In all honesty and at the risk of being clowned to within an inch of my life, I kinda get what Princey was trying to say in this movie in his own oddball way...maybe it's a Gemini thing, Why he chose not to work with some professionals who could have put together a professional quality film is beyond me. One gripe I have is his use of females as one dimensional eye candy...it's boring and Ingrid Chavez annoys the crap outta me. She was supposed to be some deep muse but comes off as a dingbat with a head full of cotton candy. And let's not even discuss Robin Power and that silly rapper dude... I loved the performances of New Power Generation, Elephants and Flowers and especially Thieves In The Temple...heck, I even liked Tick, Tick, Bang. And Princey did look hella cute throughout. He could have kept the rest of it though 'cause there wasn't one decent acting job in the entire movie. Yeah there were some good music scenes such as elephants & flowers, Thieves and yes I even liked Tick, Tick Aura bored the stethoscope off of me and I agree that the use of Jill and Robin just for T & A was kinda lame-WTF was Prince thinking There's times when he's too much inside his own head and this was one of them, On the other hand, we got Joy In Repetition out of it....lawd, that song is erotic! Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

20 years later, having seen it 6 times, still have no idea what it is about. (Admiting I have seen it 6 times likely says things about me I do not really want in a public forum.) I do remember tricking my best friend into watching it. When it starts and Prince goes with the supposed to be heavenly but more haunted "Are there really Angels" bit, my friend instantly goes into "IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME!" from the Kevin Costner film "Field of Dreams." Priceless. I had to stop the movie. Well, 20 years in, and my summary of the movie is this: "Prince owns some club, and Morris eats some peppers, and some weird spiritual chick gets hit by a jeep." Prince then sings "Still Would Stand All Time." All is well in whatever city they are in, and the movie is over.
For those of us fans still looking for Ex Wife #1: If you are on a date, and want to see if the girl likes you, put Bridge in. If you want her to leave, she will. If she doesn't....the woman REALLY REALLY likes you, and maybe loves you.(Or she is really really really lacking something..)

In all seriousness, I was at my MOST die-hard Prince famdom when this movie came out, and I (along with everyone in the theater) was like "what the hell." This movie was BEYOND bad. And to co-sign what someone else just said, Pootie Tang was the bomb. http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

You know that scene where Ingrid Chavez gets plowed the fuck over by that jeep, Prince yelps feyly "noooo!!!!" and the Morris says that stupid , "Do U want to live forever?" (or something like that) line? I crack up endlessly over that scene, it's sooooo poorly written and executed. It's just soooo bad it's actually charmingly hilarious.
