NPGMC: 3rd rotterdam show in Nighttown, Members only.

I send NPGMC quite a long mail about how i think this cannot be a third show being it's AFTER a regular show and considering the size of Nighttown, etc.
Their response:

Hello

The third concert will be at the Nighttown and we will be selling tickets 2 the members from r site. We consider it a third concert 4 Rotterdam and not an aftershow.

And yes, this is legit, even when it says 'hello' in their response, not 'high'

Still no news on when this member-sale will start though.
Any day now, i guess.

Something like that. It's only 1000 tickets so if he really needs that cash... I doubt it.
It sucks. He doesn't care for his fans this way.

If it was a 'normal' aftershow most of the 1200+ members plus guests would have been inside.
Now he wants to get some cash (why not simply pay at the door?) and cause some extra hassle to even get the tixx.
This REALLY REALLY SUCKS.

Well, an aftershow could last for an hour, or maybe even less, but a real 'concert' at Nighttown would have to last for at least 2 hours!

So that's nice. BTW: my bank account has been empty after three ONA concerts already, so this one would only make it a bit worse wink

Hey !

I had 2 pay EUR 50,- entrance for my guest at the Dublin Aftershow at the Spirit-club.

So what's the difference ?

Anyhow, if it is on the same night as the concert, I will be there 4 sure. No matter how much. It's worth it.

However, if only that DJ P-diddy duddeley D should spin any records (especially "freaks on this side", what a crap song) I will start wrecking the place wink

They've been asked when the concert will take place. Answer:

High,
Right after the Ahoy show at the Nighttown, a different venue.

It's unnecessary.

For the money it's not worth the effort when your name is Prince (say 1000 people times 50 euro minus costs...).
Why not simply pay at the door when he really needs the cash?
Maybe Nighttown is causing the fuss? (if any)

mail to the npgmc:

First:
OK there will be an extra show in Rotterdam! That's cool! But to do it a small venue like Nighttown is really insane, this WILL cause utter chaos!!!

Second:
It appears that this extra concert is due right after the Ahoy concert from november 2nd, which makes it an AFTERSHOW. No matter what you say it is an AFTERSHOW. One of the principles of the NPGMC club is that members get in for free at the afterparty/show, but to my surprise (read: disappointment) you're gonna charge us an extra 50 bucks or even more...

Third:
I'm a die hard fan so I'm going to buy me and my girlfriend a ticket anyway, but wouldn't it be nice to give at least the date of the presale!!!??? Many of the really big fans do travel to see Prince you know, and I think you really really would disappoint those by not giving them a chance to
arrange something in case they aren't around at the time the presale starts!

High,

It's Prince's wishes and we support him 100%

High,

The agreement clearly states that it is subject to change at any time without given further notice. If you feel that this is not worth it, then don't order tickets.

High,

We have no further information at this point. Keep checking the sight.

Not real answers from NPGMC, but it will be quite similar.

Zannalee, what you said is in the same lines of what i said in my mail to them, which got me the response that i posted.

---
Afterparties (with or without a performance) supposed to be FREELY accessable to members who visited that nights show.
The announcement on the venue's site ('Prince Afterparty') + the late starting hour of the show combined with the type & capacity of the venue and the fact the afterparty for the October 15th show was at the same venue, all suggest this would be such an event: The afterparty where members will have access with their laminates fo that nights (November 2nd) Ahoy-concert.

The only difference i see is that Nighttown somehow saw it fit to announce this almost two weeks ahead of the event.

In no way I can see how this would be regarded just a third Rotterdam show.

There obviously won't be an accesible soundcheck OR afterparty to this show (being it is in itself an 'afterparty') and the 'normal show' (with its stage
et al) won't fit into this venue. Also the set played there isn't likely to be the 'typical concert set' as most if not all visitors (Dutch NPGMC clubmembers) will already be going to the Ahoy' show on that same night. And won't be interested to see the 'concert setlist' played twice on the same night.

Plus an afterparty for this 'regular concert' in Nighttown other than this event itself is unlikely. So member-visitors of that show won't have a soundcheck they can attend nor an afterparty. And still they would have to
manage to buy tickets (on the NPGMC site -- that, like the previous times tickets (for shows in The Netherlands) were sold undoubtingly will crash).

In short: No afterparty for Nov 2nd Ahoy show visitors.
And no soundcheck/preshow, nor an afterparty for Nighttown visitors.
Hence this cannot be considdered a 'normal' third concert.

don't count on it... here's how the show at nighttown will be: Prince will play between 8 and 10 songs. Candy will get a lot of solo's. Daddy Dulfer will come out and balance his saxaphone on his chin for a couple of minutes and attempt to play along on 2 songs. After 90 minutes it will be all over.

All in all i find this extremely dissapointing... it's really just milking us for everything we got. It makes me angry to think that we're being treaded with so little respect after showing so much support for Prince and forking so much money over already.

So maybe you should go to see another artist who gives you the respect you deserve and give you a second show for free. What, there is no other artist like that?

It's not milking us, it's his business, he offers us a product and want to be paid for that. And he gives us a show for "free" (as part of your membership) that's nothing
you should take for granted.

Why are you so angry ?
Why are you acting so surprised that Prince is being a prick ? I mean Come on people - Like you didn't know he's an asshole... Why would this move surprise you ?

If you are a true Prince fan/fam/whatever - you would know the way he works, this is no surprise to me , nor an insult - it's what you should expect from him these days ...

Yes I agree he is cashing in... so ? he is an artist and he sells his art ... you buy it - its called business...

You didnt really buy all that shit back in the 90's about business and art dont mix did you ? "i can release 6 albums a year when i am free" - what a fucking joke LOL

if you are so insulted and offended by this move by Prince then perhaps you should go and follow Joe4's advice...

Good thing i feel all mellow today, i almost got upset reading this.

I think i'm entitled to feel dissapointed after forking over 500+ euros already this year on membership and shows (this does not include merchandise and stuff like travelexpenses). Every clubmembers' specific understanding of the agreement between them and the npgmc is that aftershows are free for members. Npgmc have decided to change the rules just because they can get away with it... it's clearly about the money for them.

I've had the privilege of seeing prince perform aftershows 5 times over the past 10 years, and always had to pay some significant amount to get in (tivoli show in 98... they had a sign up outside the venue with the admission price... this sign got updated 3 times while we were waiting to get in ... upping the price each time). To me and most people here it's not about the money really ... it's about the lack of respect for his "customers" which is implied by changing the rules midgame.

I would appreciate not being called a whining sissie for stating these things.

In London and Dublin he gave an aftershow. Members got in for free, guests paid 50 Euro. Now (what it looks like) he's playing an aftershow like venue, after the regular show which in normal cases would be called an aftershow, similar to the London and Dublin situation. But now it seems also the members have to pay for it. And the admittance is no longer guaranteed for those who went to the concert, but it seems there's going to be another presale at NPGMC.
