Firefox and its upcoming versions I wonder for those who are Firefox lovers have tried anything above 4. I'm at 5 and I think because of the BETA features of it that it is very hard to use when watching videos or seeing animated images. I wonder if the ALPHA versions that have been out are any better... has anybody updated their Firefox recently to Firefox 5 or 6 or whatever? |

I think Firefox has kinda jumped the shark at this point honestly. The just can't seem to get it together.
I only ever use it now when I need to access certain sites that apparently don't like Google too much.
Yes, I know this post is pretty much useless and doesn't answer the question. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day |

Well to be frank, I've been using Opera more often lately. It's much more customable. |

Yeah, I updated mine to version 5 a month or two ago. It didn't even like the Google toolbar, which I absolutely have to have. Luckily, I found a way to get around it. Other than that, all of my other add-ins continued to work just fine. |

That's interesting. I hardly use toolbars on mine's but yeah there were no distractions from the add-ons I got though the DownloadHelper one I had to figure out lol |

Me either. It's stable for me. I run 5.0 on Win7. It's the only browser I use unless I have to access the state tax agency. They only accept IE |

I'm on 5; pissed that it has messed with my Real Player and Macafee extensions. [Edited 8/5/11 15:35pm] "I know that living with u baby, was sometimes hard...but I'm willing 2 give it another try.

I'm guessing it depends on what extensions you have in the browser. Because I know it does for me. |

Yes. There are so many add-ons that it's unlikely that they'll all work with every version but FF usually tells you which ones have issues/are incompatible with it. |

I divorced FF after 4...er...3....after a long time of service. It stopped working when I added the wifi router to the house. A friend online suggested I use Chrome. Funny thing, I started using Chrome and that seemed to fix whatever was wrong with FF. I just never went back, though. I only use it when something says Chrome isn't compatible, or I'm working with Entrecard and blog networking.
I had to give up certain add ons, but I rarely have all the crashes FF had. Chrome loads a little faster, too. [Edited 8/5/11 16:07pm] |

I've never even tried that before.
I'm kinda tempted to download it but who really needs that many browsers? And it'd be that many because I refuse to delete Chrome or FF.
And you can customize your Chrome if you're willing to put in a little time and know where to look...

Yeah, XP I have no idea about; the only other OS I used Chrome with was Vista on my desktop computer and it looked fine and ran alright on there. Right now I'm using Windows 7 and it's the same thing there too.
I seriously fighting the urge to download Opera now like, "You don't need another one, stop it". "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day |

LOL if you don't download Opera it's okay. I had the same dilemma with Chrome and Safari and thought "forget it". |

I know it's okay not to, I'm just addicted to downloading way more browsers and apps than I need; you should've seen how many add-ons I had on FF on my old computer. I had like four different translators, a World-Clock, and a bunch of other shit I can't even remember now. I always wanna try everything. I was like that on my old computer too (of course because then I didn't know my drive was already full it kept slowing down lol) but I've learned to be resistant in my latest one. |

I just did; I'm surprised how fast it runs, I was expecting it to drag. So now that means FF is the shittiest browser after IE.

It really has turned shitty. I went on it today and was surprised how much it drags compared to Opera and Chrome. But yeah Opera definitely is faster. And yeah you're not the only one who remembered when Firefox was the shit. 2006 was a really good year. |

I know. I very seldom use Firefox for actual surfing now; I usually turn it on only to go to Tinychat.
FF still has everyone beat when it comes to browser designs though, and add-ons and the ease of installing said add-ons. At this point I think those are the only things still keeping FF in the race; once Chrome becomes more user-friendly in that respect, it's Game Over.
*points to Opera*
