That was very touching the way he changed the words to The Ladder for her.It was heartbreaking to hear him plead for her to be brought back to him and you could tell he was struggling to keep it together and make it through the show.

EXACTLY.

I have said time and time again since I first heard those concerts in 2016- the things Prince said in his tribue to Denise were NOT what a man would say about a woman who was an ex-girlfriend of 30 + years ago nor an old friend.

To put it BLUNTLY- the things he said that night were what you would hear from a man who just lost the LOVE OF HIS LIFE. He spoke in the present! Quite frankly, after having experienced the death of a very close friend, her husband displayed the same emotions, said the same things as Prince- begging her to come back to him etc. Prince was like a WIDOWER that night.

It's NOT a stretch or romantic notion to link his death with hers- they were 2 months and a couple of days apart. If he had not been brought back to life during the plane incident, it would've been exactly 2 months. Now, if they had died 5 years apart, I might feel differently but 2 months, NO. As I have said many times on this board, Prince was struggling with something during those last months and when Denise died, I believe he lost it. Lost his will to go on. No one that I know "accidentally" overdoses 2 times in a week. I will always believe her death impacted his to the point of sending into a downward spiral which contributed to his death.

Denise's brother in law has shared plenty over the last year about Denise and Prince's connection over the decades and I believe he was still in love with her right up until he took his last breath. They led very different lives here on earth and were not in each other's space, but he always loved her. Their lives paralleled and he seemed to follow her lead in many things and finally, to the next life.

No one knows how Prince would've reacted if it had been another woman that passed before him and your point is moot. It was Denise who died and NOT the others.

Mayte, He was ready to be married and try family life (plus Denise had just recently married). Someone mentioned how he followed her suit I think this opportunity was him following her and trying matrimony. IMO. I am not discounting that he enjoyed time with others.

I think he loved Mani too for a while.He seemed happy with her to me at the beginning of their marriage.I don't feel he found love again with any of his more recent relationships.

I believe those comments concerned the times that Vanity was acting crazy. Since Apples went to her funeral perhaps things had changed. Most people are not going to funerals to become famous.
