I always saw HQ as the "Hardcore" fans. The ones who wanted to have quality discussions. The knowledge there was amazing. Also, when somebody posted a question, it got answered without a million smartarse remarks. The collector's forum was my favorite forum, especially the "latest addition to your collection" thread.

The org seems to be the more "what is Prince's favorite color" people. Quality threads are far and few inbetween.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. HQ seemed to attract the more 'serious' fan/collector

Yup. nod I agree with that.

Calmer, mature, mellow site. Far fewer personalities, interesting international flavor. You could roll through there once every few months and find out everything you needed to know.

Perfect summation. I never remember flame wars and bitchfight going on over there.

I keep seeing fans refer to that now defunct website and claim that it was the greatest thing in the world. What did it have that this site does not?I never got to see said website before it was closed years ago and I have always wondered what could possibly make it seem better than this site? Not trying to start any kind of war over which site is better I just want to know if it had anything that was super spectacular or the like.

Some one fill me in damn it!

HQ was a comprehensive, easy to navigate, one stop resource...it had everything about Prince's career from links to song lyrics to details of just about every song, videos, photos, articles...you name it. As others have said, trolling and foolishness was kept to a minimum, which was great. It really was a super spectacular site.

I agree with Dddaffy's comment 100%. And I definitely miss Housequake. Nothing (and nobody) is perfect, but that site was great. Lots of truly informed individuals on there willing to share info.

Those guys worked hard to maintain that site. It was a hell of a lot better than LotusFlower. Prince should've just asked the Housequake guys to run an official site for him (or made Housequake his official site, replete with audio and video material that he provided).

You missed the 'politics' I described earlier in this thread?

Or you forgot about them?

People on Housequake seemed more honest and open to discussion, whereas here it seems to be the case that if anybody says anything vaguely negative they are slapped down with a torrent of abuse and numerous "why do you still come to this site then?"-type comments. Dare I say it, but Housequake seemed more mature than here.

? There is nothing mature in saying anything "vaguely negative" most people posted on both sites when the big events surrounding Prince happened ...I think its sad Housequake is not around because it just gave Prince Fans choice, I'm sure a new Prince fan site will start up in the future that will rebalance choice. cool

Housequake was beautiful to look at and easy to navigate.
You could quickly find the answer to any Prince related question you might have and discussion tended to be respectful and informative. Any artist would be delighted to have a not-for-profit site like that dedicated to them. Well almost any.
The discussion here may be livelier, funnier and more opinionated but HQ was everything Lotusflow3r ought to have been - and it didn't cost $77.

By "vaguely negative" I meant the likes of saying a particular song is good but not absolutely fantastic, or that an album is good but not as good as another. Such comments on here seem to always provoke a "let's hear you do better then!" response, or general flaming, whereas over on Housequake there seemed to be more tolerance and acceptance of people having their own opinions, and also that (awaits flaming) Prince isn't absolutely perfect, nor is every single song he's ever written.

Some great posters on HQ if my memory serves (about 5 years since I posted on there) Alex Mortland (great music knowledge), Pixie Girl, Czuczu, JK10 (Maradona fan), Garlicbread (surreal poster), EndorphineMachine (controversial poster) and Another.
Was it true that CokeJohnson and Liberation were gay lovers. I thought the rumour mongering on that site was juvenile, it annoyed me greatly. If these two titans of HQ were lovers I'm happy to salute their love. smile

I guess you didn't notice the deleted threads (left and right) on the Org yet.
Also the bans without explanation nor communication, the vague organisational structure if you want something to be done, the corporately enforced restrictive rules w.r.t. posting about certain items, etc, etc.
It is very close to what HQ was in the final stages.

The mods only delete threads here when it goes against org rules.
The rules are clearly posted and folks are just too stupid to understand them though.

People are always complaining that my threads never get locked (which isn't true--some of them do get locked). But it's not about the material being stupid or offensive so much as the material violating site rules. Just stay within site rules ,and everything is fine.

However, on housequake a thread could get shut down just because the mod didn't like it.

I mis it ALOT!It was the BEST Prince site around~

It appears that everyone from HQ is here so why not just get everyone to pitch in?How many people are members of this site?I bet if everyone filled out just one page for the Princepedia then this site would have everything HQ did and maybe a bit more.

Then why perpetuate it? Liberation, aka Richard Dower, is a married man from Ireland, and suffers from Crone's Disease. Other fools have listed him as HIV+, having full blown AIDS, and then dead. It's sickening for anyone to take it to that level of rumordom, to say someone is "AIDS infested" or dead.

MoQuake isn't a Housequake reincarnation but something new. It will however, have some of the flavour of Housequake due to the team behind it.

The old collectors forum was very popular on HQ so it would make sense to do something similar for MQ.
