"No cameras, video, cell phones, smart phones, recording devices of any kind allowed inside Paisley Park. Please leave those items in your car please. If you have these items on you, you will not be allowed in the Studio. Paisley Park is not responsible for your belongings" and 2 think I bought a ticket online and couldnt make it there is just killin me I'm leaving soon and was wondering if anyone had clarification on the cell phone thing, is that for real? It seems REALLY unsafe...

He would do a "surprise" show when I'm sick. "I've always been a huge, huge, Prince fan. Studied the guy's music...Even to this day, no one in music to me has captured that sensibility where your mind goes to a different place. It was complex, it was three-dimensional the way he wrote." -Jamie Foxx

http://www.startribune.co...21617.html "Prince's gig no walk in Paisley Park Last update: October 24, 2009 - 10:58 PM Prince never makes it easy for hometown gigs. To get to Paisley Park for his first gig there in five years, concertgoers had to go to a park'n'ride, then take an eight-minute (free) bus ride. Lots of first-timers showed up. But everyone had to leave their cell phones behind for Prince's concert, scheduled to start at 11 p.m." And that's all there is (so far). Again, I have no idea why the Star-Tribune put this up because there's really nothing of substance but at least it's something to read while we wait for REAL reports to start coming in. makes me think of his point he made that Americans will not respect his 'no cell phone' wish so it makes sense that they would have to be strict.....

This is quick cuz I'm tired & on my phone... Prince started the show shortly after 11 pm & with a couple breaks for encores it ended at 2 am. A solid three hour show. My highlights were: seeing & hearing "Guitar" live, the amazingly refreshing stripped down arrangement of "Kiss" (never my favorite live but this time he did it justice), obscure tracks like "Northside," his amazingly heartfelt moving rendition of "Sometimes It Snows In April" delivered with the silence & gravitas that literally brought tears to my eyes. He opened with new material, paid tribute to Minneapolis with classics like "Let's Work," etc., tasteful tributes to MJ, & of course his mentor Larry Graham who joined onstage for a few numbers. An amazing homecoming performance fit for a king.

Back from the show! 3 hours long, longest Prince show I have ever been to. I cursed myself earlier and said I hoped Larry Graham didn't get anywhere near the stage, but unfortunatley he did...and for about a 1/2 hour. It was Prince, Morris, Josh and Cora, Shelby, Elisa, and not sure of the other chick. He wore a black outfit with some furry boots almost up to his knees.

I don't think it was sold out. I went there at 7:00pm to buy tickets and after waitng an hour and a 1/2 we got up to buy our tickets and they said if you bought your wristband you could not leave. I wasn't about to stand out there for 3 more hours waiting, so I went back home. We went back at 10:30pm and parked the next street over from Paisley and got in no problem, only about 10 people in line. He started at 11:10pm, which was a shock. It was raining when we left, felt sorry for the people waiting for the bus to get to the park and ride.

Wow. He was really feeling The Time. Northside? Very cool. Would have loved to have been there. Purple Fact #542: Prince can make a Weebleâ„¢ fall down.

Really great show with some occasionally looser more intimate moments which left me a bit uninterested.

He made the comment "Minneapolis is my home, it will always be my home. I have an upstairs apartment on Aldrich, cash my check at Rudolphs, swim in Lake Calhoun...y'all know I'm lying". Which led into the song Uptown.

Hmmm... interesting. Did you see any cameras? I wonder if it was being filmed? Sounds like a great show. For detailed discussion and critical analysis of Prince Music, check out our Aussie podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com

I couldn't agree more. That was AWESOME. His little dance moves were great too. There was nothing wrong with that hip tonight! My biggest highlight has to be Forever In My Life. That could have gone on for another hour and I woulda been in heaven. Those 10 minutes were worth the price of admission. Anotherlover was fricking amazing too. Stopping the song so he could pull out his other guitar and do it justice... awesome. And it was very, very happy to hear Mountains. |
