I love all cats and black cats are the best. LOVE 4 BLACK CATS.

Like you Nina, i don't understand why people don't pick black cats in rescue centres. I have never even thought about it i just pick a cat i like biggrin

Their so beautiful, there's one near me, he's a little panther, his fur is thick & dense, like velvet. What a handsome boy! I think it's tied 2 all the yrs they demonised black cats (well, cats in general) it's a holdover. All those women they burned 2 death 4 hundreds of yrs in Europe, they used 2 throw their cats/pets (& children!) in with em, called them their 'familiars'. Same way people still feel about foxes 2day, also demonised 4 hundreds of yrs.

I have two cats (one black short hair and another black and white longhair). They're sisters and we've had them since they were 7 weeks. I love them both but the black one in particular is so gentle and affectionate and very clever and intuitive she really is a blessing to have around. I have noticed the same affectionate trait in many black cats before and I often wonder if it was a coincidence or if it comes with that breed.

I've known many, many cats, I'm the expert cat stroker
lol At least a dozen used 2 literally wait 4 their morning stroke from me on my way 2 school every morning. I can't say I've noticed black cats being more affectionate, but will say I've never met one I didn't like or who scratched me. Of all the cats I've been scratched the most by pedigrees. They come up 2 u on the street & rub up against your leg etc, as soon as u start stroking they give you a good scratch! eek lol
4 some reason I've always had tabby's, little tigers, intelligent, gorgeous. I've always loved black cats & tortoiseshell's tho.

Expert cat stroker sounds like an ideal job title to me lol. I don't recall ever being scratched by a black cat either (luck perhaps lol) while my black and white (ragdoll type) cat who despite looking like a cute fluffy thing, regularly attempts to scratch me (I've become very good at avoiding it though, she never gets me). She's also very jealous of the black one or so it seems when she slaps her in the face if she gets served second. lol

See this world's got it all upside down, my stroking expertise & service rendered to the royal feline family should have me a millionaire with titles by now!
evil lol
There was interesting docu series not 2 long back, they put cameras all over these 2 streets & on the cats. Seems a lot of cats have a harder time living near each other than I originally thought.
Edit; It was on the BBC & it was called 'The secret life of the cat'.

Oh yes, I remember that show very well! biggrin I even watched the repeat, it was so interesting. We did the same last winter (putting a night camera in the house and outside in front of the catflap over a few days) as we could hear a lot of noise downstairs every night and we had noticed that our cats were looking nervous lately and also very hungry in the morning despite their bowls being totally empty. And well the videos were very informative to say the least. Our neighbour's cat was basically terrorising our cats out of our own house all night and eating most of their food. That was enough to convince me to get them both microchipped and to install a microchip catflap. Best thing we ever did. We've had peaceful nights and two happy cats ever since.

That's great. It can keep masked burglars out, too, like the raccoons that came in through the cat door and terrorized a neighbors cats. razz lol They may look cute and cuddly but in reality, they can be quite dangerous. They have no fear of humans. And leave nasty bites.

falloff At least we don't have to put up with racoons over here. There are a few foxes about but they know better and generally keep to their own territory. smile

It's interesting how foxes really adapted to the urban environment in England. I saw a great PBS documentary about it several years ago. smile I'll take a fox over a raccoon any day.
