The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons: I'm Gay

"The Big Bang Theory" star Jim Parsons has come out as gay, via a New York Times story that pretty casually mentions his sexuality. In a profile of the Emmy-winning actor published Wednesday (May 23), the Times writes, "Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship." Zap2it reached out to Parsons' publicist for comment but hasn't heard back. The line is part of a story about Parsons readying for the June 14 Broadway opening of "Harvey." In the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, he will play Elwood P. Dowd, a mild-mannered man with an invisible friend, a 6-foot-tall rabbit. The play was adapted into a 1950 film that earned Jimmy Stewart an Academy Award nomination. As far as any comparisons between his performance and Stewart's, Parsons is realistic. "People may not like me as Elwood, people may say 'I enjoyed Jimmy Stewart more' ... There's nothing I can do about that. But I have to come in and take a stand on the performance." Parsons has never denied he's gay, but he's also kept his private life private. He offers no other details about his relationship in the Times story. | |

I can't get into the show for some reason... it tries too hard to be funny in a nerdy way and...eh, it's just not working. Though it's good seeing Blossom on the show... (but that's the only plus I'll really give it). Oddly, folks thought it was Andy Galecki that was the gay dude. But I never believed he was. Jim by comparison didn't even need to say it, like the Rude Boys would say, "it's written all over his face". | |
