I think that Nighttown gave the NPG free use of their club the first time but asked to be paid for the second party, so NPGMC is going to sell 500 tickets and Nighttown will get 500 tickets to sell. That's fair to the club. They need to get some money out of this too.

I don't think so. This second afterparty is organised on the request of Nighttown. They asked Prince to play there on november 2nd and he said yes.

I doubt if its a special show. Los Angeles got an extra show at the House of Blues and members had to pay $50 for tickets. It was just a regular aftershow type setlist. Nothing special was done. Larry and Tina were onstage if you want to call them "special guests."

O.k., back to the point:

The NPGMC considers this "aftershow" as being an extra concert.

Just leaving the "he wants extra cash"option out of perspective, what else could be the reason for this ?

Pure speculation is what's left; here's some:

* a special concert in terms of setlist or (acoustical) performance for his most dedicated fans before he leaves the continent ?
* filming (like then with sott, an extra concert was given to record extra footage for the movie) for a DVD to go with the announced live album ?
* introduction party & performance of the live CD set ?
* handing out signed ONA live CD's ? wink

What ever the reason might be for calling this an extra concert and pre-selling tickets to it again, I WISHED THEY MADE UP THEIR MINDS AND START THE PRE-SALE ALREADY! smile

I can't get anything done anymore, falling behind on my work, you name it, just because I keep checking every single e-mail immediately and checking and refreshing all the sites and hoping that I will be able to buy a ticket in time err

Nice to finally hear some positive things about this extra concert, I also think P has some nice things for us members

Well yes, I agree. Nighttown didn't make any money off the first party because the club was packed with members who got in free. The NPG probably didn't pay to use the club, so Nighttown didn't make any money.

I'm guessing they asked Prince to come back for the second show and they asked NPG if they could have some tickets to sell because that's the only way they are going to make any money on the deal.

It works like this: Prince takes admission fees, club takes all money spent on drinks etc.
So clubs always make some money from Prince showing up.

JeePee, U hit it in the right spot, an extra show the same nite is not an extra show, but an aftershow.

Aftershows should be inclusive for the members of that same nites performance. For the ones who went to London or Dublin, there were aftershows, can u imagine at the entrance of the club the cassier says

"OK your a member, but u have to pay, cuz Prince says it's not an aftershow but an extra show" Would u think of course sir or do u think what the fuck is this???
This is exactly the issue.

Now that's the point, and that's what Zannalee, Udo and JeePee are trying to say here. For everyone with comments, just read it first.

But how much money would the make at an normal evening with an own party people would pay admission? Probably more than the money from the drinks.

Ask Nighttown if Prince is paying them for using their club.

I think the NPG books whatever club will let them use it for free. That's why some of the clubs that get the afterparties and shows aren't really the best clubs in town.

mail to the npgmc:

First:
OK there will be an extra show in Rotterdam! That's cool! But to do it a small venue like Nighttown is really insane, this WILL cause utter chaos!!!

Second:
It appears that this extra concert is due right after the Ahoy concert from november 2nd, which makes it an AFTERSHOW. No matter what you say it is an AFTERSHOW. One of the principles of the NPGMC club is that members get in for free at the afterparty/show, but to my surprise (read: disappointment) you're gonna charge us an extra 50 bucks or even more...

Third:
I'm a die hard fan so I'm going to buy me and my girlfriend a ticket anyway, but wouldn't it be nice to give at least the date of the presale!!!??? Many of the really big fans do travel to see Prince you know, and I think you really really would disappoint those by not giving them a chance to
arrange something in case they aren't around at the time the presale starts!

100% correct ! Much props to Mr. Zannalee !

maybe we can better discuss all these matters AFTER the 3rd concert...then we know how long he has played, what the setlist was, what the price of the ticket was, how many members got in...etc...
and maybe the main reason prince let's us pay 4 the show is that there will be "fams"who would try to get into nighttown with laminates from previous shows...cause every laminates looks the same...

Just received mail from the npg club...
The person who answered my mail told that she had no information about an extra concert. It seems that everyone over there tells a different story. Let's wait and see what happens..try to relax a bit...all the best

FunkyStrange

"i'm entitled to feel dissapointed after forking over 500+ euros already this year on membership and shows (this does not include merchandise and stuff like travelexpenses). "

I would be dissapointed too, with myself that is...

"Now (what it looks like) he's playing an aftershow like venue, after the regular show which in normal cases would be called an aftershow"

A stated before this is NOT an aftershow - HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS NEED TO BE STATED ? Venue doesn't make a shit of difference - SO what if he plays in a stadium for 10,000 or a nightclub for 1,000, you think every show has to live up to your expectation of what it should be labeled ?
As stated before - Elvis and James Brown did 2, sometimes even 3 shows a night. Were the 2nd show or 3rd shows called aftershows ? NO they were all separate shows, all were sold that way - as separate concerts. Why do yoou think if a show starts after another it is automatically another aftershow ? This is another SEPARATE concert - GET IT ?

Correct me if I am wrong but I think it was earlier this year Prince did this same thing, he played one concert and then the 2nd concert started after 12am ... And it was just another concert ... NOT AN AFTERSHOW...

"It ain't no extra concert. It still is an aftershow. This has been explained."

Well NO it has been explained by NPGMC directly and various members on this site that is is an EXTRA concert. Some of you always claim 'well i will believe it when NPGMC says it" Well now they said it you still don't beleive it - what is wrong with you people ?? Can't speaka de Englishi ?

"It won't have the 'normal' setlist, timing is different, "

Well you must work for Prince since you know the exact setlist for a concert weeks from now ... So what if thew timing is different - What about concerts that start at 12pm or 4pm or 2am ? What has that got to do with anything ?
Oh Udo you would have to be Dutch, nobody else could be be so blind and complain so much ...

Ahhh Jee Pee thanks for shooting yourself in the foot better than I ever could...

"Extra show: Performance announced after the entire tour has been announced, examples are the November 2nd show in Rotterdam and the November 15 (?) show in Tokyo. This usually happens in the same size venues that the rest of the tour is performed at and due to heavy ticket demand. They also start at normal times around 8PM. Sometimes the extra show is a matinee performance."

Well SORRY --- WRONG !!!
The November 15 show is HALF the size of the other Tokyo shows... As is the Rotterdam concerg in a much samaller venue than the OTHER Rotterdam shows ..
Oh - have you no knowledge whatsoever ?
Whether the show starts at 12am or 12pm it is titled as an EXTRA show - Is it si simple to understand ENGLISH ?
Ahh but I See you are another dutch man - what a surprise.

and stylecipation -
"an extra show the same nite is not an extra show, but an aftershow. "

says who ? you ? Oh well it MUST be right if you said it ...
I will say it again - Elvis and James Brown did 2, sometimes even 3 shows a night. Were the 2nd show or 3rd shows called aftershows ? NO they were all separate shows, all were sold that way - as separate concerts. Why do yoou think if a show starts after another it is automatically another aftershow ? ok thats my 82cents...

Paying extra is unexpected but if poor little Prince needs the cash, OK, no problem.
It's this, the changing of the rules, the extra presale through the site (why not pay at the door? it appears that NPGMC will not sell all tixx) which causes stress.

In short: why do things have to be different over here?
If Nighttown has something to do with it: he better get real management.

20 euro means it's a party if it's an NPGMC thing and could indicate that someone is not THAT much after money.
Oh well.
How will they spread the tixx between members/guests and the general public?

Again according to De Volkskrant, it will be a concert and not a party. The article states that Prince and full band will give an extra concert at Nighttown on Friday November 2nd, being the last concert of the European tour.
