Someone on the thread speculated it may have been about the Woody Allen comments from the two of them that sealed their fate. I wouldn't be surprised if that had a lot to do with their firing because Lord knows there have been other women on the show who were just as or more annoying than Sherri and Jenny but they weren't fired after one season.

Did Sherri & Jenny comment on the Family Fued that is going on between woody and his Son/MSNBC anchor Ronan Farrow? For years Sherri would say things that sorta rubbed Babs the wrong way..I know some don't believe this, but Sherri said things intentionally to hype up herself even if her comments were stupid...Some say she was being her true self and I say Sherri thought her schtick was entertaining..It worked for 7yrs but I don't think Babs ever cared for some of her antics...Sherri is a likable person but I saw Babs correct her "jokes" many times...that Frustrated Old Lady Money Bags...Didnt Sherri say she didnt know the Earth was round and tried to defend her argument?...LOL....Sherri thought that Shit was Funny but people dogged her out...LOL..

Oh, I didn't know anything about Ronan Farrow and MSNBC. That's an interesting situation, it seems. I think you're right about Sherri playing a strange role. She was the loud, "angry", longsuffering black woman. Not the type that are typically cast on the soap operas that ABC airs wink

Here's an interesting development. Seems that Sherri is now denying that this kid that is about to be born is even hers at all:

It's probably best that Sherri's not talking in front of the cameras at the moment.

You know, my Heart goes out to Sherri becuz we all go through trials and so do the Rich & Famous. Now if I was a judge I'd tell Mrs. Shepherd that I sympathize with her troubles but she doesn't get to toss the Surrogacy baby aside because The Shit has hit the Fan. I understand that her Eggs weren't used but she planned the entire Surrogacy pregnancy with her Husband. As a Judge I'd grant her custody and I'd grant Sal visitation rights. I know she wants all of this to go away but that Innocent baby is coming into the world sometime this month and as a Judge I'd do what was in the best interest of that baby...For years Sherri sat on that panel and did a lot of talking about God & The Church..God ain't telling her to walk away from that innocent baby just becuz she doesnt want to pay child-support...

I saw somewhere else online that she's trying unload one of her houses all of a sudden. I guess she doesn't want too many assets going into trial. Although common sense suggests that this guy was playing her like a fiddle, the judge will probably be more sympathetic with the ex-husband. From what I understand surrogacy laws are blurry, if non-existent, so I have no clue how this might turn out.

It's a shame that this is playing out in front of the media as well but this is quite a strange story. She's involved in two lawsuits with ex-hubby 1 and now soon-to-be ex-hubby 2....

I haven't watched The View in years (especially once they cut international streaming from the ABC website), so I wasn't even aware how far it had fallen in quality in recent years. I do think, however, that it"s obviously lost a bit of verve and shine from its' inceptive years. As much as I would theoretically miss Barbra as a flagship presence for all her pioneering achievements and innovations for women in tele- journalism, I did notice in the few longform youtube clips I'd seen over time that she had become forgetful, crochety, and not fit for the flow of modern talk tv fror a while now. It's good that she retired for the sake of herself and the program, yet to me it felt as if something was lost in the spirit of what was originally intended for the show in her departure.

Anyhoo....it would seem that you can pretty much stick a fork in this thing, it's so done. It's baked poop on toast done pooptoast

If you were a Judge how would you handle Sherri/SaL & the Surrogacy baby? Would it be easy for you to give Sherri a "pass" simply because her life is a MESS and she wants to hide under a rock? We all go through TERRIBLE stuff but we have to face it and deal with it.

I have no idea what's going to happen. I imagine that a lot of the backroom deals that are made would still have an effect on the end result here. If she's got a fancy schmancy lawyer, she can steamroll her soon-to-be ex-husband.

If it turns out that the baby was conceived without Sherri's eggs, and Sal is just using this as a way to get money from her, I think it would be funny as hell if the judge would rule that Sal can have the baby he so badly wants (yeah, right) and raise it on his own with no help financially from Sherri. Wouldn't be right for the baby, but in the end, I'm sure he doesn't much care about the baby anyway, this was just part of his plan so that he could get as much money from her as he can. Terrible.

After a court hearing on Monday morning, some reporters were asking him questions. Some he dodged, others he answered. The only thing he'd say about the kid on the way is that he's been looking forward to being a father for his entire life.

Too bad that this guy waited until he met a desperate millionaire before taking the plunge! lol

SeventeenDayze- I used to like Sherri before the View but then on the View (especially a few years ago) I started hating her! She seemed to have an attitude all of a sudden and was getting a little "Star Jones-ish" and I couldn't stand her- but lately she's getting back to being somewhat nice and I feel sorry for her. This Sal guy seemed like a sweet, big ole teddy bear when they married and he sure had me fooled! (from the very few times I saw him on there with her) so I can see how she fell for his ass- he even sucked up to her son. He's awful though, now it's very obvious what his game was all along. Smh.

... and by the way, What is this, "If Sherri goes, I go?" bs from Jenny McCarthy? WTF is she even talking about? Sherri said in her goodbye on the View that she CHOSE not to renew her contract and this is Jenny McCarthy's first fucking year! What is this high school? Her leaving has nothing to do with Sherri, either she was fired or she couldn't hang- but she looks ridiculous saying it's because Sherri's going-

Superfan, I feel the same way. I liked her, then she got on my nerves and now I feel bad for her. It's written all over her face these days that she's sad. It's just so obvious. I watched a few seconds (literally) of the show this morning and Jenny McCarthy was saying a few sarcastic statements here and there but Sherri mostly wore a sad face in between smiles.

I think ABC is awful for leaking it out to the media damn near two weeks before they returned from the brief hiatus to make the official announcement that they were leaving. That was a tacky move. I tried watching the show this morning but it was just too awful. Even the guest they had came on there and said he too was leaving the view and Jenny's response was funny---"there's a lot of that going on around here"....Man, the best days of The View are over.

Unless they somehow land Michael Strahan, I doubt I'll watch the show as much as I used to!

Yes, Jenny was dead wrong for saying if Sherri goes that she goes. The axe was already dropped! Saving face is one thing but silliness is another! I guess she's embarrassed by how abrupt this all happened, right after her over-the-top freakout that she did the day that she announcement her engagement to Donnie Wahlberg.

Agreed SeventeenDayze! I have lost all respect for Jenni McCarthy (and strangely, Sherri has gained my respect back) Jenni McCarthy has just shown that she is unable to hold down a "serious" job. She should keep the bitchy comments to herself and consider herself lucky to have been given the position in the first place. Talking bad about your job or your employer is childish shit. I cannot stand my boss but I dont' join in when people talk about her and I keep all snarky comments to myself (no matter how much I would LOVE to voice them) Jenni McCarthy just needs to go back to silly MTV interviews on the red carpet as she's obviously not matured. Btw, has anyone noticed how now, since she was wrong about her son being autistic and he isn't, she now says "I am part of the autistic community" instead of "my son is autistic" - which she used to say because she had apparently diagnosed him herself and determined it was from vaccinations he recieved and she was wrong on both parts- God, she's dumb. Why did they hire her in the first place? What were they thinking?

Jenny seems to have a hard time being taken seriously. Maybe in part it's because of her looks and also a lot of people remember her Playboy/MTV days as well. She just seems like she's not believable and not marketable. I was stunned to hear she had a book out and after the axe dropped it made sense to me why she was promoting some kinda book on every show imaginable.

Not two weeks after word broke that both Sherri Shepherd and Jenny...rting ways with the talker — news that each of the ladiesconfirmed on Monday’s telecast — TMZ is reporting that O’Donnell, who cohostedThe View during its 2006-07 cycle, is in “active negotiations” to return for Season 18, and that a deal could be closed “shortly.”

Whoopi and Rosie are almost a carbon copy of each other. Why in the world are they bringing Rosie back? I think this upcoming season, or perhaps the season after which would be its 20th, will be its last.

You're reading what Jenny Tweeted the wrong way....They both were fired the same night and at the same time...Jenny allowed Sherri to Tweet the news first then Jenny went behind Sherri and Tweeted that comment..The night they got fired they Tweeted a pic of Jenny/Sherri & Donnie at the computer laughing....Don't be Mad at Jenny she knew it was a 1yr contract but she had hoped it would be extended to a multi-year contract.

I agree 1,000%....One needs to go...But if there's one person that can make Rosie bring it down-a-notch it's def Whoppi as Moderator. Rosie ain't gonna get up in Whoopi's face backstage like she did with Babs...Is it confirmed that Rosie is def returning or is that just an ongoing rumor?

TMZ is making it look like a done deal but the other media outlets haven't done as far. I think sometimes these shows like to leak information so that they can be sure that the story is old news by the time the official announcement is made. It's a tactic well-crafted by politicians and actors alike smile Afterall, aren't they the same? smile

I just can't see Rosie back on the show playing second fiddle to Whoopi but then again she did do a better job as moderator.

Sarah Paiin as a possible host? That would be great but I don't see that happening as well. I know they want a conservative point of view and Sarah would be a good fit but I remember Elizabeth practically kissing her ass during the 2008 presidential campaign and never once she appeared on the show even after to promote her book. You know Whoopi would shut her down if Sarah said something 'out of pocket' like she use to do to Elizabeth.

Everyone has a View about Rosie O'Donnell officially rejoining the ABC show.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck called into Fox News Channel's Fox & Friends — which she currently co-hosts — from vacation and ripped O'Donnell's then-rumored return, and now, former View co-host Joy Behar is getting in on the sparring action.

"I know Rosie very well. We worked quite closely," Hasselbeck said on Wednesday morning. "Talk about not securing the border. Here in comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network, and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there."

Hasselbeck fumed that after nearly seven years, O'Donnell is, "coming back with a bunch of control ready to regain The View with a seat at that table. Not surprising."

Speaking to CNN's Don Lemon, Behar expressed her disapproval of Hasselbeck's remarks.

"I thought that was really kind of below the belt — to say that she spits in the face of the military. I would like Elisabeth to explain herself," she said, after calling O'Donnell "edgy" earlier in the segment. "What does she mean by that? And isn't it kind of a nasty thing to say about somebody who basically is a good person?"

Behar, who left The View in 2013 after 16 seasons, also pointed out that O'Donnell's son is in military school. She continued, "That's a dangerous thing to say about somebody ... I think it's a hate-filled remark. And she should explain it."

At the top of Thursday's episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg — who will be Season 18's moderator — addressed the escalating situation.

"The View is gonna evolve like it always has [so] quit trying to make something happen and let whatever is gonna happen, happen," she said sternly. "And we hope you will join us when we come back."

During her anti-Rosie rant, Hasselbeck suggested that there would likely be tension between Goldberg and O'Donnell upon her return as co-host.

"Anybody who is going to be in that seat … will have to be fully approved by Rosie,” Hasselbeck speculated. “Whoopi is not going to let anybody control her … She is the leader on that show. I am going to be very interested to see how that goes.”

ABC confirmed O'Donnell's return on Thursday.

Adding another name to the fire, The Wrap reports that Meghan McCain will guest-host The Viewnext week amid talk of her joining the show's panel full-time.

Hasselbeck has yet to comment on her remarks any further, while O'Donnell appears unfazed.

O'Donnell also replied to a fan, negating Hasselbeck's claim of how she handled herself during the taping of Barbara Walters's farewell episode.

We have a feeling there will be no shortage of drama when Season 18 of The View kicks off this fall.
