I don't quite know how we got from the announcement of a new download to a new album called 'Guitar' so fast! There's no evidence for that. There's a track called Guitar with new lyrics. Then you have Prince sending this stadium-rock mashup of Bob Dylan's All Along The Watchtower (starting at the 2nd verse it would appear) and the Foo Fighter's Best Of You to foul-mouthed Howerd Stern. Why? The mind boggles. Assuming he is intending to surprise people with these songs at the Superbowl, why ruin the surprise by giving advanced notice? Though it would still be a shock for many Prince doing covers at the Superbowl and new songs... we'll just have to wait and see. A guitar driven rock album from Prince would be the greatest gift you could give me right now, but let's not get ahead of ourselves, Prince rarely follows the obvious, logical route.

imho, here's why he would send this to Stern. The average Joe, beer drinking, football (therefore Superbowl) watching guy is not a Prince fan. Can't tell you how many times while gambling in Vegas, I had some guy asking me "why?" is Prince playing the Superbowl. However, that is the bulk of Howard's audience. Cover of Foo Foo Fighters- a song a lot of guys like, I know my non-Prince fan boyfriend sure does. Get something on Stern the monday b4 Superbowl that the guys like, maybe they'll actually watch the half-time show, or at least not make fun of it. (Friend's husband (who also listens to Howard) is actually going to the Superbowl and has joked with me that he'll be sure to miss the half-time show...)
As far as covers at the Superbowl, I've already predicted he'll do two- "Crazy" with Shelby and "Play That Funky Music White Boy" both of which he is doing in Vegas on a regular basis. That being said, you never know with Prince!

ok...phew...breath! I can listen to the replay...I can listen to the replay1

I'm in shock....I can not believe Prince would send songs to howard! I've always said I think Prince should do his show as a musical guest....he would blow everyone away!

Well, several months ago, Howard's producer Gary (baba-booey) came in the studio and talked about "negiotiations" he was having with folks from prince's side for an appearance.
It seems as though Prince wanted to come in, perform, and leave. You know, like it was David Letterman or something.
And keep in mind, even if by some miracle Prince actually sat down on Howard's couch, he would stipulate that he wouldn't talk about his personal life.
Anyone who has listened to Howard for as long as I have knows what a ludicrous proposition that would be.

Oh like Howard would respect that. Inappropriate questions are his forte. I can imagine the more gaurded the celebrity the more it would provoke him.

No kidding. I'm wondering what's going on here. Prince associating with Howard, performing on the NFL network... He's taken a rather masculine turn as of late! lol

oh! man...I listen to that show every day and didn't hear that either!! How do I miss so much? ugh!
I think if Prince were to do howard he should NOT make any stipulations..that would be the WORST thing to do....just go in KNOWING that Howard is NOT going to take it easy on him...and that the more Prince pushes for no questions about this or that the worse it's going to get. Prince should just chill out...(if he does this) and laugh...if howard asks him a question he doesn't want to answer Prince should laugh...and be funny about his answers...the more a person gets upset the more howard is apt to NOT lay off....if they kinda just laugh a little and blow it off...howard USUALLY lays off a bit.

pray it could be sooooo goood....or sooooo bad! lol

If you hear Howard's interview with Paul McCartney, he would totally kiss prince's ass and once and awhile slip in all the hot chicks he has banged.

it would be 90% music and ass kissing.

falloff As uncomfortable as that situation would be it would be watching Prince's reaction would be priceless. But embarrassing all at the same time. But seriously if Prince would go on that show he would need to be prepared for that. Howard really doesn't care who the celeb is.

If Prince went on Howard's show I'd really be shocked.

Yeah but Prince seems to get embarrassed when people bring stuff like that up. I don't think he is the type of man that likes hearing women talked about so cheaply. I can't imagine Prince even using the word "bang" to describe having sex with a woman.

Except in the song, "Da bang!" but I think he was just being funny biggrin

I agree that he wouldn't talk about his ladies in an obscene way. He's so private anyway. I can imagine him pulling a prince, and walking out of Howard's studio if the interview starting getting inappropriate.

Just to remind folks before anyone starts doing so, absolutely no asking for, or distributing illegal copies of files on the forums please. Sorry to be a party pooper, but rules are rules, and they're there for a reason.

If the show is being streamed via an official source*, that is ok to point people towards, trading of files however is a big no no.

Yeah, I thought "watch there be no guitar in the song called guitar." (Like WDC w/o the bass.) lol
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Nice theory, but the half-time Superbowl show is seen by millions of people as it is, I don't see that Prince would be concerned about grabbing an extra few thousand more viewers that might be tempted to switch over for half-an-hour. He'll still have a massive audience whatever. Thinking about it, I personally think this is a case of Prince being pretty excited about what he's planning to do, so much so he couldn't help letting the cat out of the bag early.

Oh, OK! lol

Really tho, it seems like he's "Manning Up" this week, with and NFL network performance, and dealing with Mr. Stern. Maybe he's trying to reach out to the people who have avoided him, because they think he's nothing more than a girly man. If they give him a chance, Prince will blow their minds!

I'm not suggesting he's concerned, but the ? was why release it on Howard. Plenty of other places this could've been leaked out from- without the male- non-Prince- fan, football watching audience Howard has. Could have put it out for the fans on his own website. Although I do also think that one possible other reason for choosing Howard is the certainty that they would talk over it just like they did! biggrin
