another unlikely (and totally random) thought -

how fun would it be if prince were playing around with mash-ups these days? if the watchtower/foos medley thingie were the b-side of a single called "guitar", whch mashes all his best guitar licks into one song...THIS jaded fan would be famming out all over again. drool

lol Had to stop reading the thread for this comment Anx!

It would be fun indeed! drool

Heard the song off of Foo website.....the guitar licks aren't close to Jimi's..but the vocals are awesome.....killer segue into the Foo Fighters song....pretty interesting....don't know how it will fit into the Super Bowl stuff with the Florida band, etc.. should be interesting on Sunday!!!!!

Yes, I just saw that too. biggrin I gotta say, I'm surprised they aren't bashing more. (Maybe I'm just used to any other non-Prince website bashing our hero!) They are debating more about whether that one person should know who Howard Stern is. nuts lol
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I wonder if the clip we heard is really the beginning of the song....very strange to hear w/Howard and Robin...not sure if I like it yet but good to hear Prince rock and scream again.

And all along the watchtower,
Prince’s kept the view.
While all the women all the women all the women came and went
Barefoot servatnts too.
Out side in the cold distance,
A wild cat did growl la la la la la
Two riders two riders approaching,
The wind began to howwwwwllll

Foo Fighters did a cover of "Drive Me wild" so Prince is pulling another "Shockadelica" here.

It sounded great and Howard said when Prince sings he "gets the chills." Howard has always said cool things about prince, he just picks on his image.

I don't quite know how we got from the announcement of a new download to a new album called 'Guitar' so fast! There's no evidence for that. There's a track called Guitar with new lyrics. Then you have Prince sending this stadium-rock mashup of Bob Dylan's All Along The Watchtower (starting at the 2nd verse it would appear) and the Foo Fighter's Best Of You to foul-mouthed Howerd Stern. Why? The mind boggles. Assuming he is intending to surprise people with these songs at the Superbowl, why ruin the surprise by giving advanced notice? Though it would still be a shock for many Prince doing covers at the Superbowl and new songs... we'll just have to wait and see. A guitar driven rock album from Prince would be the greatest gift you could give me right now, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, Prince rarely follows the obvious, logical route.

If he does come out with a classic rock sounding cd with some covers, he might be able to get those fans from RRHOF and also new kids too. It could sell some cds and downloads. If he picks a good single, it could be interesting. cant wait for it and imagine a rock guitar jam tour. I'm ready for that.

No..no!!! Not testicle radio. You gotta get Sirius. Even if its not for Howard the commercial free music is worth every penny. Testicle radio sucks compared to sat radio, even XM kills regular radio. BTW: Here is the deal with Prince being played on Stern/Sirius. Sirius has a seven year deal with the NFL.

Prince hypocrite ...

But ask him if he's heard the Foo Fighters' version of "Darling Nikki" and Prince, who a minute earlier said he never listens to the radio ("When I want to hear new music, I go make some"), replies by describing a Hawaii DJ's response to the Foos' cover. The DJ wondered if Prince had heard it -- then said he couldn't care less if he had. "Just no respect," says Prince. "I wonder if that's the kind of thing the FCC would like to clean up, too."
So...does he like the cover? "No! I don't like anyone covering my work. Write your own tunes!" He says he got up in R&B singer Ginuwine's face for bungling the lyrics in a 1996 version of "When Doves Cry." "I was just busting on him to bust him, but I was a little serious: Have some respect, man. If anyone tried to cover 'Respect,' by Aretha? I would shoot them myself!"

i'm not relying on prince to release this stuff. it sounds far too good
and driven and loose. prince'll be like "it needs more cowbell".

nah, i'm just crossing my fingers some greedy co-worker of stern made a
copy of the songs and leaks them before long

biggrin

instead, we'll probably end up with a CD single of "feel good, feel wonderful" with six house remixes by DJ Fluffy P or some foolishness. sad

ROFLMAO!!!!! lol smile smile
lol lol lol lol lol lol

I really liked it. I loved the all along the watchtower, and the verse of best of you....when it started getting into the chorus of best of you that it sounded a little sketchy, other than that I liked it alot.
