So let me get this straight...

12:00 today (Sunday) it is announced on BBC Radio 6 that Prince & 3EG are playing Shepherds Bush. Initially the price is believed to be £70. At last minute price is dropped to £10, people in the line are getting "numbered" to prevent queue jumpers AND everyone is getting a free coffee. NOT BAD!

You lucky so-and-sos. Just cannot get there myself. Am mega jealous but also happy for you all...no honest I am really happy for you!!!!!! lol

Clearly they have read about the chaos that happened on Wednesday with the queue and learned from that. Just hope we get a little more notice/tix for those of us who simply don't have the flexibility...IF ANYONE IS READING THIS HINT HINT HINT

[Edited 2/9/14 11:55am]

I suspect the initial ticket price given was to weed out the casual goers and buy some valuable travel time for the fans who were prepared to pay. Clever. But you can only get away with that one time. I didn't see the announcement until mid-afternoon and didn't think I'd get there in time to get a place. Like a lot of folks on here, still hoping that he'll do some ticketed gigs at some point.

I really hope that is true because if so then that is a cool thing to do to make sure real fans with dedication (and no commitments) get to see him.

The sceptic in me wonders whether the price drop and timing reflected the fact that the queue wasn't a capacity sell out (it holds 2000 and last I saw the queue was approx 1200) so change price and get loads more down there.

As I said, hope it IS the former.

'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

Interesting though that the pic of the ticket shown on here said £70 on it so I do wonder.

There weren't enough people arriving so they dropped the price, either that or it was a response to the complaining.

Yeah but they were probably only printed today and I imagine that was the price they were told to go with.

so do you think now that he's struggling to fill the SBE with no warning that he'll start to pre book the tickets?

But that is also confusing. Why is there a ticket at all? I thought this was pay on entry? Why do you need a ticket if you pay as you enter?

Prince's biggest problem is that the majority of his fanbase are late 30s/40s and simply cannot drop everything on the off chance there might be a gig somewhere in London with no guarantee of entry. There are so many of us who would be there if we just had more notice or advance tix. Said it before but oh how I miss NPGMC!

I don't mind admitting though Jay, I made a BIG mistake tonight by not going. £10 tickets again, orderly queuing, and they still have tickets to sell. No time off work to go early and queue, even if we'd turned up at 7 we would have got in. Gutted. I'm an idiot.

If he was selling tickets in advance they'd all sell out in no time and people would be complaining that they didn't stand a chance to get them. Seems like he can't win.

Let's just give him a chance - this is only the second gig. I would expect he'll do a few of these, which enable some people to see him who perhaps wouldn't otherwise have done, then he'll end up doing some ticketed shows, which will enable people to see him who can't make it out at short notice. Complaining about his London visit when it's only just started is a bit premature I think. Like complaining about an album you haven't actually listened to yet.

I love the way he still gets called "The Kid" - he's 55 years old!

I wish someone would call me The Kid, but it's never going to happen.

Oh I'm not complaining...just jealous as hell as I don't live in London anymore otherwise I would have been there tonight. I hope you are right and there is a mix of gig/ticketing types.

The not enough people arriving argument is flawed. There were reportedly 1,100 there already. 1,100 * 70 = £77,000. Capacity is 2,000, so even full up 2,000 * 10 = £20,000. There would have needed to have been less then 285 people there for them to have made less money at £70 then capacity at £10.

This has been a fantastic thing for the fans. Well, except for us that didn't go. lol

RIP sad

Maybe it's just the policy of the SBE to issue tickets.
