Exactly, I feel the same as u on this one. Prince got it right this time if they r a couple and hope they r .Prince will do the right thing. I hope she is feeling Prince because he deserves a special young lady to settle down with and hopefully she is the chosen one.

Misty is simply beautiful

Remember he said on National TV "I ain't no fool" lol

I do believe he got it right this time! I mean unlike Mani/Bria she appears to have her own established career and let's hope she is not a fan and the only song she knows is The Beautiful One's" lol I find it interesting that people are just getting to know about this young lady and already trying to tear her down eek Comparing her to his other girlfriends looks, etc. and who gives a shit what was said about them on here! This young lady is a winner already in life and no one on the Org or elsewhere can change that. I hope they are happy.

So what you're saying is you're happy Prince and Misty are together as a couple and you really like Misty? Because I'm not sure yet how you feel about this subject, or her, as your multiple posts on this thread are very vague. falloff

But I'm confused. I thought Mani, and then later Bria, were "perfect" for Prince because they DIDN'T have careers and could stay behind the scenes and out of the spotlight (well, not so much Bria...), and focus their energies on making Prince happy and having babies. But now Misty is perfect for Prince because she DOES have her own established career??? Wha...? nuts

Zelijah - I am sorry but I have to provide additional information to everyone stating this person is making "history". I think everyone needs to do their research rather than reading information obviously being spun by a promotions campaign.

True Ballet History - Janet Collins, the first black prima ballerina to appear at the Metropolitan Opera and one of a few black women to become prominent in American classical ballet in 1951.

There are much more to list - but my point is I am extremely not impressed by someone who implies they are someone making "history" when they should be thanking the true pioneers who suffered to open doors.

I would suggest you read information on Misty Copeland under

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...y_Copeland

It appeared rather ignorant for Misty Copeland in her interview with Tavis Smiley to state she felt she was exposing to most of the people at Prince's concert the culture of ballet and to "People that have not seen ballet in their entire life." Well I don't know where she grew up but for her to make an assumption or imply that people who attend a Prince have not been exposed to ballet is a very condescending attitude. For her to stereotype concert attendees in that manner was very arrogant.

Additionally, during the Tavis interview she made comments such as she wants to inspire Black dancers to achieve dancing with "a dance company as prestigious as the American Ballet Theatre" and "a dance theatre of this caliber." It definitely gave the impression that dance companies such as the Dance Theatre of Harlem was not on "the level" (another phrase she threw out) of the American Ballet Theatre.

I will say this in summary. I definitely feel Misty Copeland is running a publicity campaign to take advantage of Prince's spotlight. I find it extremely sickening that she does not acknowledge who are the true pioneers in her field and at her young age of 29 appears to not have a clue of her own history or is trying to rewrite history to assist in her publicity. Based on my impressions of her public information and her interview, she appears to be someone who believes she is better than other people and will use anyone she has to for obtaining what she wants.

My impression is that Travis Smiley during his interview kept stating Prince's name to let her know in a diplomatic manner - she aint all that and the only reason she was most likely sitting on his show for an interview was because of Prince. Prince is an intelligent man and I am sure he is aware of the true motives of anyone who is around him.

Prince I Got Your Back

-Telling the Funk the Whole Funk and Nothing but the Funk-

Not a super-duper ballet expert here myself, but I know a few things, and..

She says on her site that she's the first black soloist with ABT, which, is true. Now if she had said she was the first black principal with ABT, then you'd have grounds to complain.

There's the corps - all the dancers who form the majority of the company and pretty much do all the background dancing - think of the swans in a ballet like Swan Lake - that's the corps.

The soloists, are the ones who get to do some solo work and stand out and get attention - kinda like supporting actresses in a movie, and corps are the 'extras'.

The principals/prima ballerinas, are the ones who do the lead roles, and are really well known. A principal will dance Odette or Odile (or both) in something like Swan Lake ; or dance the lead role of Cinderella... Alina Cojocaru is a principal dancer; so was Gelsey Kirkland, Sylvie Guillem....Lauren Anderson, a black ballet dancer, was a principal at Housten Ballet if my memory serves me correctly. Carla Fracci was a principal dancer ; Anna Pavlova... basically, the household names of the ballet world.

...Why don't you just admit that you're just really pissed because Misty might be dating Prince, and you're jealous, so you're reading all this sinister intent into everything she says and does, that isn't there. lol

Armpit - Do not make assumptions. I think you missed my key point about people acknowledging who lead the way to open doors for them rather than implying they have made "history" for promotion of their own selfish goals. There was no humility in her interview and her motives are apparent.

Do not make assumptions about my purpose in providing additional information. I think anyone who has a friend would not like false information being noted about them or someone trying to take advantage of them. All I can say is in the years I have been around artists in the industry in due time eventually Jehovah reveals everything at the right time and Prince is an intelligent man.

No need to apologize, and yes, I did read about other Black dancers, that made history within majority-white balllet companies.Wikipedia is not something I would normally use as an educational source though. Also, how would you know if she did not get inspiration from earlier dancers who made history before her unless you know her personally to know this? I don't believe anyone here said Misty was the first Black Ballerina to make history, but just the first soloist, from what I've read with the "ABT".

I also didn't get that same impression she was "putting down" other dance companies like the the Dancer Theatre of Harlem or Alvin Ailey dance company, but more or less saying that Black dancers with an interest in ballet, can see themselves without limitations, when she stated she would like Black dancers to get into dance companies like ABT. Let's not play like everyone goes to the ballet, because they don't, so what she said about exposing people to that culture, who don't normally have an interest in ballet or who have never seen a ballet performance, was not a crime.

As far as you implying that she is using Prince's name to run a publicity campaign, well if Prince had an issue with that, I doubt Tavis would mention his name at all during the interview if that was the case. It seems he kept that to a minimum. I also don't agree with you that Tavis mentioned Prince's name in a "diplomatic manner" as you put it, to let her know "she's not all that".lol you're jumping hoops with that assumption, especially when Tavis is one of Prince's close friends, and it's clear Misty earned her way to the ABT without Prince. I think now that she is being seen with Prince, publically, there will be all kinds of assumptions/criticism about her, as we've seen with any female Prince associates himself with. Nothing new.lol

[Edited 2/28/11 11:03am]

Preach it sis, I cannot believe the catty, dismissive, presumptuous attitude of some folks, (not just 3121) toward any lady seen with Prince, even to the point of twisting her words and actions into something sinister. disbelief

Neither Misty nor Tavis implied that she is the first black ballerina in history and for someone to suggest that after years of extremely hard training and perserverance that she's somehow using P to enhance her career? That is truly sickening if not downright delusional.

Anyway, I'm gonna enjoy the lovely photos and if the two of them enjoy each other's company then so be it. I'll leave all judging, speculation, criticism, and hair pulling to those who actually think that Prince's choice of friends is any of their damned business.

Interesting that out of all the posters on here you keep posting negative comments towards me since I appreciate the fact that Misty Copeland is a beautiful, respectable young lady no matter who she is seen with. You did make assumptions because that is why you responded to my post, as you assumed me and others, weren't aware or didn't research other Black Ballerinas in the ABT, prior to Misty.

You also "assumed" Misty was in that interview for some publicity campaign of her own by using Prince's name , yet how would you know this?lol So that's "assuming" as well. I have to wonder how you're screaming about "assumptions" yet doing that at the same time.

I can't help but look at the comment under your username, in your post, and not wonder if you're some obsessed, self-proclaimed, personal internet security guard for Prince. lol

One word...MEOW! rolleyes

Babynoz - I think you, and several people in this thread, are making snap decisions on my purpose in providing my honest impression of a persons publicity motives. Prince has a great deal of female friends such as Sheila E, Mavis Staples, Patty Labelle, etc. and he was truly in love with Mayte. I would think that a true friend tells a friend honestly their impression and also provides information if there is incorrect information being spun in the media about a friend. Are you making an assumption that if a woman is honest with a male friend they are being caddy?

No the question is what is your problem? U always make nasty remarks at my comments whether I'm discussing Prince or Janet or whoever. That is why eye responded like that in the first place. How about U stop responding to my comments & eye will gladly ignore your brainless negative jealous stupid comments U always make toward Prince. But then turn around and gush over a picture or per4mance of him in the same week......I think U are bi polar.........

Unlike you, I don't suffer from blind support of an artist. If you aren't gay, your obsession with him is pretty sick. You talk about his semen in your signature and you got a pic of you lickin your lips in your profile.

Girlfriend, think about your life choices.

oral pussy

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Okay, then please enlighten me! I'm sure someone as wise and knowing as yourself about Prince's romantic life could explain to me what I'm not understanding. biggrin Why the conflicting ideas on Prince being with a woman who has a performing career vs. a woman who doesn't? Which is "better" for him?

[Edited 2/28/11 11:31am]

What's conflicting about wishing a person happiness however they should find it? Interesting that out of all the posters on here you keep posting negative comments towards me since I appreciate the fact that Misty Copeland is a beautiful, respectable young lady no matter who she is seen with. Is it because she is Black? I mean something is bothering you? What is it? Tell the Org so we can help you out here-you seem to be bothered by something lol

Oh, good grief. Stop with the Black issue. rolleyes You're really really reeeally trying to stir up that ugly pot any way you can, aren't you? Knock it off.

And as for my replying to your posts, you continue to make indirect references to what I've said in earlier posts [your comment "Comparing her to his other girlfriends looks, etc. and who gives a shit what was said about them on here" was clearly a response to my earlier post -- a post which was NOT directed at you nor responding to any of your posts, by the way, yet you still felt compelled to remark on it]. so, I've been giving you the attention you obviously are wanting. biggrin
