Prince is finally getting "OLD"

After years of people saying how good Prince looks for his age I have started to notice over the past year that Prince is starting to show his age. I watched the BET awards again the other nite and as I watched Prince close his eyes while listening to Alicia Keys belt out "Adore" I looked at him and said "Damn he is looking old and tired. From 2004 to 2007 Prince was once again on fire and showed no signs of aging , but after watching him sitting on a stool last year performing Lotus songs and watching clips of that sad TWENTY10 tour it seems as if Prince is running out of steam. I am a life long fan and want to say hey Prince it's cool your getting grey and tired , but it's time to give the fans what they want before it's too late. Open the doors to the Vault and welcome 2 the dawn , my brotha !

Believe me, you would not say that if you had been at the concert in Vienna!!! Prince was on fire that evening, danced a lot, moved around all the time (about 2 1/2 hours on stage), was definitely having a good time and was at his best!! I was even surprised by his energy, because I had not seen him for 17 years and did not expect him to be as active on stage as he was. No sign of running out of steam at all!!!

And while I agree that his age slowly does start to show, he still looks ten years younger than he really is, in my opinion!

What a bull of crap honestly!

I was at the New Morning until 6h15am with a man who has more energy and vitality than ever. I was in Arras and Nice and let me tell you something: since he had his hips surgery the man is flying, dancing, moving like he had not for years.

How can you tell such bullshit when you bas your opinion on Iphone crappy videos from youtube?

Man the New Morning was the best aftershow I ever attented to. And since 1986, I have attended many.

Prince is in an incredible shape. He is lot more relaxed, happy. And again since his hips have been sorted this year the man is flying.

we are all ageing....its a nonsense statement...he looks damn good i think but age catches up with all of us...he looks better than almost anyone in their early 50s...but at the end of the day....i dont care how he looks...as long as he is healthy and continues to make music...i am happy to age along with him.. smile

I'm glad to see him picking his spots and playing when and where he wants, he has no business on a tour bus. I also believe in his mind opening the vault is like death, as long as he can write a new song he'll leave the looking back to us. I dont mind watching him today, he's a way better guitar player and his voice is still on point. When i want the energy the internet is filled with great clips of when he used to do the splits and tear it up. Best of both Worlds.

I'll have to disagree on the 20ten tour aswell, loooads of people have said how old and tiresome he appears with this tour.

Granted the set lists are somewhat tiresome with the fact he's performing the same tracks since well pretty much 2004 and especially 2007, so there is one thing to gripe about but in terms of his presence at these shows he's on FIRE!

Comparing o2 shows to ROSKILDE examples for me personally follows:

LET'S GO CRAZY (07) TO LET'S G CRAZY (10) - He's performing a fuller version and hopping back and forth with the opening part, whereas (07) it seemed alot more strained and of coure sadly condensed.

KISS (07) Really didn't care for the version I saw in the o2, the latter part he used his own guitar for the rifts when the twinz passed it to him, whereas at Roskilde he's prancing around looking extraordinarily camp, which we love and shaking his damn ASS to the crowd!

CONTROVERSY Okay nothing much has changed in terms of his layout since 07 but again bouncing up and down furiously and looked like he was having a great time

and DANCE WITH ME (DISCO HEAT)- he was going like a frigging RABBIT on heat for the duration of this piece and it just really didn't help I was busting for a piss at this point

I'll agree in the face etc he loks older than he did around the Musicology tour, but even still the guy is 52 Years old and although he's over generous with the make up sometimes he still looks fantastic, I agree he should also stop splashing out with the photoshop jobs as he's done lately but that's just Prince all over....

I can bet by the time a lot of us are his age we'll be lucky to look like this:

All I can say is from the clips that I saw of the European shows, he's most definitely on fire. He was moving in new ways, and reminescent of his older moves. I even saw one clip where he did the "one knee up spin"... haven't seen him do that in years.

Happy, energetic, and enthusiastically involved. His percussion duets with Sheila were off the hook.

BOTOX. Don't think he doesn't do it. His forehead is like a sheet of ice. It never moves anymore, and it's as smooth as a baby's backside. Also, people who use a lot of botox in their forehead, don't tend to sweat a lot (a nurse friend of mine mentioned this to me). You never see Prince sweat a lot in concert anymore - not like he used to as a youngster. He looks phony to me. LOTTA makeup, good bit of botox. I just hope he doesn't come out looking SURPRISED all the time like Joan Van Ark or something.

I have a hard time believing it.

People have been saying, for decades, exactly why Prince looks as good as he does - black don't crack.

That picture is more than enough evidence that Prince hasn't had Botox... lol...

And as far as him "getting old".... frankly if I didn't know how old he was I'd place him in his early 40's.

I still think he uses it. That's a rather exaggerated expression too, one that even botox can't fight. Black don't crack, this I know, but I don't believe he looks THAT smooth at 52.

Disagree.

I know people who have had botox. They can't do that with their forehead. They literally can't move it at all.

I'm actually the opposite, man. I'm not a negative person, despite what my enemies on the Org might say about me. I'm honest, I'm not negative. I'm forthright, not pessimistic. I mean, ultimately it doesn't matter to me if Prince shoots up or not (with botox), but these threads on "is he getting old?" are ridiculous at best. Why are we so concerned w/ physicality? Prince taught, for decades, to be who you are, to fight the man, to break the mold, and love God, embrace your sexuality, etc. Now, we focus on Prince's look, his "best era in clothes", him "showing his age". Dude is 52. Of course he's going to show his age. Most 50 year old's do to some extent. He lives a clean live, we presume - no smoking, no drinking, no meat products, etc. That helps. He's also gettin' some young poonany all the time, so that helps I'm sure. haha

People went bonkers at those First Avenue pics and Prince had on less makeup and "was showing his age", like it was some surprise. How quickly they forget the BAD smudging technique in Photoshop that someone used on the Musicology poster (the advert for when the concert was shown in Regal theaters). Zoom in and the wrinkles on his forehead were very poorly smudged out.

I guess I'm just realistic. Reality isn't negative. The truth sets you free, and I ain't about to be locked up. wink

Point taken ... I am a Purple Funk Freak so I usually do not have anything negative to say about P.

This takes me back to: 'Our hair, our clothes, we don't care'. P's not living that life anymore but I do not expect him to act like the 'starving artist' anymore and I expect that he'll wear the 'Latest Fashion'. The latest concert/tour he was wearin' a long-sleeve t-shirt and slacks, when's the last time we've seen that. Brother got loose too.

Some of us genuinely care about his well being and his clothes and hair. I on the other hand, do not.

The value of honesty, in terms of communication, is as important as the delivery. First of all. If you have to explain why your response is so bitter, chances are it isn't the audience which misinterprets it.

Compare that to me - I just don't give a shit. I might not tell you your dress is ugly unless you ask my opinion, but I'm also not jumping at the bit to placate feelings or sermonize. smile
