As 4 the Rosie Gaines songs, i think they should b taken out until we learn anything about Prince contributing 2 them

But then, by the same token, the George Clinton tracks should be removed as well. I like having them on my list because the songs are out there on bootlegs whether Prince was involved with them or not (most likely not), so you can place them in the continuity of things. biggrin

Well, I just purchased Rosie Gaines' Try Me album from her website. It would appear that sóme of the bootlegged tracks in the list have been released on that one. I'll do some comparative listening and report back with my findings, so stay tuned for that. biggrin

Okay, here's what I found out about the Rosie outtakes:

Rosie Gaines, November 1992
In The Socket #2 (3:56)* – previously Hit U In The Socket, same as #1, but with horns, released as Hit U In The Socket as cyber single in March 2000, included in Ahdio Show No.4, 16/5-2001

Try Me #1 (4:48) – a little longer than the released version, written by Rosie Gaines

Lost In The Wilderness (3:14) - released on Try Me

Swing Hard (2:49) – Rosie Gaines/Dana Bailey - released on Try Me

Do What U Wanna Do #2 (5:44) - Rosie Gaines/Francis Jules/Francis Richardson - released on Try Me

Crazy Mutha Funky (3:45) – released on Try Me

Greatest Touch #1 (3:13) – without drum rhythm on verses, tentative placing

Play The Beat #2 (3:28) – a little longer than the released #3 version, tentative placing

Jah Love #2 (3:51) – released on Try Me

We The People (1:32) – Rosie Gaines/Francois Richardson, released as The People Of Today on Try Me

Poor Little Girl (6:28) – tentative placing

biggrin

I have deleted the released versions because it is doubtful that Prince worked on those, leaving just the 4 remaining outtakes from the Concrete Jungle/Try Me album for the completists out there. biggrin

The Hit U In The Socket entry for 2000 has been deleted, as the NPGMC version is identical with the Try Me album version. biggrin

The August 1992 tracks that Prince didn't write and obviously didn't play on, have been deleted from the list.

Questions? batting eyes

Now go to Rosie's website, contact, and email her that we want the Concrete Jungle album from 1993 as well. razz

Mmmh... A few weeks ago the website announced that Concrete Jungle was 2 b released on CD...

What u say about "Hit U In The Socket" being the same version in "Try Me" and the NPGMC version is a shock 2 me: i bought "Try Me" when it was released a few years back and my version of the album has the old, 1993 version on it eek
Has Rosie changed the album configuration ever since??? (which would not make any historical sense since the NPGMC version WAS recorded much later, at the earliest in 1998). R u sure u're trippin' on this one???

BTW I didn't 4get about our private emails, i just couldn't find the time, sorry, but i will soon wink

Well, I listened to the two versions back to back and they sounded the same to me. But I didn't get the NPGMC version straight from NPGMC, so maybe I've never heard the NPGMC version, then? confuse

So I put the 2000 entry back in the list until the matter has been resolved. biggrin

But the original version of Hit U In The Socket without horns remains unreleased, but it should be on Concrete Jungle if it ever comes out. biggrin

The NPGMC version of Hit U In The Socket was indeed different from the Try Me album version. biggrin

And Judas Kiss also has a different beginning to Judas Smile. nod

The correct track times have been added to the list. biggrin

I also removed the NPG rehearsal of Madhouse tracks. Don't know what it was doing on my list to start with. shrug

And I put a date on the live versions of We March, Letitgo and Vicki Waiting that were released on NPGMC in 2005. biggrin

I'm posting my orgnote 2 u here, just in case someone else might help us ^^

"Hi,

I'm trying 2 sort out my outtakes according 2 ur list. I can't find the last 2 instrumentals from the "Sound 80" bootleg. One is a Hendrix-like 1:26 jam with heavy guitar, the other one is a Funkadelic kind of psych-guitar, slow, 4:33 jam, .

Thanks 4 ur help."

This is a HUGE gift to new fans like myself. I have been listening to Prince for almost 13 months now and I have 21 releases of his and still lack so much. This information is perfect for me. THIS SHOULD BE A STICKY!!!!!

Do you think From The Lotus..., ...Back 2 The Lotus, Colonized Mind, Love like Jazz and Wall Of Berlin, which all feature Michael Bland on drums and Sonny Thompson on bass, were actually recorded at the 11-12 tracks Power Trio session in November 2004 that spawned 3121? confuse

And what about Closer 2 My Heart and First Love? They feature Michael and Sonny too. hmmm

Please discuss. biggrin

This post tends 2 confirm that, it mentions the "lotusflow3r" and "wall of berlin" references in the song "3121" as well as a video interview by Michael linking both albums, and anyway i doubt P had any other recording sessions with the guys in 2004-2006 so i think u should move all the songs 2 november 2004, including the Tamar ones.
