i've only watched portlandia a couple of times (liked it).

here is a picture of powell's city of books. it's an entire warehouse with multiple levels and weird little nooks where you can spend all day reading or browsing around

I've onlyseen "Portlandia" once and it didn't make me laugh.

But somehow, the fact there's a dude playing a violin in front of that ultra-cool bookstore seems just so right.

And I'm pretty sure that car reflected in the door is a VW Beetle but all bent up like that, it looks like an AMC Pacer.

It would be perfect if that really was an AMC Pacer.

Brick-&-Mortar.

I love the smell, look, and feel of a old, well-kept, bookstore. My partner hates going with me,

because I will spend all day in a bookstore and not even realize how much time has passed.

I also have a Kindle, which is packed with literature, but I never use it. I used it a few times the

first month that I owned it, but after that,I was just not impressed. I liked being able to take it

with me on the go and also felt like I read a lot faster on it. But something is just missing (other than

the book itself). I can't explain the feeling.

I will take having a physical copy of a book anyday. These days I don't even bother to look at the

e-book price before making a purchase. I just wished shipping was a bit faster these days neutral

You're thinking of Strand. Love that place. I've stopped by every time I've been to NYC.

Which is 3 times, I think?

But yes, sounds very similar. Multiple levels, lots of little nooks and you can spend all day there.

er

Do we only have Americans here? My favorite bookstore is in Amsterdam, but if I ever make it to Portland... As far as I know it's a very nice city. According to a travel magazine I once read.

It is a VERY travel friendly city, and a beautiful city in general if you have a reason to visit.

Powell's is easily one of my favourite bookstores. I have spent entire days reading and browsing there. I sleep most nights in a Powell's T-Shirt. smile
