No you just jump on anyone who states anything positive. In the most nasty sacastic manner.

Get back on your meds and get a grip on realitiy. Some people including professional musicians thing P is one of the best and no one thinks he invented music.

If it bugs you so fucking much get off the board or just respect other people's taste.

What is it like to be stupid and an asshole? Because you should post about that topic. You seem to be an expert.

You're a real people's person, aren't you?

here's the TRUTH about u and some others on this site and if u doubt what i'm about 2 say then ur fooling urself. there are people like u that if ANYBODY says or talks about anything other than prince, it's pointed out that this is a prince forum regardless if the topic of the thread can be about the bar kays, y'all make it clear and piss on ANYONE that may not like prince's recent tours, music or god forbid like another artist.

but no u have spew foul language at folks when a lot of the times no one comes at u like that. i'm not saying u don't have a right 2 comment about someone's posts but damn check yoself b4 u come spewing ur words and don't get shocked when it comes back at u

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

you are so foul. Why the name calling? Someone who didn't even say anything to you.

It is fucking funny because YOU MAKE IT HILARIOUS. Everytime you come on the board, it is to say some foolishness.

I'm always speechless at your posts. Such venom for people you don't even know in real life... it is just the internet, and this is just some music fan message board. I don't see the need to start calling people assholes, because they find this fuckery (mockery + fucked up foolishness) funny.

I can just imagine how you relate to people in real life.

Prince & Sheila will or would have never married. Prince prefers women he can control.

(speaking of the sexy PR tour performances) Sheila: 'Let's see how sexy I can get!' ... There were times Prince turned to me and said 'are u sure u wanna do this?' and I said 'heck yeah!'

Yeah, given his legendary control issues and the way her family and friends describe her, it could be that simple. You could easily see Sheila's blossoming as an icon and sexy performer in her own right creating a rift, or even just widening rifts that naturally arise.

What's funny is that, thinking back, everyone always assumes Prince is pushing the 'proteges' into these sexy styles and manners of presentation-and I'm sure he does to some extent- but, at least here, you get a picture of this ultra-talented, sexy woman doing HER thing... that just happened to merge with what Prince did. And, of course, she adopted some of his swag along the way (remember her little 'Cloreen'-like bit in Krush Groove?).

She even recalls him sort of knowing she'd gone a bit too far, but letting her learn for herself.

That was, I think, the most interesting Prince-related tidbit to me..

But in all sincerity I don't think he was actually referring to her clothes by way of "going too far". For me the phrases "going to far" and "how sexy could I get" was just tv code for something else that was a specific aspect of her show back then, & you just can't say it straight out during family programming lol .

In her 80's heydey as a protege, Sheila used to have an audience participation bit in her show for the song "Next Time Wipe the Lipstick off Your Collar" (You old skoolers remember that don't cha?) lol Unsung was genteel enough to refer to that moment as "steamy", but in actuality what really took place is that Sheila would drop her head in a captive audience member's lap to er, um, simulate fellatio. Oddly enough, by this time I'd grown used to seeing Prince humping beds and faking orgasms during his song "Do Me Baby" or "International Lover" (for his 1999 tour), but when this chick would take some poor slob from the audience and drop her head in between some strange dude's legs, it was definitely a omfg shocked omfg moment. This was something I, or likely a lot of people had never seen before in terms of pushing the envelope at a pop/r&b concert for a woman, and you could just hear people gasping. The year or two previously I do remember Vanity turning around to show us her ass in her thong teddy, encouraging the dudes in the audience to chant "Vanity is nasty", but somehow Sheila E.'s bit trumped that in a New York minute.

Not her finest moment onstage perhaps, but the rest of Sheila's show would be so kick ass, it was somehow easy to overlook it. The folly of youth, I suppose

But yeah, for me it was clear they weren't just talking about clothes. martini lol

He aked her because he knew she was more than a singer mimicking his songs . He knew she wanted to be taken seriously as a musician and no disrespect to the 6 ladies , but he knew her drive and talent was much bigger than being a nasty girl or a sex shooter :

She had something going before he even came into the picture . She had already worked with even bigger legends than he was at that time : He knew that being too provocative and sexy would eventually play out with her : And she proved it was all about the music for her and playing like no one else could . That was in her blood , from her family .

Best Unsung I have ever seen-Ms.E is a beautiful lady inside and out. Now I know why I've always had a girl crush on her lol razz I'd say The Debarge Unsung is second followed by Bobby Womack's. Sheila's was done very well. Sad that she and Prince couldn't work it out romanticcally, but I still love em both cool

wow, I didn't know Sheila got down onstage like that. lol

As far as onstage antics; I think Prince separates onstage with real life. His love interest can be sexy onstage... just like Prince...but in real life it has been reported that Prince is rather conservative.

I have heard that Vanity "scared" him in her outrageous behavior in real life.

So I don't believe that Sheila got to racy for Prince in real life... regardless of her actions onstage.

I saw the PR Tour twice. I remember the Next Time Wipe. . . bit. I had bleacher seats so I couldn't see it that well, but I remember it that she would "tie the guy" to a chair, and say "do you want to play with my timbales?" "your stick isnt big enough!" and she'd like "grab his crotch" while he was tied to the chair. I don't remember the fake oral sex thing.

I guess it was pretty shocking back then. But then I remember seeing a pic of it in Right On or Black Beat or something and notcied the guy at that show was an actor (actually a really hot actor who had a minor role on ALl My Children at the time). And I realized the guys must have been "plants" or pseudo celebrities who were in on it smile

So perhaps there were switches . Sometimes the paynus grab, sometimes the oral innuendo.

The oral thing was subtle, though, like a head dip movement---but WHOOO WHEEE the implication! Back then that was kinda shocking for pop music. I think until then the only time people were exposed to women being racy onstage were in smaller, boutique audiences like Millie Jackson (and occasionally Etta James).

About the poor guys tied up: you know they never did seem to be just ordinary guys from the neighborhood; seemed like they were always kinda cute, which at least made one think they were aat the very least scouted out beforehand. You never saw anyone getting up there that looked like the local plumber lol

Funny enough I have heard people admit as much when it comes to onstage sexuality; the shock and wow factor stays on stage and when the lights go off, a lot of folks just chill the heck out a bit.

but for that paynus bit, it wasn't like she was graphically bobbing the head up and down like a porn star, but more of a head dip so you could get the idea...and that was shocking enough back then. Thank goodness my mother didn't come as our escorts to these shows because she would have smacked all of us girls for wanting to go in the first place. lol, and I saw her several times in different cities, with different friends and cousins ...we never told our parents anything about aaaaany Prince or associated artist concert we attended during that era. E-VER. lol

I was way up in the bleachers so I easily could've missed the head-bob thing. I was very naive back then (I just turned 18) and I remember being SHOCKED when I saw the 2nd date a few months later on Long Island and realized she (and Prince) said the same banter "lines" at each show..... like back then I thought it was actual stage patter not scripted smile

you are so foul.

I can just imagine how you relate to people in real life.

clapping SoulAlive is one of the nicest and most respected orgers on this website. All this name calling is overkill, for real.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Cool to see MC Hammer offer some insight on Sheila's humble beginnings and what she did for up-coming artist in the East Oakland area :

That was PhunkDaddy.

laurarichardson said: phunkdaddy said: Your stupid ass just don't know when to quit do you. I know this is a Prince message board fool and i never stated or said that people shouldn't comment positively about Prince. I have 5 or 6 of his cd's myself. I don't have a problem with Prince. I'm just against this idea that he's the best or he created music as we know it. There is a Non Prince music forum also where i post often. It seems the last time you confronted me there it was apparent your stupid ass didn't seem to realize the discussion was for Non Prince music. You've been BOOMED! "i never stated or said that people shouldn't comment positively about Prince." No you just jump on anyone who states anything positive.

Soul Alive lol at the exchange between you and Phunkdaddy. And then you replied to SOUL ALIVE'S post by calling her (?) an asshole. Go back and read the exchanges. It is all there.

I remember the stick comment too!!! (Good grief are we showing our real age or what? lol )

I was way up in the bleachers so I easily could've missed the head-bob thing. I was very naive back then (I just turned 18) and I remember being SHOCKED when I saw the 2nd date a few months later on Long Island and realized she (and Prince) said the same banter "lines" at each show..... like back then I thought it was actual stage patter not scripted smile

well again, it wasn't a bob- it was a dip wink- and that was enough back then!--but yup, I felt the same way finding out people script their shows!!!

Did I mention I was even younger than you when I would tag along to these concerts lol ? There would be times I would sit with my little teenage face löooking like this,

eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek eek

We thought we were so cool getting to go to these shows by ourselves. I'll never forget my mom being irritaed because one of my Jackson features in Black Beat Magazine described one of their shows as "sexsational! " Now after seeing how she was all up in arms about that, you can be sure we weren't telling her about Prince, Vanity, Sheila E. or anybody else's show. We always made everything sound really safe and kosher, and it helped tremendously that the only song my mother really knew from Prince was "Still Waiting" falloff

But yeah, for me it was clear they weren't just talking about clothes. martini lol

That was NOT a fake orgasm!!!

Lawd knows I tried to go past this post without reacting... but now reading it a second time... I just can't resist. How do you know this? and ill at the thought that this is a true story... and feeling ill that you know/heard that it is true. Damn. It was cool when I thought it was simulated. Kind of icky to think as a teenager I watched some man "beat off" onstage.

Wohoo!

I was 14 and saw Parliment. My mom had a fit because George wore a diaper onstage.

the next year I saw Prince. She never even asked about Prince, since I really wanted to see the Time and presented the concert as a "Time" concert. But to tell you the truth, I didn't know how risque Prince was onstage. And man oh man... I was 15 watching Prince put his hands down his pants and gyrate his hips. eek and hump the mic stand, and the piano, and the floor, and the air. (sort of like a air guitar except I guess you could call this an air fuck..eek )

and my mom to this day never knew that the Parliment concert was child's play compared to Prince.

Of course he faked it. Come on, think! (and with 'think' I don't mean you)
