TLANTA (AP) — Megachurch pastor and televangelist Creflo Dollar was arrested early Friday after authorities say he slightly hurt his 15-year-old daughter in a fight at his metro Atlanta home.

Fayette County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of domestic violence at the home in unincorporated Fayette County around 1 a.m., Investigator Brent Rowan said. The 50-year-old pastor and his daughter were arguing over whether she could go to a party when Dollar "got physical" with her, leaving her with "superficial injuries," Rowan said.

Dollar faces misdemeanor charges of simple battery and cruelty to children. He bonded out of Fayette County jail Friday morning.

"As a father I love my children and I always have their best interest at heart at all times, and I would never use my hand to ever cause bodily harm to my children," Dollar said in a statement released by his lawyer Nikki Bonner. "The facts in this case will be handled privately to further protect my children. My family thanks you for your prayers and continued support."

Dollar will make no further comments since he's involved in an ongoing criminal matter, but he is expected to preach Sunday, Bonner said.

Dollar leads Creflo Dollar Ministries and is the pastor for World Changers Church International in College Park, which serves nearly 30,000 members, according to the church's website. World Changers Church-New York hosts over 6,000 worshippers each week, the website says. There are also four satellite churches in Georgia and others in Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Washington, Cleveland, Dallas and Houston.

He and his wife Taffi, a co-pastor at the church, have five children, according to the website.

Known for his pinstriped suits and charismatic sermons, Dollar was among a group of high-profile ministers whom Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley urged in 2007 to answer questions about their spending, board oversight and involvement in for-profit businesses.

The six televangelists targeted in the investigation preach some form of the prosperity gospel, which teaches that God wants to bless the faithful with earthly riches. Ministers in this tradition often hold up their own wealth as evidence that the teaching works.

Dollar resisted answering questions, comparing Grassley's inquiries into church governance with questioning churchgoers about their prayers and confessions. The investigation wrapped up in January 2011 with no penalties for the pastors who refused to cooperate and no definitive findings of wrongdoing.

Was the 15 year old trying to leave the house around 1 in morning to go to the party or was she just getting home from a party Creflo told her not to go to? (follow that?)

For some reason I need to know that. If she was just trying to leave at 1 in the morning......All I can say is Creflo is nothing like my father. If any one of us had tried to LEAVE home at that time AND age it would've gotten ugly real fast. Uglier than it got at Creflos.

Now if she was just getting home......that's very disrespectful and not a good look (if he told her not to go), but that's not nearly as bad. IMO. But I could see Creflo flipping out....

Anyway, yeah choking is bad, but she's definitely fortunate to be alive because if I were her and hit one of my parents; I'm pretty sure either I wouldn't be alive or have any teeth.

He's a con pastor. lol And his daughter is probably a bad kid judging on the fact this girl was determined to go to some party.

yeah see reverend dollar shoulda met my friend who (only once) threatened her (now going to universities) kids that she'd put on a mask in the middle of the night with a flashlight under her sheet, and tell them if the defied her no's then she would come to their room at 3:00am and scare the b-jeebees out of them. well seems as though they pretty much respected her no's. and both kids are doing wonderful grade-wise at their seperate universities.

Scary Sku...<<<mask she kept on her closet shelf in plain sight.

(i told her she was "crazy" with a smile. she said to me, "the cops can't arrest me for acting ugly when they do!.")

I'm not into a whole lot of handwringing about kids who have to face consequences because of their actions. Oh well. The biggest bullshit line I've heard during the latter 20th century is, unconditional love. You can divorce a child just like you can divorce a man. Some children think parents have to take or put up with their foolishness no matter what... I'm not that type of a mother. talk to the hand

I sure as hell had my ass handed to me a few times whenever i got out

of line with my mother. I even remember getting into a debate here before

over the same topic. It's fine if some don't believe in displining their kids

with a belt or taking away some of their privileges with a hard line stance

but if you're living under my roof there are rules to abide by and if you don't

want to you can go live somewhere else.

You haven't felt the need to run to some psychiatrist whining, my mommy hit me. shake

I don't get this attitude that kids have some type leverage to negotiate anything. confused My mother use to say, "beacause I said so dammit." End of story.

I feel you. nod

I am not one of those mothers that dumps their kids on aunty/grandma/neighbor/mailman/stanger up stairs....

all the time just to "be free" to do what I need to do, then magically expect a kid to listen to me all the sudden when the child maybe spends one day a week with me because I am too b usy doing me.

Bitches are outta their minds when they dump their kids too much on others and expect kids to be well behaved and easy-going when they become teens. Pssh, that recipe is one for disaster on repeat.

ESPECIALLY with girls.... shit if a girl learns to cook her own food, and handle all her own needs by age 8, then what the hell she gotta listen to her momma for? DUH!

My sister did that mess, making her daughter all independant way too soon and making take babygirl care of her younger siblings, now that same child is a college dropout single mother stipper. Great JOB sis!!! rolleyes

Don't have kids if you expect other people to raise them for you. mad

I would love to ask some of these women; why did you bother having children? We have a generation of kids who've "raised themselves". This issue goes beyond ethnicity, race, and class. These fools have children than don't won't to be bothered. Once again my rule: Everyone has to rasie their own children so think long and hard before you go there; this grandmother ain't helping. lol

And there it is

of all the changes which have taken place in our society since i was a child, the adult vs child dynamic is the one i believe is one of the sadder and most detrimental changes.

i was laughing the other day about the time my brother and i were arguing in the backseat of the car. my mom was driving and her friend was on the passenger side. my mother had told us countless times to knock it off, and said that if we opened our mouths one more time, she was going to put our asses out. and she sure did, too. she came back and got us after we had some time to think about it. we got back in the car, and she got no more trouble out of us.

there was no 'cross-examination' in our house, either. it was 'because she said so', period. our mother used to send us up to eat at the big boy restaurant and tell us we could get a hamburger and fries. we were about 7 and 8, but we knew how to behave in public, and we knew damn sure to get what she told us to get for lunch and brought her back her change.

it was like that at school, too. i can't imagine treating my teachers the way i hear some kids treat theirs these days. and there used to be what i call 'adult space'. when your mother's friends came over, and they wanted to talk about 'adult' stuff or just not have you there, you were told to go to the bedroom or go outside and play. parents these days don't seem to do that sort of thing anymore, at least not the adults i know who have kids. you're trying to have a conversation, and there's some kid sitting there, all up in the discussion. there are no boundaries. don't get me started on the parents who complain about the t.v. shows. if you don't want your kids watching something, then tell them they can't watch it, period. my mother told us we couldn't watch 'good times' or 'sandford and son', so guess what? we didn't. there was no such thing as a parental lock in those days. she was the 'parental lock'. why don't people want to raise their kids anymore?

Hello!

It takes my sister-in-law who teaches elementary education in Chicago to talk about the behavior of the children and the parents. As she said, the kids are fine many of them would be great if they didn't have parent.s stuck on stupid. disbelief
