Has anyone else started humming "Terence Trent D'Arby - We don't have that much time togather" after listening to Te Amo Corazon???

Some comfort to those that listened to Te Amo just once and hated it..(like me) it's actually a real grower of a song and surprisingly subtle after a few listens...

THE SONG:
hmmmmm.... hmmm Well, I don't HATE it, but lyrically it's not shakin' my tree - Spanglish ain't his forté that's for sure! giggle I DO however like the music - the fact he's gone back to his library of unused Clare Fischer orchestration was a nice and welcome surprise, I think Clare's stuff has always complemented Prince's work wonderfully. Somewhat ironically, I think i'd personally enjoy it a whole lot more as a simple no-frills instrumental, but it certainly leaves me intruiged as to what lies ahead down the 3121 road.

that's just what i was thinking when i first heard the song too, that it'd work out a little better if it were an instrumental. nod

Watched the video on the VH1 website last night. A very "nice" song but very dull and does absolutely nothing for me whatsoever. If this is the best song to release as a lead track for the new album then god help us. A completely inoffensive song, slickly put together, but it won't set the world on fire and already has me thinking it'll be one to skip on the album. Hugely disappointed.

prince said that the album isn't gonna be like this song.....

That's as maybe, but as I said if this is the best song to release as a lead track it doesn't bode well. Artists normally release a killer song to make people think "wow - I've got to buy that album when it comes out" a bit like a film maker puts together a trailer which really shows their movie off, and this track, as pleasant as it is, just doesn't bring that kind of reaction. Even if the rest of the album is utterly amazing, this track seems a poor choice as lead single as so many people here, on a fan community, are already slating it as being dull and dreary, albeit well crafted.

No, but I have lapsed into the "still see the picture upon the wall, the one eye staring at nothing at all..." part of The Holy River.

I like it.

Beautiful strings, gorgeous arrangement. Nice lyrics and melody.

The genre it belongs to might not be to everyones taste but so what? It's still a quality song and the video is probably Prince's most accomplished ever.

So it defies expectations ... . I'm just pleased that Prince is still suprising me at this stage in his career.

This is not a bad song. It's a lovely beautiful ballad, and I'm not even big on Prince ballads. The video is pretty nice too. Although I will say that I think Prince may be putting on a few pounds. lol

Now, all you haters out there can bash him all you want. But this still sounds better than all the rest of the garbage that's plaguing the top 40. Even at this worst, Prince can still come up with something good. I know you all want the freak-nasty Prince. But I've accepted the fact that's he's grown up now and decided to play it safe.

Why can't people just look at the song and video and appreciate the virtue behind it, instead of trashing it because it's not what you would expect it to be?

My review from a previous thread, if anyone gives a crap:

I really didn't expect to like this song, as soooo many folks were bashing it, and I've long complained about the whole ballad-as-first-single philosophy he has mostly subscribed to in the last 10 years. It sounded like it would be yet another cheap retread of "Scandalous".

Well, I'm pleasantly surprised! I'm LOVING the bossa nova feel, and I'm quite happy that he is doing a different kind of ballad. I've noticed several people have claimed to hear a Santana influence, but I don't get it. Is it because it has a latin vibe? To me, it sounds more like a downtempo Tito Puente number than anything by Carlos. This song is sensual, sophisticated and smooth. Sure, it isn't a funk number, but it sure doesn't sound like too much he has done in the past (and that makes me happy, since I love it when he doesn't repeat himself).

Lyrically, it is quite good. This song makes the best use yet of the Garden of Eden metaphor, and the overall feel is quite romantic.

The video is simply fantastic, through and through. Stunningly beautiful, and it truly fits the vibe of the song. Salma has done an amazing job, and really should direct more often. She's got a great sense of style.

I, like many it seems, wasn't crazy about this tune upon first listening. Now after all the hype has subsided and I let the song just be, I like it. I like it's simplicity and mood. Clare Fisher's strings bring that familar Prince vibe that I love. I agree it does stick in your head. I woke up this morning with it stuck in my head. The song has cool little things going on when you listen on headphones. I hear new things each time. And that's the kind of songs I like. It's not about "instant gratification".
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Y'all know what an earworm is. A song that gets stuck in your head and you find yourself singing it, in spite of yourself. I though the new single was just okay when it came out and I'm still not a big fan but dang it if it is not stuck in my head. I find myself singing it in the shower, in the car, etc. Could this be Prince's evil plan, a song so subtle that it seems bland but then, with repeated exposure, becomes catchy.

Anybody else have the song stuck in your head?

I think that Selma H. did a beautiful job on the visuals, and i heard this on the other thread, but this vid did make me want to go watch Frida. I just like the way uses the camera to accentuate the smaller things-- his hands on the flowers, the way she lets her hair down when he's following her (or her ghost?)

Great visuals...especially when his shadow caresses her image.

Who said Prince + Dancers = shake

HIs lttle dance and song w/the guitar was a little comical, though.

Sorry to say, I did like MUSICOLOGY better as a song, but i like this video more.

I have interpeted the lyric to Te Amo Corazon:

At Forty-two thousand feet above the sea
That's when you and I first came to be
from the dust of the earth
and the knowledge tree

I’m old as dirt. falloff

Te Amo Corazon - I think you’re hot

At last I can tell what I know so long
my heart's been crying I can sing this song
I don't care who knows it
cuz there's nothing wrong

hah!
You’re over now 18, so I’m think I go for it.

Te Amo Corazon - I think you’re hot

I'm So Scared of losing you
I really don't know what I'd do
Can't bear the thought of another day apart
My heart, My Heart

It’s getting hard, my penis, my penis

Corazon
(Bridge)
Once when I first laid eyes on you
I saw heaven and earth anew
everyone else saw my brown eyes
no longer blue

hah!
I was lusting from the first time I saw you dusting.

Te Amo Corazon - I think you’re hot

First I couldn't find the words to say
How much you've changed me every way
I just want to thank ya'
each and every day

I’m not going to give up till I get in your panties,
but I have figure out how to do it with out getting charged with sexual harrasment.

at last and finally, an explanation that makes sense

Actually-- this takes its ethereal quality away and reduces it to what it is.

i put my comment on the wrong forum but i HATE the dancers. He always messes up a video with a dumb dancer. The video is beautiful but weird. Where's the funk, rock, R & B? It's a little too Marc Anthony/ Hulio Iglesias for me.

Pretty song, slick production, whimsical 'vibe', admirable musicianship with a nod to George Benson when he brandishes the guitar. A few people have said this before, but to me it sounds a little bit like 'And God created Woman' with a Parade-era arrangement. And that's no bad thing.

So why all the hate? The song is obviously a marketable first single from a musician who has nothing to prove to anyone, least of all to excitable fanatics who think they alone have a connection with 'the funk'. Personally I'd much rather have Prince growing old gracefully. It's the latest instalment in a crazy and unpredictable ride that started with an unknown prodigy in 1978 and continues to baffle, fascinate, excite, provoke and irritate me in 2005.

Madonna is shamelessly prancing around, jumping onto 'trendy', transient bandwagons like an embarrassing drunken aunt who's gatecrashed your wedding and won't leave the dancefloor. Prince, as ever, sets his own agenda.

AGREE!
Bring on 3121. I've no idea what it's going to be like, but I can't wait to find out. All part of the ride.

I like the song and video...but one question.
Why does he always do that move where he turns and points and stares into the camera all at once, I have seen him do that a hundred times, so it seems.

The song is beautiful and the everyone complaining up in here could only dream of writing any P song. They all need to SHUTUP ALREADY<<<

The video is nice, very well directed and it would have been even nicer with a fairly nice song, love song.
The song, the lyrics to 'Te Amo Corazon' are NOTHING!. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!!! The story is BORING.. B-O-R-I-N-G!!!. They are nothing original. Sounds like he put them lyrics together in a flash of a thought. .. Really, I mean, read the lyrics!.. The song don't go with the music, the music well better left without lyrics. He should have saved that story/video and Selmas work for a much better song. NOT a ballad though. Prince is not good at ballads. I thought NOTHING of "she loves me for me" .. sounds like something a teeny bopper would sing on the way to school... "Call my name" okay, I have to give that some credit, but considering how many woman done called his name the song had no credibility.

Lounge Pop...as Rolling Stone identifies it...is right on. The song is a banal, insipid piece of fluff. I thought P was onto something with the progressive jazz vein he was experimenting with a couple years ago...but he's reverted back to a lazy poof. But that's just MHO...as I can clearly see that so many others are diggin it. And such lyrics...man a pre-schooler could have written that drivel. So throw a movie star's name onto it, hold a useless press converence and hope that the video brings back the radio star. This single should sink as fast as the Titanic. Hoping there are a few life boats inside the album.

Have your ever heard of "Adore" a great ballad and he has written a few others that are great. I don't listen to P's music and expect Shakespearen verse and I never expect that from any love song. I did not like this the first time I heard but, it is starting to grow on me. I just don't know what audience he was going for with it.

I think some of you are little too young to appreciate a good ballad.
