Is this the most negative the org has ever been?

Looking at the different threads, their titles and their content it seems that the mood here is even worse than usual. The announcement of the new album has been eclipsed by the tidal debacle, the lack of remasters, Prince's attitude about distribution and record labels... Someone just started a thread to list his 'lies'. Is this it? Are we all planning to jump wagon?
Personally I really liked AOA and I have enjoyed him live a few times recently, but I find everything else really tiring... And I consider myself one of the positive fans. So unless things change it's going to be a very gloomy time for Mr Nelson's fans...
Thoughts?

Nope. It was once so negative that Prince wrote a great song about it.

Are you talking about PFUNK? I think that wasn't as bad - it was mainly the mods or administrators rather than the fans. There's really no enthusiasm here about anything at the moment..

Careful, this thread will be considered a discussion about the site itself and moved to the Prince.org forum.

How about changing the title to:

Is this the most negative reception Prince ever got?

Well if he didn't constantly screw over his fans, it would be more positive here. The negativity is all his doing....

THe Crystal Ball fiasco was a pretty dark time, especially when it was followed by the lackluster New Power Soul.

You know--other 80's acts like Duran Duran, Madonna, etc. do it right.

They make an album & get it out there and promote it. They understand their audience. Look at how DD is going about "Paper Gods". Now look at how Prince has gone about "HITNRUN".

That's all we want.

Prince brings on the negativity himself.

We don't want to have to search for the music on random & obscure websites, subscribe to Tidal, buy a British newspaper just to get the new album, etc.

We don't want to have to reschedule our lives for a short notice, overpriced "Hit n run" gig.

We don't want to listen to a multimillionaire whine about record contracts.

Most of Princes fans are older now, have mortgages & bills to pay. We have families to feed and kids to put thru school. We are living reality.

Prince is living a fantasy. A Paisley Park fantasy trying desperately to maintain an aura of mystery by being cryptic, strange & baffling--behavior well past it's expiration date.

He still does a ton of photoshoots trying to look seductive and sexy, but is a heavily airbrushed older man; he plays music with young women because he's afraid of growing old; he's got lawyers on the hunt after fans--

He's very talented, but also kind of pathetic.

Who has time for all that? Just get your new cd out, Prince, with no hassle--and it's all good. Understand why your audience come to the party. Or don't bother at all.

Are these topics people are just making up? or are these things that are actually happening?
I believe it is the former, and that isn't the fault of Prince.org

a lot of people are easily offended. Maybe stuff they are going through. Hypersensitivity.
And people regularly cross Rule #1
too many don't know how to discuss a topic without attack an individual.
I've seen it happen where there is a debate and one person (hits below the belt) by attacking the other person or trying to attribute motive or by slandering the individual. It happens here and it's easy to do on message board.

.

I also strongly believe the more happy people are with Prince the lighter the mood on the org

I think yes.

In all my days here, even going back to the old black and purple site, I seriously can't remember it ever being this bad...

Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

What really pîsses me off is that EVERY week for YEARS we've had a new "Prince is over and done" and a new "Prince's business model sucks" thread.

I mean the OPs try to find a new angle every time but that's basically the same thread being recreated week after week and I don't understand why the mods don't do anything about it.

Mods should either make one sticky for each of those 2 themes, or lock the goddamn threads every time they pop-up, but I don't think it should be allowed to create a new thread every week to rehash the same ideas again and again without having anything new to say, this is just visual pollution nod

And it's not a matter of opinion. I think Lovesexy is a masterpiece and a 'Lovesexy is a masterpiece' thread is fine every coupla months, but if there was a new "Lovesexy is a masterpiece" thread every week I'd call for lock or sticky all the same.
