On my way into Malahide to see if there is a sound check happening. Apparently he flew in a couple of hours ago via private jet and is going to Malahide.

Let you know if anything cool happens!

Surely last night's sound fiasco will turn out to be a good thing for us, by all accounts it was horrible and I'm sure not something Prince or his crew will want repeated a second night in a row. Won't they be taking extra precautions to make sure everything is perfect? Croke being cancelled followed by a show with awful sound really won't endear him to anyone over here should he come over again. I think things will run very smoothly for us... I hope

Looks there is good interest in late Tickets looking n Toutless.com ( great irish site setup to beat ticket touts ). The more people in the park to absorb the Bass & Volume the better !

From looking at various pics & vids ..it looks like the Stage ,Speaker and Screen setup is the same one used at the Hop Farm in the UK.

Hi Rorywan, Let me save you a trip to Malahide. I just got back from the park and some trucks had just rolled in and they were offloading sound / light equipment in boxes and bringing them on stage, see photo below from just 60 minutes ago.

I asked and was told no sound check today. Park closes at 1.30pm tomorrow and Prince has the 1.30pm > 4.00pm slot to sound check.

That probably means he'll show up at 3.55pm then! I am genuinely very excited but it's a bit "hope for everything, expect nothing" at the moment...Maybe I should stop going on the internet!

What's the deal with cameras? Anybody had any recent experience? Am I gonna be ok with my nice new compact, or is some burly security guard likely to confiscate it? I know it used to be an issue, but these days everyone has camera on their phone? To pack it or not to pack it...? I'm in the pit btw.

Does that mean the entire park will be closed off completely before gates open? After Gibneys we were thinking of laying on the grass for a bit, sip a few bevvies ... lol

There was a post about this a few days ago:

http://prince.org/msg/12/363827

I'm not sure if they'll be checking for cameras but they will be checking for bottles/alcohol (so they could possible do a camera search at the same time if they're being really zealous). Have a look at the responses in the above thread - some people say their camera was taken but they were able to collect it when they left, somebody suggests maybe just giving them the batteries from the camera.

There were supposed to be random bag searches at NSJ but I didn't see anyone getting checked and people even had SLRs up at the front and not one of the security guards said anything.

When I was last at Malahide for Neil Young in 2008, they checked bags on the way in but just for drink, cameras were allowed in fine. But as I said in the other thread, things could be a lot stricter for Prince. If it's a compact, just stick it in your pocket and don't get too close to a bouncer when taking your photos.

Conflicting reports then. I went in for a walk to have alook around. We were told he is doing a sound check in the morning. Personally I think it will happen this afternoon. First run through especially after what happened in Germany. Then a final check tomorrow. That's what the papers are saying as well. Keep you posted.

If Prince is in Dublin tonight, I reckon there is a very good chance of an aftershow/preshow, most likely in the Pod. I would imagine he will want to get last night in Cologne out of his system pretty rapidly.

Is the picture above of the stage a recent one?, if it is, I cant see there being a soundcheck tonight.

BTW I wish you all a fantastic concert tomorrow, I reckon it is going be fantastic, would love to be there, I have relations living in Malahide, so I am hoping the will go in my absence.

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

I was one of the orgers to have foolishly still made the journey to dublin in the wake of the cancelled croke park show 2 years ago... met some orgers in the pub in the day , orange tree or summit, but refused to go see the purple reign band in the evening, if it aint prince it aint prince, right?

Any way it left a bad taste in my mouth and i didnt listen to prince for some time, but its in the blood you know, purple rain was my first prince album so ive been a big fan for some time. My partner refused to travel down to dublin for this castle gig as she aint a prince fan and is still angry after i dragged her down to dublin last time for a very expensive nothing!!

so my sister agreed to come with me and i was delighted only for her to tell me last week that she was gonna buy a sofa instead , gutted, im off to turkey on my hols come 19th of august and this gig is just at

the wrong time for me as ive had car trouble and had to spend £500 of our spending money to get that on the road again, i love prince its a spiritual thing and i know you know what im talking about, part of me just thinks what the hell im just gonna go but im a family man and cant do that kinda of impulsive selfish act anymore.

This gig is going to be epic , you can feel it, im very glad PRINCE has decided to put his croke park disaster to bed, he wants to make up, your in for something very special i hope its well documented, looks like the weather will be perfect its gonna be a beautiful night , the setting could not be more perfect a prince at his irish castle.... i hope its every thing you dreamed of, i hope some of you can pop onto twitter and keep me informed.

HAVE A VERY FUNKI NITE prince

awww so sad , i wish you could go , u soooooo deserve it !! u never know

Hello - yes that picture I posted was snapped at 12.30 GMT today. I would love if there was a sound check today but doubt it unless they do it 8-10pm timeframe....? I am working in my home office today and have every window open so if I hear music, i am straight to the park.... stay tuned

Im GUTTED I cant go either and I very nearly bought a ticket for the pit. :S

.

There'll be another time right??

I mean, 4 years wasnt that long to wait, right?

Prince loves us and so surely he wont wait until he's nearing bankruptcy before touring the World and thusly England again though.....right?....Wont he...?
