Take the rap outta "Sticky" and you have a nice song. Nice, not much more.

Ok, I can do without Walk In Sand and Sea Of Everything, and Everybody Loves Me just may be the cheesiest, most elementary song that P has every written.

Everybody Loves Me is going to be up there with No More Candy as a 10's classic!

I'm listening to the album, in full, right now.

It's out there.

Quick notes:

"Future Soul Song" is nice, and has a very similar drum pattern to "The Beautiful Ones'.

"Sticky Like Glue" has a very strong older late 70's and early 80's soul vibe to it sometimes. Prince does a rap/talk type thing in it like "Mr. Goodnight", sort of. Not bad though.

"Beginning Endlessly" goes on a bit too long.

"Act of God" - very driving beat. Prince talks about being evicted and paying taxes. lol (Really, the first verse is about that). "I got news for you, freedom aint' free. They'll lock you in a cell if you try to be..." It's all very anti-establishment, with pepperings of JW, but not harsh. It's all about corporations, money, taxes, etc. I dig the music though.

"Lavaux" very much sounds like something he could have recorded (musically) for The Time in 1981. Very synth heavy. Has a fun 80's vibe to it, but again it's more like a protege track, not what he'd use for his own. "Whatever path I choose, will lead me home." Talks a lot about being freedom. "Ain't nobody got no chains on me..." Musically, I dig it. It's classic Prince. Lyrically, unfortunately it's current Prince.

Everybody Loves Me" has another synth heavy driving beat, similar to an early Time song. However, the chord changes remind you of a Brady Bunch or Partridge Family song, right down to the toy piano sound in certain breaks. Very head-boppy. I could see Elmo singing it on Sesame Street.

The hidden track, track 77, is "Laydown". Sounds like some shit Eminem pissed out and threw away. This is the "purple yoda" song. not thrilled with it.

I can't give it an overall grade just yet, but it's not bad. It's not the best since SOTT, and it's not as bad as Musicology.

FU*K Me..... lol

It must be good, this is as good as it's gonna get for the org right there.... lol

this review captures how I feel right now... I have listened up to Lavaux... I didnt really feel either of the 1st two tracks... but it took off for me on Future Soul Song & Sticky Like Glue... and Act of God opening I love and back to back with Laxaux is very nice.

Nice so far

Dance... Let me see you dance

"Laydown" is as low of a point in Prince's music as "Purple and Gold" and "Hot Summer". His best "rap" tune remains "Facedown". This look like a censored remake with a Dirty South beat. FAIL.

And I may have to kill myself for admitting this, but Laydown is making my head bob! (except for those HORRID rhymes and attempts at being "hip")

Those songs right there sounds like he recorded them while waking up from a deep sleep. Same with "Lavaux". Right now the few songs I'm really enjoying so far are "Future Soul Song", "Compassion" and "Beginning Endlessly".

The lyrics and the "bounce bounce" thing threw me off to begin with.

Yeah, what happened to the days when waking of from sleep produced songs like 1999!

Ew, Prince, why did you have to rap again on "Sticky"? I have to admit I like the groove of this one but... this really left a lot to be desired, I think. hmmm

I feel ya. Sticky was the highlight of the entire album for me......until he started rappin'. Granted it only lasts for a bar or 2, but it throws the entire song off.

Walk in Sand

after a long journey

the final mile

(???) walk together

all the while

after a mild labor

we both smile

(??????)

both of us in denial

because nothing is beter

that a walk in sand

hand in hand with you

nothing is beter

that a walk in sand

hand in hand with you

another sun is rising

2 bed with no delay

the both of us go despising

not enough time 2 play

memories come and

then they go

somewhere far away

why can't we just get lost together

and spend each and every day

doing it

(chorus)

walk in sand

we have danced with royalty

and pimps of the like

u can't please everybody

but such is life

if there was only one thing

in this world that was true (just one thing)

nothing is better in this world that 2

walk in sand with u

(chorus)

"Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"
