And no, I'm not asking for a link! I'll track down a hard copy of the album somehow- ebay or amazon. It's a shame that this isn't getting a worldwide release!

Walk In Sand sounds like something from the Prince album, really retro, Still Waiting/Gonna Be Lonelyish- totally nodding to the past. I'll post a full review tomorrow, but I'm sure there'll be quite a few by then. It's certainly different-sounding from recent releases. Laydown sounds like a Princely take on the Black Eyed peas to me - as shit as that sounds, it's actually okay.

As for download links, its certainly out there now and I'm sure others'll be creating their own filehosts as you read this. The one I had only had 10 shots, I'm afraid.

Cool, some people are getting it early! I really doubt it's going to come out in Australia, so I'll have to go the ebay route, I think!

Can those of you who have the actual disc say whether there is a booklet or anything? Does the packaging seem like it will be protective enough for a long shipment to Australia?

The copy that comes with the Daily Record comes in a cardboard sleeve, there is no booklet. And there is no plastic case. I imagine this will be the same packaging for everywhere.

So long as the cd is posted in a stiff cardboard envelope, it should be ok.

So now that more than a few of you have heard it...how about some more details?

Better than expected? Same as before? Better melodies? More focused? Help us out here....cool

It might, and probably will at some point, i can't see the rest of the world having to wait too long after the official release on Saturday in Europe.

Interesting to me that Itunes and Amazon have nothing pre-order wise for 20ten. I wonder if us americans will be able to buy it.....

What is this trend of adding "wise" after almost any word regardless of how awkward and wrong it sounds?

Not sure how other people are hearing it BUT apparently it leaked on the same day some guy decided to hack The Pirate Bay and collect info on millions of its users.

Suffice it to say, almost every torrent site I check is down.

Well, LotusFlow3r wasn't out in Oz for a good few months after it hit shelves in the US. At least I could listen to it (minus "Crimson and Clover") through the website and thankfully, my bro in the US bought me a physical copy.

Unfortunately, the LotusFlow3r delay seems to have had an effect on Prince's stock in Australian stores, or at the very least, my local one. I don't see anything other than Purple Rain and Ultimate Prince in stores, and I need to replace my scratched copy of 1999. Apparently, none of the JB Hi-Fi stores even are stocking 1999 anymore. eek When I asked why, they said, "Well, we couldn't even sell the 4 copies of LotusFlow3r we got", and even though I told them about it being released months before in physical and digital form, they weren't impressed. lol

Not really, it's ballads and grooves. Compassion has the most guitar, and it's Princeish psych-guitar stomp - certainly not rawk. It's all hidden in the mix, ala Alphabet St etc. It's very layered, on repeated listenings more's sinking in. It's no SOTT though, Christ. It sounds like a fu party album to me - but have no fear of New Power Soul production. Oddness and uniqueness abounds in some of these tracks.

I am on my 4th listen now, and in my personal opinion, i like it very much, it is not a radical departure by any means, but the funk is back, it sounds like a fun album, not too cluttered in sound.

Maybe if i was a musician i would be able to explain it better.......but i'm not.

Nice couple of ballads on there, but the majority of the tracks are very funky.

It is difficult to compare it to another album because different peoples opinions differ so much.

In my opinion it is sounding similar to MPLSound, but that may just be the use of the Linn drums.

I am trying not to say it is a great album, because i have only listened to it 4 times, and i have been caught up in the excitement of getting a new Prince album.

Sounds good though.

There are no hard guitar solos on it, the guitar is more funk rhythm than outright solos.

....so is this album more in the spirit of 1999 or controversy style & production than MPLS or NPS/3121/PE style & sound?

Oh, and let me say a big thank you to everyone who is sharing their thoughts upon hearing the album. I know it's annoying to be bombarded with questions and such, but it's become hard to believe a lot of "independent" reviews from the magazines that are including the album. Of course they're going to say it's an amazing album- I'm sure that was part of the deal!

Compassion really is special. I don't even have a drink in me. Great, exhilerating middle eight which turs the song on its head. It actually sounds like Prince, no-one else could do it. Twists and turns, madness, a woman's laugh at the end.

Beginning Endlessly - the angular synth riff you've all already heard, triple-tracked vocals on the verses, again a wonderfully unexpected oriental-style middle eight which sets the song alight with multi-tracked operatic eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees in the endlessleeeeeee. Really fucking retro-futuristic. Mad, bongo lyrics about stardust, exploring anatomy and OH OH OH chant that actually doesn;t sounds cheesy. Loving this track.
