First episode was on TV here in the UK tonight. Not great! Will persist for another few to see if it improves.

It will - the second ep is reminscent of the humorous episodes of old... and then the third weaves back into the storyline it sets up in the first.

I was obsessed with this show when it frist aired and am so happy it is back for a brief run. I wonder if they will decide to do more after these few?

I think it will but come back for a few episodes here and there. David Duchovny doesn't want to do the X-Files full time but has said he would do movies. I do think there will be more small doses of the X-Files (with Duchovny & Anderson) in the future.

I personally really hope for more TV seasons. I think The X-Files just don't translate that well to the Big Screen and TV has really improved since it first aired anyway.

Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

Yeah I hope they do more but it is really up to David Duchovny. Yes the movies didn't translate well especially the last one. Now that doesn't mean that can't make a good movie which stands on it's own. Not sure what you mean that TV has really improved since it first aired anyway??? Maybe you mean that Sci-Fi/Fantasy shows on TV are more accepted than I would agree. Reality TV, NO!!! Comedies have gone down hill.

That's 100% fake / fan-made. I recognize the Gillian Anderson photo from some photo shoot.

Hm, I don't know... I only remember reading that he will be referenced. But considering it's been quite an important part of the episodes so far, I wouldn't be surprised...

imo it would be cruel of them to keep making reference to a character we don't get to meet. then again, maybe i'm being a wee bit fammy lol

it's probably best for william if they don't find him. it's the reason they gave him up in the first place,

because him being just an anonymous average joe keeps him out of harms way.

he's probably somewhere on a farm, like some kind of 2010's superman lol

if they find him or he finds them or the cigarette smoking man finds him/already had him/whatever,
they can't just introduce him to us and spend only a little bit of time on him, he'd have to be some
sort of integral part of the show from that point on since he's the katalyst for every thread they've
spun through all the seasons to come together and explode in some huge revelation.

although, they have been mentioning a huge conspiracy being uncovered in the final episode hmmm

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

TV has indeed greatly improved since the 90s, but most of the improvements have been outside of network TV: Game of Thrones, The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Shield, Mad Men, Sherlock, House of Cards, etc.

i'm so glad chris carter and company re-assembled to bring us season ten. as a long-time fan it's comforting/reassuring to see mulder and scully carrying on, still carrying the mystery torch. older, wiser and more mature.

.

imo this is the best season of the series. it might be just me, but imo duchovny and anderson seem more comfortable in their own skins this time round. seasoned might be the word? they are both confident and unhesitating. they seem to be really enjoying themselves.

.

interesting that carter touched on the mysterious, origin-unknown trumpet sounds being heard all around the planet. youtube is full of that right now. wtf is up with that??? anyone have any ideas? it is truly weird

.

also i like that they asked the quantum question: do thoughts have weight/mass? studies suggest yes, they do. (hence, "prayer").

.

it seems to me that we are enjoying much more sophisticated themes this season. i wish we could continue enjoying a new episode every monday. imo this season should just.. keep going indefinitely.

That was easily the worst hour of television I have ever seen. I think Chris Carter is like George Lucas... "ok, thanks for creating The X-Files, now let us take over".
