter betty" who is making "assumptions", yet telling everyone else not to. lol Who would think all this would transpire from a few pics posted? Geez, unbelievable.lol

I think this is probably what Prince’s hair looks like when he isn’t wearing a hairpiece. It would certainly explain how he puts his hair through so much without going bald.

I agree with this.... unless he cut it since the NYC shows it definitely looks shorter than it did then. Or perhaps the wash n go save his hair a lil shrinkage which is common for African type hair.

Aight, can't believe I am gonna jump into this fire but I find Misty kinda boring looking. I hope she has the maturity to deal with a Prince like person cause her fashion sense and the way she carries herself makes her come off like a twelve year old. And after watching Black Swan, I'm scurred for the girl. LOL

---but that's fiction.

At anyrate, her dress is a mess and looks as if Prince designed it (it's got shades of Kim Bassinger's dress disaster all over it). If she doesn't have right mind to tell a man, "look, that dress is a mess, I refuse to wear it" then lord help this relationship cause Prince is repeating his past all over again. lol

I am wondering if he DID design the dress for her. I seriously have one of those scenarious in my mind where he delivers the dress to her via a purple chariot or some crap with a note like "U must let me dress u but first I must do a fitting" or some mess and then picks her up for this Elton John party. U know, woo-ing her. Cause y'all know it wouldn't take much to woo a woman when you're Prince.

I'd be like "dang this dress is kinda ugly" but I'd put it on anyway and get my ass dragged all the way to the party and back. BUt then agan I'm not a balerina and work me a regular 9-5 so I'd be more than happy to be paraded around by Prince to parties where celebrities will be.

P.org is crazy. CRAZY. Misty Copeland is a very cute girl, obviously has a good head on her shoulders, and is immensly talented. This thread has decended in to chaos, trying to break her down into little parts.

Her Tavis interview (where it was quite obvious she's not used to speaking about herself), her dress, her comments on her being an historical figure in the ballet world...jesus christ, she got a chance to kick it with Prince and y'all are tripping!! Not all, but a good many of you. WTF is up with this mindset? I think a psychologist would have a field day in here breaking down all the various issues involved.

Babynoz - I think you, and several people in this thread, are making snap decisions on my purpose in providing my honest impression of a persons publicity motives. Prince has a great deal of female friends such as Sheila E, Mavis Staples, Patty Labelle, etc. and he was truly in love with Mayte. I would think that a true friend tells a friend honestly their impression and also provides information if there is incorrect information being spun in the media about a friend. Are you making an assumption that if a woman is honest with a male friend they are being caddy?

If you were true "friend" of Prince as you claim, then why not call him and tell him what's on your mind...surely such a "good friend" has his number? lol

Prince has a PA who is quite capable of acting as his spokesperson if need be. Some pathetic, self appointed internet "friend" such as yourself is the reason the man keeps his security tight and rightly so.

I'm just breaking down the outfits. I think she's lucky, any woman would be to get to spend time with Prince. I mean I know he's got a repuation and all, but so what? This is life. U live, you learn. In the meantime why not just have fun and let the chips fall? Wear the ugly purple dress. Let him take you to the Elton party. Dance with him on stage. Why the hell not? It's Prince! She's got a fabulous career that I'm sure will remain so and maybe even grow more now that P's brought her into more of a spotlight to folks who didn't even know who she was. I saw the Tavis interview, I thought she was well spoken, and I'm SURE since they are both artists they have many things in common.

Do not make assumptions about my purpose in providing additional information. I think anyone who has a friend would not like false information being noted about them or someone trying to take advantage of them. From the other Misty thread:

3121TV:

This posting seems rather interesting. I am going to ask this directly and to the point. Are you Misty's publicist? Are you Misty or a friend of Misty? I find it rather suspicious that your account on Prince.Org was just opened January 2011 and your only posts are related to Misty.

I honestly am not impressed by Misty and it is my opinion she is another person trying to use Prince to obtain additional exposure in a market she has not been exposed to previously. I would recommend he not have her perform at future performances.

So who the heck are you? You're accusing that poster in the other thread of being Misty, while your only posts are ones that are critical of her and two about a cancelled Euro show.

You also use the term Jehovah....hmmm....

Good lord in heaven, give the girl a break. Stop tripping like you're all somehow involved in this man's personal life. Yeah, everyone has their opinion as you have a right, blah blah blah, but damn, this thread went from a picture to...what we have now.

Tis the way of the org lol
