There are a couple of edits of "I wish u Heaven" that I have on this promo 45:

Side A:
I wish u Heaven (Radio edit of remix, 4:25)

Side B:
I wish u Heaven (Single edit of remix, 5:45)

I don't know if either were available on CD or not.

AFAIK there is also a CDset which includes all known edits.
Plus, you might check this site for all released 7" etc

Yes, I own it. It is a boot, sourced from vinyl in many cases. You really don't get the point of this thread (which is remedied by simply bothering to read it).

The list in the first post was pulled from my own collection and checked against Princevaut and Sleevographia. The Princevaut is great if you want to spend hours wading through page after page of singles to find this info out. If you really want to be hardcore, hit up Sleevographia to pull the data right from the label.

BUT... THIS list is designed to help make sure people's collections are up to date in light of newer digital releases slowly coming out, that's all.

If this whole exercise is such a waste of time, please point us all to this "professional" list you speak of... you know, the one that can tell us all the best / most current legal format for vinyl era Prince releases. Don't just cough up a link to princevault or sleevographia either... I want it to be in a "professional" listable reference format so it can be of some use to me and others.

This list was on Housequake, which no longer exists. Perhaps there are people who saved this list. I don't have it, as I have all USA, UK, German and Japan 7", 12" and CDsingles released.
Good luck compiling the list

OK, the last major changes have been uploaded. I added track lengths for every song and added non-album tracks to the list.

First, big thanks to squirrelgrease, Rioub, ADKAVON, djdaffy1227 and December1984 for their valuable contributions to this list. If I missed someone, please remind me so I can add you. All credit should be given as this was not a one man show.

My original intention for this list - a reference for collectors wanting to replace vinyl versions of songs released during the vinyl singles era with legal digital copies (either through a download store or on CD) - is complete. Yay! This is NOT to say that the itself list is complete - I am sure I am missing tracks that were transferred to a digital format, so PLEASE inform me of any corrections! As long as they fit in to the "List Rules and Methodology" from the first post I will be HAPPY to update and maintain the list.

However, I respect the fact that many would like to see this list grow to include items like vinyl promo releases, vinyl catalog numbers, and CD compilation/soundtrack catalog numbers. I am sure others would like this to go beyond 1988. As such, I think it would be great to either open my original post up to the community OR have the whole thing uploaded to Princepedia so that the community can allow the list to grow beyond my original intent. In other words, if my wife hears me say "Just let me add one more catalog number!" while the baby needs to have her diaper changed or the dog needs a walk, she will kill me. So Mods and Org community, what do you think?

Finally, a plea to Warner and Prince (as if they’d ever read this thread). I would be willing to wager that many Prince fans own home or bootleg vinyl transferred versions of these songs. This is not because we are bad people out to break the law, but rather because we LOVE these songs and we no longer have a convenient way to listen to them. Most of us would GLADLY pay for digital versions of these songs sourced from a master tape. And if, for some reason, a master tape no longer exists and you are FORCED to source the tracks from vinyl, for the love of God get an engineer to process and clean up the track. I mean if Motley Crue’s Leathur Records release of "Too Fast For Love" can receive a brilliant vinyl transfer, than surly His Royal Badness can as well. Just sayin'...

Edit - Updated My Plea to Warner Bros.

Actually, you can still access Housequake's cached site, it's just on much slower servers, and it takes digging around vs using the search: http://web.archive.org/we...quake.com/

Thanks DJ! smile

I hope the list can somehow be opened to the community (or posted to the wiki), as it can certainly grow beyond my original intent. Housequake was what I originally used in 2007 when I tracked down the bulk of my collection. When I dipped back in to P this year (I go through "phases") and wanted to make sure my stuff was up to date, I realized there wasn't a pure collectors reference list like this available (or at least one I could find), which meant you kind of had to pick through various sources to make sure your vinyl era stuff was up to date. At any rate, I hope it proves useful to those just starting or updating their collections. I certianly learned of a few CD singles I didn't know existed.

Hey there Blackbeltjones,

This is a "Thank You" as well as a bump!

I really appreciate the meticulous attention to detail with this list! I'm going to sort through it all after the rippin' is done and make sure all the singles are in order on my hard drive!

The information on the lossless files available through Rhino was priceless! I had no idea that such rarities were available so readily! Hello (the extended version) is one of my personal favorites, so I was glad to find it in perfect quality!

This post was single-handedly responsible from taking me out of Prince.org retirement, and I realized there was some good stuff I was missing out on!

Thanks again!

Sincerely,
Toadlips

Very, very cool. smile Thanks for sharing that!

(It's funny, finding those tracks on Rhino was what got me fired up as well... hopefully they decide to dust a few more of those tracks off)

Made some minor corrections to the list. I have also e-mailed and called Rhino to see if they plan on releasing the tracks available in the EU as lossless... I will update y'all if I hear anything!

Speaking of promo releases, there's a 7" edit of the "Little Red Corvette (Dance Remix)" that is 4:32. I guess that's another possible addition if you decide to tackle the promo stuff, too. Bump. biggrin
Enjoy and get it on!

Hi BlackbeltJones,

Here is my input:

"Alphabet St. (This Is Not Music, This Is A Trip)" (7:48) is also available on Japanese CDS.

The edit of "DMSR" was available on the soundtrack for a movie called Risky Business. (I don't know the time now, will let know later.)

"I Wish U Heaven (Part 1, 2 & 3)" (10:12) is NOT available on Japanese CDS. It just has album version.

IIRC, "Sexy Dancer (Long Version)" was available on CD. I've seen it sold in eBay about 10 years ago. According to seller's description, it was a compilation CD made in Hong Kong. That might have been non-legitimate but who knows. It was not what is called "pirate" at least and it's not a kind of easy-made Hits compilation since it's hard to think such kind would have a track like "Sexy Dancer" from '79. smile

Next, I have a question. The rule for this list tells:

4) Due to time constraints, the list only includes official promo edits and mixes available on CD or via download. It does not include promo edits and mixes available on vinyl. If the list gets uploaded to Princepedia the vinyl promo versions can added by the community.

However, this list still have a section called Vinyl Era 7" Edits, 12" Mixes, B-Sides & Non-Album Tracks Available on Vinyl Only and it includes Disco Mix of "Just As Long As We're Together" and "Soft And Wet". Those are promo only mixes. I'm a bit confused with the rule but am I missing something?
