Ah man. I LOOOOVE Attack The Block. Really looking foward to the sequel. Not sure how anything relating to aliens in the hood could be considered predictable. lol

Yeah I liked it too. That what got me to reading the books.

i don't like changes, and it was bad enough goin

away from the book to the movie.

if these movie weere done in animation

(cg) they could better stay on the TRUE

story line...

READ THE BOOKS

the vampire chronicles

are well worth the price.

ESSPEACIALLY if you like history.

He was too old by then nobody would have bought it. Weren't people hating him by then, I forgot when he started jumping on couches? I'd probably never watched it in anime. The color and texture of the film were part of it's overall appeal. Interview with the Vampire was the best book. Anne definitely does her research, which made the other books worthwhile.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I'm only halfway through (it was one of those I started watching while I was doing stuff around the house to prepare for Christmas)- but so far, it's alright, about a 3/ star star star star star , and great if you're in the mood for a dysfunctional family drama with an indie feel- runs along in a similar vein as movies like "Palindrome", "The Ice Storm", "Little Miss Sunshine" or even the Showtime movie I posted earlier "Good Fences".

I find my self asking myself as of late "Do I really need to subject myself to this?" lol

That said... 4 star of 5

While a lot of shots were quite beautiful...in the end it felt a bit obnoxious and I wanted to poke my eyes out with knitting needles. neutral

sigh

disbelief

This was me earlier this morning;

Me: "Kids, let's go to the movies!"
KDZ: "Yeah!"

Me: "Wanna go see Mission Impossible?"

KDZ: "Nah."

Me: "Wanna go see TinTin?"

KDZ: "Nah."

Me: "How about I Bought A Zoo?"

KDZ: "Nope."

Me: "Uhm...you don't want to go see the Chipmunks, right?"

KDZ: "Yay! Yay! The Chipmunks!"

Me: faint

I fell asleep midway through it. Can't really rate it.

Have you heard of Amazon, Google or Netflix?

They all make money letting people rate what they know.

RottenTomatoes, a movie rating/review site is very reliable. For me, and certainly millions of others.

I guess I'm offended because such a statement is so uninformed.

We watched "F/X" last night. That's a great movie!

BTW, when I look at the stuff Sextonseven watches, I feel very, very inadequate!

I saw 'F/X' in the theater when it was released. I thought it was very underrated.

It's still enjoyable to watch.

Good movie, great acting! 4/5

I LOVED "Revolutionary Road." As a kid, I thouht the '50s were like "Leave it to Beaver," but as I matured and learned about history and life generally, it's apparent that a LOT of stuff was happening and brewing in the '50s. And in suburban life and in "perfect" homes even today.

The acting is brilliant.

A companion type movie would be "Pleasantville."

And since Leo was in "Revolutionary Road," I'm reminded of "Inception," which I've seen about 5 times now because was recently on repeat on HBO.

The Gruffalo's Child. It was shown on BBC on Christmas day. It's the sequel to The Gruffalo & is based on a children's book by Julia Donaldson. If you have children, they will absolutely love this, especially if they already know the book. It's filled with rhyme & repetition & it is just wonderful! biggrin

I watched Page Eight today, which was bound to at least be decent unless everyone in the cast forgot how to act (Rachel Weisz, Bill Nighy, Michael Gambon, Judy Davis, Ewen Bremmer, Ralph Fiennes, Alice Krige). Thankfully, it was better than decent. Very British in its pace and tone. But it did this interesting thing with the storytelling where it kept doing little loops back on itself. A lot of movies have done that with larger loops, or one big one, where they tell you something major and then work back to how it happened. Well this movie kept assuming that you knew why something had just happened, or was currently happening, and then five minutes later you would realize why you knew it. Hard to explain, but it worked very well for me. Unfortunately, not the greatest, most believable ending, but still a really fun watch (and its only 90 minutes, which actually felt a bit short because I liked all the characters). I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

5/5!!!!

Awesome awesome movie!!! Saw it with my parents. My mom used to read the stories of TinTin when she was young. I used to watch the cartoon series..

The animation was AMAZING!!! Almost didn't feel like an animated movie. And the adventure....

The things found in dreams! cloud9

Only thing that kinda messed me off is...I remember TinTin's dog's name was "Milou". They changed his name to "Snowey" in the film. Don't know what's up with that. Also...I thought it was mostly french cartoon (since the creator is Belgic) , while the theme in the movie makes it British. But oh well, I still loved it and I can't WAIT for the next movie.

Bring on the adventure!!!! biggrin

The Dubai scenes made it worthwhile.

The "nuclear-terrorist-about-to-destroy-the-world" plot was done better by James Bond back in the 80's.

Melancholia (2011) - Typical Lars von Trier downer about a pair of sisters facing the end of the world. There is a lot to like about this film in terms of imagery, mood and overall sense of style, but ultimately, it left me a little cold. star star star 1/2 (out of five)

Finally saw this. Its not my favorite by him by a long shot, but I still liked it. Excellent performances by both Dunst & Gainsbourg. But after Antichrist I was expecting something a bit more overt. This was metaphorical but oddly still straight to the point. Antichrist he allowed himself to go a bit into Lynch-land in terms of the dreamlike psychological interpretive openness of the finale. I agree with your rating though, 3 1/2-4 stars is what I'd give it too.

Change it one more time..

So you like the brutal stuff, eh?

Nooowwww I know why you kinda wanted to see A Serbian Film! Well if you haven't seen it, that's about as brutal as you can possibly get on film. I think the warning on the streaming site where you can watch it said something like "you've been warned, if you choose to watch it then you're on your own and god help you" lol

I'm too chicken to watch the brutal movies. I have to be in a really dark Scorpion mood to watch the hard stuff that's especially wrenching.

I loved this movie for the reasons you didn't, but it still felt a bit off for some reason. I'd agree that it isn't his best, but I was pleased that he was trying something so different.
