That Vault graphic is pretty cool, though. That pic would make a great "album cover" for a collection vault tracks...

I still dont think he will open the vault if it isnt on his own accord. ...but what if there were one million adresses (which wont ever happen--there will never be more than 20,000...because most average Prince fans dont care about the vault or bootlegs etc)..if you charge $5 per address per song or per two songs even, thats more moola than he would get at a distrubter or company...and double that to 4 songs for 10 buks...I dont think he would get a bigge payday than dopng it like that. And thats for just 4 vault songs.

But I really dobnt think its about money...becasue he would already habve put this into play years ago...so with that..The Vault material will stay ..in the vault. And Im talking about the heralded 1980-1999 material..the material that matters.

I can't imagine that "open the vault" means release everything at once. It would probably take years just to digitize all the tapes. He would start with one thing at a time. If they collect 20,000 email addresses and we each agree to pay 77 cents for a high quality lossless file of "Purple Music" (or whatever people want), he's made himself a nice $15,400 just for that.

If this were a collective to get Prince to release new music (via new albums in physical form), I'd be interested.

I'm one of the very few here that don't care as much about 'The Vault' as I do about new music/new directions.

I really love "Screwdriver" (from lyric video version), but sadly, if it doesn't get released in high quality (and ideally in physical form as part of an album), I likely won't be listening to it again.

For me, the shelf life (longevity) and rotation of an mp3/mp4 is about one day, whereas a great song on a great album is years long.

The Lotusflow3r album is still in high rotation at my crib.

'Nuff said.

Pretty much. He knows how we feel already, and has done for nearly the last 30 years.

Just more of the same old but with a nice, fancy font.

Thats what I am talkng about. Nobody is fool enought to think he will open all of his vault...ever..or even half.

But that measly $15,400 isnt shit to him in the grand shceme of things. Not enough to do it.

Why not? It might pay a month's electric bill at Paisley Park. And when you've got thousands of songs in the vault, it adds up. He's already doing this on 3rdeyegirl with the new stuff.

Do we need to unite worldwide, set up a search for you and outsmart the kidnapper?

Can you torge your kidnapper by singing Celine Dion songs non stop?

In the meantime, we'll set up a website to organise the Free rdhull project.

As long as their intentions are good I will have no problem but if I get silly shit or they use it for any non-Prince related shenanigans, I won't be happy.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt and see the good in the proposal for the time being. I was convinced it was semi-official at least...

"Cause i know that the lord is coming soon"

lol

What is soon when time is so trivial?

Is this about pleasing God? In order to save your soul on judgementday?

Motives and intention is vital on judgement day, isn't it?

What intention is more pure

1. Helping others because you expect a reward from God in order to save yourself

or

2. feel the need to help others, to relief their suffering, without counting on a reward from God.

Atheist might be saved whilst Christians aren't. Nobody knows and nobody can judge a deed, right?

1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

I'm not giving my e-mail adress if it's used for causes that are only inspired through fear for judgement day. Deeds that are motivated by fear from God don't seem very altruistic or genuine to me.

And yes, I know, I also can't judge. wink

Intriguing concept. I agree. Who wants to listen to a bunch of detached, scattered mp3s.

There is something to be said for the power, integrity and thematic cohesion of an album.
