Richard Simmons hasn't left his home in over 2 years...

His friends are worried his housekeeper may be keeping him hostage. What is going on with Richard Simmons? It IS weird! He hasn't gone to close friends' funerals, no one has seen him, he won't leave his house..... sad

SteelPulse1---- You're right! People have basically been rolling their eyes at him forever. sad But I love Richard Simmons! He's so sweet and seems so sincere. On Yahoo, it said that his friends are afraid his maid is holding him hostage! One friend said that 2 years ago Richard met up with him and said, "I can't see you ever again, I'm going to be in my home and can't come out" and the friend asked if it was his maid's making him do this and he said "Yes" ---- ???? I've actually heard of this happening before. Poor Richard Simmons. Someone needs to grab Barbara Streisand and bring her to his yard. He's been dying to meet her forever.

Seems strange, friends who haven't seen him in years haven't been to his front door? Is he turning them away? Not answering the door bell? I'm sure the sheriff's department makes visits for people who just simply disappear. OR. These are friends Richard has chosen not to associate himself with at this time because they talk to the media too much perhaps and he needs to be out the public eye for a moment.

From what I've been reading the last few months on TMZ and on Yahoo, friends have been to his house but his housekeeper turns them away. They have sent the police to check on him and the police meet with him, he says he's fine, but still hasn't left his home in 2 years. You know, for anyone else I could see it but Richard Simmons CARES about his fans and I'm sure he is a very loyal friend. It is certainly strange for him to not attend funeral's of close friends and to not go to his fitness centers (which he used to constantly be at according to TMZ) I sure hope he's okay. sad

He could be suffering from agoraphobia. I knew a lady that didn't leave her house in over 5 years because of this disability. She wouldn't let anyone come in, either.

Could be. His beloved dalmation died just before all this so maybe he's in a deep depression.

Richard Simmons spoke exclusively to ET on Sunday, addressing recent reports about why he had not been seen in public in more than two years.

"I am not kidnapped," the 67-year-old fitness guru told ET's executive producer, Brad Bessey, by phone. "I am just in my house right now."

"No one should be worried about me," Simmons said. "The people that surround me are wonderful people who take great care of me."

On Saturday, the New York Daily News published a long report citing on and off the record sources who expressed concern for Simmons' well-being.

Simmons called the report "very hurtful."

"I love all the people who worry about me," Simmons said. "But it was time for me to take some time to be by myself. For the last 40 years I have been traveling, teaching classes, and I had a knee injury, so I had a knee replacement, which was very difficult for me... I have really just been taking it easy, staying at home, working out in my gym and doing the things I haven't done in a very long time."

According to Simmons, he's been keeping in shape despite concern that he might need another knee replacement. In response to speculation he has avoided going out because he has gained weight, Simmons said, "I still weigh 150. I work out every day. I have a gym at the house, and I am very healthy."

Simmons was last photographed in January 2014 by TMZ.

In November 2014, reports of Simmons' knee injury surfaced. Simmons took to Facebook then to thank his fans for their "outpouring of love and concern."

"I have had a tough time dealing with this injury, as it is keeping me from doing what I truly love to do and that is to teach classes around the world," he wrote. "Make sure you keep Sweatin'!"

The Sweatin' to the Oldies creator made his last public appearance in December 13, 2013, at SPARKLE: An All-Star Holiday Concert at ACME Comedy in Los Angeles.

"This is how I want to live my life right now," Simmons told ET on Sunday. "And to all the people that are worried about me, please don't be. If I was in any trouble, if I was hurting in any way, I would reach out. It is time right now for Richard Simmons to take care of Richard Simmons."

Richard is worth around $15 Million...So he does not have to do Gigs anymore. He was on Wendy a while back...Maybe he's going through a long bout of depression or something else...His housekeeper is probably like family to him...He's being taken care of even if he's going through something...Friends & Police should worry when he fires all his Staff and that has not happened...

He probably got fat. I'm surpised he's only worth $15 million. Every household in the 90s had a Richard Simmons video.
