ThisOne	Hankies should b thrown out - not reused or washed with undies socks t shirts t towels bed linen..... They r disgusting and should b banned Please throw out your dirty old hankies and buy a box of tissues ! Please!!! Hankies are a bit gross, but they're far more eco-friendly. They just need to be washed frequently.

Im with the OP. THey are disgusting.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

My dad has carried a fresh handkerchief every day of his adult life. Pretty sure he developed the habit in the military and continued it later. (Though who knows, my grandma might have started him on it before that.)

My mother has always washed and ironed them so they're neat and he has a clean supply. In fact, hankies are how I learned to iron. My mom started us ironing hankies (I think I was 7), then when we could do those perfectly, we graduated to pillowcases (more difficult because they're two layers). When we could do those, she taught us how to iron clothing.

I don't think a handkerchief is any grosser than having a wad of Kleenex in your pocket. Or accidentally washing your pants with Kleenex still in the pocket and having them wad up or shred in the laundry.
