Why Sophia Loren was side eyeing Jayne Mansfield in iconic photo...
Almost six decades after the iconic photo of Sophia Loren oddly eyeing Jayne Mansfield was taken, Loren has explained her peculiar side eye in the pic. Loren, now 80, spoke to Entertainment Weekly in promotion of her memoir "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: My Life."
She explained the setting 57 years ago, saying, "Paramount had organized a party for me. All of cinema was there, it was incredible. And then comes in Jayne Mansfield, the last one to come. For me, that was when it got amazing." She continued, "She came right for my table. She knew everyone was watching. She sat down. And now, she was barely… Listen. Look at the picture. Where are my eyes? I’m staring at her nipples because I am afraid they are about to come onto my plate. In my face you can see the fear. I’m so frightened that everything in her dress is going to blow — BOOM! — and spill all over the table." Loren also explained why she won't autograph this picture. "Many, many times I am given this photo to autograph it. And I never do," she said. "I don’t want to have anything to do with that. And also out of respect for Jayne Mansfield because she’s not with us anymore."

I see this very much like Jayne trying to put Sophia in her place being very territorial bout who's who in hollywood. [Edited 11/6/14 21:46pm] The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

Clearly she was using her weapons of mass destruction.

Jayne was trying to steal Sophia's thunder-I read this event was about Sophia not Jayne. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I personally think Sophia's chest was bigger, but ok...

> Julie Bowen loves playing second fiddle to Sophia Vergara. Joan Crawford had a similar story when Marilyn Monroe showed up at a party with a barely there dress. There was a new breed of sex-kitten starlets populating the landscape at that time and the old school girls weren't having it.

But that's what Mansfield was all about! LOL On a side note, her daughter Mariska Hargitay plays one of my favorite chatacters ever on Law and Order SVU... [Edited 11/7/14 21:35pm] "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Honestly, I'd take Julie Bowen over Sofia any day, and have thought that for a long time. And actually that photo was supposed to jokingly recreate the Sophia/Jayne photo. [Edited 11/7/14 22:44pm]

1. You crazy!
2. I thought this photo was a photoshop... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

2. I thought this photo was a photoshop... No way! For some reason I've always found Julie Bowen incredibly sexy. She was great in Weeds and I've seen her in a ton of things and she always really draws my attention. [Edited 11/11/14 23:15pm]

Yes, I think it was a meme too. But it also reminds me of their characters in the show, that she is overshadowed by her stepmom and her hubby is always fawning over 'Gloria'.

Clearly she was using her weapons of mass destruction. It appears that way but at least Sophia handled the situation with class.
