And you still gave it 3 stars? lol

I didn't think it was terrible, but most critics are giving this movie five stars. confused 6/10 or slightly above average is an accurate summary of how I felt about it.

I was thinking about your review the entire time I was watching it. lol

well. i WAS watching 'Monkey Shines', in an attempt to round out my knowledge of campy 1980s horror films. the movie was quite promising. a genetically enhanced, super intelligent animal (capuchin moneky), is trained to assist a wheelchair-bound protagonist.

now, at the start of the movie they made sure to alert the viewer to the fact that no monkeys were harmed. which i felt was classy. but, alas, they made no such promises as to the parakeet and rat also in the film.

the rat was tortured by the threat of drowning in what seemed an interminably long scene featuring thepoor little critter swimming around in a fishtank full of water, and the parakeet 'attack' scene was so completely silly (frightened bird, flapping, terrified), that it did not prepare me for the bird's actual death.

that was a REAL dead parakeet, folks. and i am hard put to discern how the director could have come up with a dead parakeet whose coloring matched the living bird in the film, specifically for that scene. sadly, it does appear that consideration for the parakeet was not a priority, and the bird really was killed. those assholes.

SO, i stopped watching the fucking movie. NOT cool.

negative five stars rating, from me.

In Bruges (2008) - Two Irish hitmen spend a forced holiday in Bruges, Belgium after a botched job. I can't recommend this movie enough--very funny, yet very sad and very irreverent. It's one of my favorite Christmas movies ever. star star star star star

That's excellent praise for the writer (and maybe the actor too). To write a multi-faceted character that's not clearly good or bad but instead simply human is one of the hardest things of all.

2/5 I watched it to the end. It had the Inspirational movie feel, which I don't go for much. I read the book years ago and the movie made me feel the same as the book. It doesn't reflect the world I see around me. These perfect innovative people who never abuse, misuse or exploit but are honest, intelligent and hardworking (rich) while everybody else is riding the coattail of their genius. And how the world would crumble without them. BS.

we need to talk about kevin (2011)

a destructive mother & son relationship that ends up impacting their lives, as well as others, horribly. it's a slowburner but excellent nevertheless. great performances from both Tilda & Ezra. 4/5

Both detectives on a sickening murder case struggle with being alone and childless in their 40s. As they investigate the young man found beaten and strangled to death, platonic friends Karine and Herve unravel a love story between Vincent, and Rebecca a high school girl. The teenage lovers quickly plunged into the kind of amour fou the flics fear to chance for themselves. Rebecca is missing, and unknown to her, the boy was a homosexual Internet hustler. The ordinarily blasé male investigator is appalled to find that on-line dating is a world the sexy Karine knows well. Is Rebecca the killer, another victim or ?

I thought it was ok. I would give it 3 stars too. I wouldn't say it's Oscar worthy, but the scenery in Kauai is gorgeous and so is George wink It was better than all those lame ass romantic comedies that we' keep getting bombarded with.

I think I may sue Costner for it, he made a guarantee on Letterman that if we watched it we would like it.

It was very good. This is more theatre than your typical horror flick that relies on special effects.

Gonna try and catch "Week With Marilyn" this week.
