Do you have a phone with a QWERTY keyboard? Texting doesn't feel like much effort for me - in fact, it takes less out of me than trying to have a phone conversation.

no, and I am sure that is part of it, I use a regular phone.

But if I was trying to explain something in detail I would rather not even email on a full sized computer, I feel I could explain myself plus gauge their reaction better if we're talking

Texting seems like a good way to say something brief ("out at bar") but I would much rather be talking to you right now than typing

Do you type quickly?

I can type almost as fast as I can speak (90 WPM), and it doesn't drain nearly as much of my energy as talking does. But maybe that's more due to the Vocal Cord Dysfunction (remember the pictures of my vagina throat from the hospital last year??) and the fact that talking too much takes a lot out of me now.

I do appreciate writing over speaking, sometimes, particularly the backspace button!

Grab a book. Open it to a full page. Get out a timer, some paper and a pen. Start the timer and copy the entire page to paper by printing it. Then do the same thing in cursive. I'd be willing to bet the cursive will take less time and be of a more uniform quality from beginning to end.

Plus, it just looks cool.

Actually, I just did that--not with a book, but with term papers.

I was able to mark and critique papers in a fraction of the time. I think I'm at least 2 1/2 quicker with cursive!
