As noted before, Christian's appearance at TNA Slammiversary was indeed part of WWE and TNA's deal put together a few months back that allowed Ric Flair to appear at the Hall of Fame. WWE very carefully controlled what Christian was and was not allowed to say at the pay-per-view.

Christian got along well with everyone there but did not want to be there. He told people it was surreal to be there and he expected no heat from within WWE. When WWE and TNA were putting the deal together, Christian wanted no part of it. He was strongly advised to cooperate after WWE began to advertise Flair for the Hall of Fame.

WWE would have allowed TNA to promote the appearance on their live go-home episode of Impact Wrestling but Dixie Carter instead chose to keep the announcement off TV and take it to Twitter, hoping to get the internet buzzing on the Friday before Slammiversary.

Sources in both WWE and UFC are skeptical about how bad the recent meeting between Dana White and Brock Lesnar really was. White said that the meeting was one of the worse he ever had with Lesnar and not part of a WWE angle but there are people on both sides who believe it was.

WWE sources almost universally believe that Lesnar has an iron-clad deal and there is no way he can fight for UFC until that contract expires after WrestleMania 29 in 2013. In UFC, people are insisting that Lesnar's WWE deal is non-exclusive and that he and White were discussing a potential fight during their recent meeting.

Not everyone in UFC thinks Lesnar will fight with the feeling that even if his WWE contract allowed him to fight, his heart really isn't into MMA and this is all some sort of ploy by Lesnar to increase his bargaining power or leverage with WWE.

Rumors continue to swirl that Randy Orton's continued employment with WWE is in jeopardy following their announcement May 30 that he was being suspended for 60 days for his second violation of the Talent Wellness Program.

F4WOnline.com reports Tuesday that Vince McMahon is livid with Orton, particularly since he was so "outspokenly indifferent" to the suspension. Another source says Orton was hastily benched to ensure that he return before SummerSlam on August 19, but "something happened" shortly after the announcement that infuriated the WWE Chairman. This has led to discussions of Orton not being brought back at all after his suspension concludes.

Former WCW announcer Mark Madden stated last Thursday via Twitter that WWE is looking to terminate their partnership with Orton since he's considered difficult to deal with and due to the belief that his value has plateaued.

There are people within WWE saying Orton's time away from the squared circle 'isn't going to be that big a problem.' For the first time, officials are openly categorizing CM Punk as the second-ranked babyface rather than the two as equals. Many also feel SmackDown's babyface side will be sufficient with Sheamus, Christian, Sin Cara, Rey Mysterio returning soon from suspension and the option to turn Daniel Bryan at a moment's notice. Orton has made and saved a lot of money during his career and resides in an area where he could live comfortably for several years without financial worry. His wife Samantha also comes from a well-to-do family, so not having a steady income is reportedly not a major concern for him.

There is a 'small, vocal pocket' within the sports entertainment organization lobbying for Orton's termination. Those opposing his return feel his lucrative ten-year contract—signed in January 2010—can no longer be justified if he is brought back in a mid-level role. His second suspension hinders WWE from continuing to feature Orton in headline role since a third drug-testing policy infraction would result in automatic termination, or, as some have stated, a "one-year suspension."

In another potential factor, there is concern over the physical state of Orton, who has incurred numerous injuries over his twelve-year career. Some officials believe his body is breaking down and there are questions regarding the state of his neck and spine.

Smackdown Spoilers (to be aired on 6/15):

The show opens with an in-ring promo. WWE Champion CM Punk, Sheamus, AJ, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan and Vickie Guerrero are arguing in the ring. The tag match with Punk and Sheamus vs. Ziggler and Bryan is up first.

Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan defeated CM Punk and Sheamus. After the match, Kane came out and chokeslammed Punk and Sheamus.

Brodus Clay defeated Heath Slater in a squash match, it was about 20 seconds long. David Otunga ran out and attacked Brodus after the match, working over his knee. Brodus had to be helped to the back by 5 referees.

Beth Phoenix defeated Alicia Fox. The finish was botched and they re-filmed Phoenix hitting Fox with the Glam-Slam.

John Laurinaitis is in the ring with The Big Show. Not much happened, just hyping this Sunday's PPV.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Christian defeated Jack Swagger (with Vickie Guerrero). After the match (in what likely won't be aired), Triple H came out and gave Swagger a pedigree. HHH then chased Vickie around the ring and to the back.

Ryback defeated two local wrestlers. Ryback kept chanting "feed me more" after the match.

Damien Sandow defeated Tyson Kidd.

John Cena came out to call out the Big Show. Instead, John Laurinaitis came out. Cena ended up knocking Laurinaitis out. The show ended here.

Afterward, Cena left and Big Show and David Otunga came out for the dark match main event. John Cena is back out to face Show and Otunga in a handicap match. Otunga and Show dominated the match. Otunga held Cena and Show went for the WMD, but Cena ducked. Cena sent Show out of the ring and pinned Otunga to win the match.

We noted before that Paul Levesque (Triple H) is now listed as the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations on WWE's corporate website, instead of John Laurinaitis. This is a change making official what has been the case for a while.

Laurinaitis has worked under Triple H and Triple H has hired new people like Canyon Cemen and Jane Geddes. Geddes is Vice President of Talent Relations and is doing a lot of the work Laurinaitis was doing. Cemen is running Talent Development and is reporting to Triple H.

Laurinaitis has had many of his duties reduced as of late and the expectation is that his job will be changed in some form down the line as Triple H puts his own hires in key positions. Laurinaitis is still booking WWE live events but the writers are more involved in that as there is a movement within the company to make the live events more like the TV shows. Laurinaitis is also doing the talent payroll but has been spending more time on the road as a talent.

Recently, former World Heavyweight champion Mark Henry was interviewed by HOT93.7 and discussed a number of topics. Topics included; his injury, his return, retirement, his favorite wrestlers and rappers and more. Here are some of the highlights:

On his push to the main event in 2011: "It's not so much a push, that's all wrestling jargon. I paid my dues over the years to be one of the greatest wrestlers in the industry today. It's not about what everybody else thinks it is. It's about what it really is: fan support. I got a lot of fan support.

"I did my due diligence, I'm one of the best wrestlers on the planet. That's the end of it."

On how disappointed he was with his injury: "Well, it's a part of the business. Everybody has injuries. I'm in the process of healing up and I'll be 100% when I come back. If I come back. We'll see what happens.

"I [injured myself] at Survivor Series, so, it was three months (of wrestling injured). It is what it is. Everybody out there is hurting with something. ... It's what athlete's do. You fight injuries, you try to do it to the best of your abilities and you pray and hope that on the day of the competition or the event, that you're 100% or that you're well enough to get it done."

On his top five all-time wrestlers: "Andre would come first. He would sell out more cards in history. The Rock and Hulk Hogan -- I would put right there at a tie. Ric Flair, Triple H and Shawn Michaels. It would be like a three-way tie between them. The Undertaker. You know, it's hard not to put The Undertaker in the same breath as Hogan and Rock because not only has he served more years as them, but collectively, I'm sure he's sold out and made more money than all of them."

On the match he's been in of which he is most proud: "There are a lot of different matches for different reasons. I'm most proud of being in the ring with The Undertaker at WrestleMania 22. But, I've had so many break-through moments in my career that picking one would be doing my career a disservice."

On whether or not he plans to come back and the prospects of retirement: "They say (I'll be back in) three months. Athletes always come back sooner than that. It's up to me. Right now, there's a lot of things on my mind as far as my career is concerned. I just have to get all that addressed before I think about coming back.

"(Once I do retire), I'm definitely going to do some TV and film. I've turned down more stuff than I can sit here and name. I have aspirations of having my own company or working with WWE in the developmental process. There's a lot I can do. ... I don't know if I can train, but I don't have the tolerance for all the bull.

"A lot of people think they know more than you. I wouldn't be able to put up with it. I don't have the aptitude to coach or instruct. But, front a booker or agent stand point, I'd be able to do that."

On his favorite rappers of all time: "If I was going to start, I would say Biggie because I'm just a Biggie fan. 'Pac, Eminem, Rakim, KRS-One. For his tenure, nobody in the game has been more than LL Cool J. So, you always have to put people in that place for their body of work. Who's had more albums than LL Cool J?"

WWE Champion CM Punk at Comic-Con in Philadelphia telling a story about how he and Kofi Kingston were pulled over and harassed by police in Missouri.

"Him and I constantly, constantly get pulled over and always, always harassed because of how I look, and I'm with an African-American gentleman with dreadlocks," Punk said. "And you cannot tell that cop there is no weed in the car. He thinks he's hit the mother lode... There was one time it got really, really bad. We are in Missouri and we were driving... He is black. He has dreadlocks. I am covered in tattoos, and I look like I know how to make some pretty good meth.

"The cops pulled us over, the cops ask me all kinds of questions, I know where this is headed... it's happened to me a dozen times. The cop says, 'Coffee (referring to Kofi Kingston), do you mind stepping out of the car?'... I said, 'Kofi, you do not have to get out of the car.' Kofi is a little bit naive, I have a little bit more 'city miles' on myself, as I like to say. Kofi's like, 'what's the big deal?'

"Kofi gets out of the car, I watch in the rear-view mirror as the man immediately starts 'cuffing Kofi... So now other squads are pulling up, it's ridiculous. Four other squad cars, two state troopers; six cop cars on the side of the road [and] they're all trying to get me out of the car... (I said) 'I can hear you fine from in here.'

"(Officer says) 'For the last time, do you want to tell us if there's something in the car?' I was like, 'dude, there's nothing in the car.' (Officer replies) 'Well, can we search it?' (Punk replied) 'I would rather you didn't, we have places to be,' this is turning ridiculous.

"So I get out of the car, they start 'cuffing me... I've been in trouble a few times in my life, Kofi hasn't, so as they're trying to maneuver me around the car, I'm like, 'no, I wanna stand right in front of the camera, where the camera's at.' I know things... there are all like borderline kick yokel cops, we're in Missouri for Christs-sake.

"They put Kofi in one squad car, the finally put me in another squad car and we watch as they dismantle our rental car to the point where they're putting rubber gloves on and they're going through jugs or protein and they're just spilling it out on the highway.

"I'm in a cop car by myself and I'm starting to get nervous because there's now two canine cars, so there's now eight squad cars for two phony pro wrestlers. All it takes is one of these cop to plant something ridiculous... it sounds crazy, but trust me, it does happen...

"They come back around and they're like, 'we're going to ask you one more time, is there anything in the car?' That when I just had it. I'm like, 'let me out of the car, let me out of the car.' They let me out of the car, I walk out in front of the camera and if you thought the promo I cut on RAW in July in Vegas was bad, I let these guys have it. And Kofi was just like, 'sir, let's just go.'

"That's just one story, and it's certainly not isolated. It happens to us frequently."

TMZ broke the story ... Maven accepted rehab assistance from the WWE after he was arrested back in April for scamming more than 1,000 prescription pills from various doctors in the Florida area.

Now, after completing 50 days in a rehab facility, Maven tells us he has moved into a sober living facility and "has never felt better."

"I owe the WWE my life for helping me through this situation."

35-year-old Maven -- who won a WWE contract on the reality show Tough Enough in '01 -- says he hopes to get another shot with the organization ... inside or outside of the ring.

"Chapter 2 of my life begins now" Maven tells us, "I have the clarity and focus that comes with sobriety and will never let my family, friends and fans down again."

Former WWE talent Kenn Doane (a.k.a Kenny Dykstra) continues to rail against John Cena on his Twitter account.

As noted earlier, Doane said on the micro-blogging website this week that he believes Cena is among those within the company lobbying for Randy Orton's dismissal following his second violation of the Talent Wellness Program. A Twitter user chastised Doane for spreading rumors about Cena. He responded, "Everyone is entitled to their beliefs. I'm sure his [adultery] in his marriage is a rumor by me too? Or is it truth being told?"

Doane also recalled a negative backstage encounter he had with Cena at a WWE show last November. After being asked whether the multi-time champion was good or bad to him during his time with the organization, he responded, "We were cool until last time I was there he hated me. Didn't even want to talk or shake hands. Everyone else was cool though."

Doane then posted a message Thursday in response to Cena fans agitated by his remarks: "Before I get hate tweets from Cena fans, just know I'm not lying. Have no reason too. His issue is his issue. Sure he has bigger problems #RafoolLaw."

Doane continued, "[Cena] will never respond cuz 1 its the truth everything I said and 2 he has bigger problems #RafoolLaw '#BigShow' '#Johnny' b4 #KD'struth."

Doane added, "I say things others are afraid they will get 'heat' for. I don't care. Truth is truth."

He is also not upset with wrestling news outlets reporting his Twitter remarks. "They covered everything I said. If it wasn't true I wouldn't of wrote it," Doane said.

Doane, who at one point was engaged to fellow wrestler Mickie James, says he split with the then-WWE Diva after discovering that she was cheating on him with Cena.

"Oh hell no," Doane wrote Friday to an uninformed follower asking whether he was still engaged to James. "Broke up with her once I found out she was cheating with John. #Rat."

James' relationship with Cena briefly turned into a WWE storyline in mid-2008, which included a backstage segment where Cena returned an item that James had forgotten at his place (video at the end of this post). The angle ceased once the two broke up. They, however, remained friends as late as May 2009, with James proclaiming then during an interview with GoErie.com that Cena was 'one of her road pals.'

"I hang out with John. He's a sweetheart, and he's very personable," James said.

Cena married his high school sweetheart, Liz Huberdeau, two months later. Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer later implied in a thread on the F4WOnline.com message board concerning Cena and James' relationship that James was transferred from Raw to SmackDown in the fall of 2009 because she didn't professionally handle breaking up from Cena, thus forcing organization officials to separate the two from each other at work.

Four-time WWE champ Mickie James wins respect the hard way -- by working as hard as the men.

Not so long ago, a woman could enter a boxing or wrestling ring only if she was a knockout and carried a sign with the round number on it.

No more. Women climb into the ring and rack up pins, if not knockouts of their own. They may not rule the WWE, but women do play a key role with fans and have story lines all their own. Four-time WWE champ Mickie James says hulking superstars like John Cena and Randy Orton respect them.

"The guys recognize we work just as hard as they do," said James, who'll gun for her fifth title on Friday when she faces current champ Maryse at Tullio Arena. Cena, meanwhile, squares off against Orton in the night's marquee match.

"We're on the road with them, we're traveling with them. We're in the matches every night, just like them," said James. "They recognize that and give us a lot of respect. In such a male-dominated sport, to be recognized and treated as just as tough and as an equal is really an honor."

Superstar Cena is one of her road pals.

"I hang out with John. He's a sweetheart, and he's very personable," James said. "He hangs out with everybody as well. Usually, he's more laid back. He doesn't really go to the clubs. It's kind of hard for him to go out when you know you will get mobbed.

"I can only imagine being on that level. When I go out, I get mini-mobbed, in comparison. I've seen him get attacked, and I'm like 'Oh, my God, how does he deal with that?' He can't do anything, go to the beach and chill. But he's cool. He's awesome, a real good friend of mine. I love John to death."

James arrived on the WWE scene following an extensive climb in other circuits and immediately became immersed in an elaborate story arc. For a year, she worshipped champ Trish Stratus from afar, then became a psycho stalker of sorts. At one point, she tried to plant a kiss on her.

They finally clashed for the title in 2006 with James winning.

"It was kind of a 'Single White Female' deal through the whole story line," James said. "You'd think the crowd would have totally hated me, and there were those who hated me at the time, but also those who loved me.

"The fans embraced it. They recognized it's entertainment. There were so many different moments we had throughout the story line that were classic and very daring and edgy. At the same time, it was so captivating it kind of sucked you in."

James grew up a tomboy on a horse farm in Virginia, so becoming a wrestler was no huge surprise to her. She watched wrestling at home with her father and brothers, and when she worked at a bar, she made sure WWE events played on the TV. A fellow worker noticed.

"This guy who was working as a bouncer was like, 'You love this. You're athletic. You should go do this. I have a friend with a school in D.C. Go check it out.'"

She did, learning the ropes and competing while also taking college courses online, just in case.

"You get restless, you start to worry, 'OK, what if nothing happens? What if I don't make it to TV?' So I signed up for school.' And, ironically, my first day of school was also the day I debuted on TV. That was beautiful."

She earned a bachelor's in business administration with a concentration in operations management.

"I think that'll be really good if I want to start my own business outside of wrestling. You have to recognize you can't do this forever. It takes a toll on your body."

Like Cena --who is doing "The Marine 2" -- she wouldn't mind expanding into movies or TV. James did enjoy one guest stint as a villain on the cable TV series "Psych."

"I played a devilish roller-derby villain chick, and I got murdered by my circle of evil friends," James said. "That was a lot of fun."

Fun takes a back seat in the ring. Though matches are scripted, they are physical, and the pain is real. James says the limelight is worth it. She learned that the night she defeated Stratus for her first title.

"That was overwhelming. It was such a fabulous feeling, it was almost surreal," James said. "You work so hard for so long to get somewhere, and when the time comes and you have this mega-moment in the history of your life, it can take your breath away."

Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer was asked by a reader during his radio show (available here) why WWE has not utilized Mick Foley on television more frequently since his return to the organization last November. He said this is due to wrestler/executive Paul 'Triple H' Levesque's lobbying, who is resentful of "The Hardcore Legend."

Meltzer reports Levesque deprecates Foley whenever his name is broached in creative meetings. While Brian Gewirtz, WWE's Senior Vice President of Creative Writing, feels Foley is creative and a good performer, Levesque thinks otherwise. He says Foley 'doesn't look tough' and can't be taken seriously as an in-ring performer.

A former WWE creative writer told Power Slam in 2008 under the condition of anonymity that Levesque would disparage Foley whenever he appeared for the company, and in the process, diminished his value in the eyes of Vince and Stephanie McMahon.

"Foley is an out-of-shape nobody," Levesque was reported as saying by the writer. "No one cares about him at all. Funaki puts more asses in the seats than Foley does. He should pay us for coming on our shows."

Meltzer believes the real reason Levesque still holds Foley in contempt is because he gets irritated over the consensus of his closest co-workers that his memorable matches with Foley in 2000 "made him a star."

Foley has criticized Levesque in the past; he took several veiled shots at The Game in his 2007 autobiography The Hardcore Diaries. He also took issue online with Levesque belittling ring announcer Lilian Garcia with a remark he felt was hurtful during an April 2010 episode of Raw. Foley acknowledged then that he may have cost himself professionally, but felt he had to stand by his principles.

Lauper made several appearances at the World Wrestling Federation's "Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection" events in 1984 and 1985, including the inaugural WrestleMania event. Managing Wendi Richter against Leilani Kai, their entrance music was "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."
