It would be nice if the old collectors forum could be inserted into this HQ reincarnation.

MoQuake isn't a Housequake reincarnation but something new. It will however, have some of the flavour of Housequake due to the team behind it.

The old collectors forum was very popular on HQ so it would make sense to do something similar for MQ.

Thanks for the information.

Let me guess....Is it opening on June 7?

Oooh I'm now looking forward to Moquake.com. The preview page already looks nice and clean. Hope it's a nice tidy design (sure it will be). Are you part of this "team" Gav?

If it has some of the Housequake team behind it, you know it's gonna be great. I'm very eager to see this.

an early BIG thank you for all of those involved.

The main difference was the unauthorised videos forum (iow the blatant copyright infringements on housequake - watch out now tremolina, they are coming to get you for that lol!)

The other is the people. HQ people don´t like the org, as you can see they all claim on this thread. They think the org is boring, immature, no quality discussion etc. Yet it has been 2 or 3 years that most HQ people are on the org, due to HQ shutting down, but all they have managed to do is make the prince forum even more boring and less interesting. Look at what this forum has turned into. A hell hole full of fanatics and ´interesting discussions´ about prince´s hair, private prince photo collections, or the latest fashion he wears. You all call that ´quality discussion´ ? lol

I hope housequake opens up again. Then this forum can get a little QUALITY back. Yeah it really used to have some, but not anymore since the quake went down.

Isn't it about time we stopped these discussions? It's like blaming people that they prefer dark chocolate to the Milk chocolate you like.

I never disliked the Org, but HQ was easier for me to find info. Having the two sites created a nice choice depending on where you felt like spending some time. Both sites serve(d) their purpose and catered for a commun public.

Do we really want just one flavour of prince site or forum? Why would one be a problem for the other? It's not that any money is made out of it. People just want to read about Prince and it's normal that they search for the sites where they feel they find what they need, how they need it etc, and switch in between, depending on the moment.

I guess you didn't notice the deleted threads (left and right) on the Org yet.
Also the bans without explanation nor communication, the vague organisational structure if you want something to be done, the corporately enforced restrictive rules w.r.t. posting about certain items, etc, etc.
It is very close to what HQ was in the final stages.

The mods only delete threads here when it goes against org rules.
The rules are clearly posted and folks are just too stupid to understand them though.

People are always complaining that my threads never get locked (which isn't true--some of them do get locked). But it's not about the material being stupid or offensive so much as the material violating site rules. Just stay within site rules ,and everything is fine.

However, on housequake a thread could get shut down just because the mod didn't like it.

Now thats a lie. biggrin The mods do whatever they want, when they want, how they want. Their rules change according to their mood or those they favor, as Ive seen.

I keep seeing fans refer to that now defunct website and claim that it was the greatest thing in the world. What did it have that this site does not?I never got to see said website before it was closed years ago and I have always wondered what could possibly make it seem better than this site? Not trying to start any kind of war over which site is better I just want to know if it had anything that was super spectacular or the like.

Some one fill me in damn it!

It WASN'T the greatest thing in the world. It was actually quite boring compared to the org, and the types of threads allowed were nowhere near as colorful as on the org.

That being said, it had 100 x 100 avatars (moving gifs allowed), a vast and interesting unauthorized music video section, a decent image library, and a more European presence.

When it shut down half those crazy fuckers ended up here and polluted this palace.

I hate you people. fuck off.

Might as well say it. lol

I think that's quite out of order. Any website forum creator has the right to post rules, and you - as a user - can decide wether or not you want to abide by those rules.

In light of the droplets of information as to why HQ shut down last year, I think Aaron and the mods should be applauded for putting up with the hassles they received from Prince's 'people' for as long as they did.

Thanks! I love you too!smile

BTW HQ and the org were two different sites and that is why they could exist next to each other. Everybody had their own preference. Why there is still such hostility I don't understand. And posting stuff about HQ that is not true to make your point is just a sign of weakness. Just say you don't like the website.

Very cool, Gav. Can't wait 2 check it out.

As 4 the very strange discussion about Housequake... I loved that site. It was more focused on the music, and all I remember is people respecting each other there, with few exceptions.

This argument over what has happened 2 the ORG and why, blaming ex-Housequake members is baseless crap.

MANY here were members of both sites.

If one were 2 assign a reason 2 the degradation of Prince discussions here, then a much more likely source would be Prince's "reemergence" in the mainstream's consciousness, starting around 2004.

PEACE!

Basically if I wanted to laugh or see something interesting unrelated to Prince about a movie, show, news, person, or porn picture I'd go to the org. Or if I wanted to get the current opinions of Prince's music by his native audience.

If I wanted to know what Prince was up to, get information about recordings (unreleased and legit), see new interviews conducted with people that worked with Prince, I'd go to Housequake.

As an HQ expatriate, I gotta say HQ was cooler than the org. The pics, the rare vids, the album specials (so artfully dressed they were). These three components really did for me.

Do you know what fucked up Housequake and why it eventually closed down? Aaron wanted donations to run the site, if you paid him monthly or yearly you got a little gold star next to your name

that is why the org is still here and HQ died a bad death
Prince and his people took notice of this site making money off of his music and image, and ok Aaron probably only made a small amount of money and used it to pay to run the site but it was the start of the end

also every Prince picture that was in the gallery had the HQ logo on it, and not just the scanned pictures, the Housequake mods took the site and themselves way too seriously and ended up pissing off Prince big time

^ Yeah, seems Prince watches a site's non-profit status real close these days. He can't wait to twist some nipples. I don't know if that's why the org dropped the ads and t-shirt sales, but I would assume so.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Actually, I think it was Prince who pissed off Aaron so he shut down his site. Prince's strongarm kept putting limitations on posting pics, etc with threats of lawsuit. Isn't this is why the official Prince fan club stopped (Eileen?), Uptown magazine stopped, etc...

I gravitated more towards HQ, only occasionally checking the Org. It was sad when it shut down, I guess he just finally had to throw his hands up in frustration after years of investing time and energy just to get slapped with one injunction after another. Pretty pathetic state of affairs, I lost some friends when the site closed down as we would only see each other on HQ.

So what happened legally? Can't seem to find any details on that bit.I don't see how Prince could legally force a fan site to shut down.I heard something about not being able to even post the lyrics to his songs although that sounds like a bit of rubbish to me.

In regards to that locked thread there was that famous picture of Prince with his stuff visible through the fabric.I remember there being some debate as to if it was photoshopped.I took one look at that thread and laughed my ass off although I don't think that Prince would find it funny. If I were the artist I certainly wouldn't want people discussing my body like that.

What a load of crap!! How easy is it to speak without knowing what you're talking about.

Running the site was expensive. For YEARS, Aaron paid all the costs himself. When that became more of a charge, those of us who wanted to sent monthly or yearly contributions. That's not 'making money off the site' in my book.

Prince wasn't pissed off because of the donations to the site. He was pissed off about EVERYTHING... No pics, no vids, no symbols, no avatars, change this, change that, I don't like this, I don't like that...

Aaron spent YEARS fighting with the guy and trying to not have his pants pulled down. Finally, enough was enough.

Some individuals wanted to circulate the story that the closing was just 'a tantrum' on behalf of Aaron and that it could have been solved. That's not true, Aaron was so fed up with Prince that to this day he still remains in the shade, resting after years of fighting with a stupid individual who should kiss Aaron's feet for giving him so good publicity.

If the org wasn't threatened by Prince is mainly because the topics discussed are so childish and nonsensical that they can't 'hurt' him in any way.

So keep your venom for yourself and try to know what you're talking about before you type a post.
