i used to take time to listen to her on t.v. years back. however the whole Rev Dollar agenda never sunk into my wanting to get into the church philosophy. i do know they live good and oft times wonder what either of them (creflo or taffi) would say if someone called their prayer line(s) and asked for financial help if unable to donate or give.

well, they certainly are harmless in retrospect and certainly in context to what's on t.v. now!

i think my mother was a little upset about good times because of the "j.j." character and the fact that the family was living in the projects. she spent her late teen years living in the projects before she married my father and moved away from michigan - bad memories. she had done her best to keep us out of the projects, and i think that to the extent that there were very few 'black' shows at the time, she didn't care for that particular representation of black people (though personally, i think it could have been much worse). i think if good times had been a drama that was more serious about the plight of the black underclass, she might have felt differently(?), i don't know. but when the show was re-run in syndication, we were older and watched it, and she didn't care at that point.

as for sanford and son, she didn't like "fred's" use of the "n-word" and his racist attitude toward everyone who wasn't black (although that was certainly balanced by "lamont" who always pointed out "fred's" poor behavior to him), and probably by the fact that she knew of redd foxx's blue standup routine. yes, i know, apples and oranges, but i was far too young to argue!
