Nope, he didn't.

Remember when he said that the twirly object never falls when he's dreaming? Well, it didn't lol and you're right, me & my husband went back & fourth with this.

I don't know if its for any significance but by the end, he wasn't wearing his wedding ring either hmmm which tells me that Nolan is enjoy his lil' mind games he threw on us.

I absolutely love the movie, I've watched it 3 times to break it down and each time I'm fascinated(and have discovered new details),,,,you know Nolan was on some other shit when he took the time to do this project. Nobody I know seemed to enjoy it though lol

Ah see,,, most of my friends are in the same camp as you. They think he didn't make it out of dreamland. However, wink the twirly object was moreso teetering and on the cusp of falling down/over. Remember in earlier parts of the film, whenever Leo twirled it...it was a smooth and even spin...no wobbling whatsoever. In the last scene of the film, the twirly object did not spin smoothly and looked to be toppling at any moment. There was also the fact that he got to see his children's faces....before... he could never see their faces. I spotted the absence of the wedding ring which also added to the possibility of him making it back to reality.

One friend had a totally different take and believed all of the characters died in the van when it crased into the water. hmmm Now that would be a sorry ass ending

I want to be clear, are you talking best performances or the best movies they were involved in?

Leonardo DiCaprio - The Departed (movie) Gilbert Grape (performance)

Denzel Washington - Glory (movie) performance (Training Day)*

Meryl Streep - Sophie's Choice (performance) movie (Kramer Vs Kramer)

Angela Bassett - What's Love Got To Do With It (both)

Sidney Poitier - performance (A Raisin In The Sun) movie (In The Heat of The Night)

Michael Douglas - Wall Street (both)

* I loved his performance and the acting in Malcolm X but I hated the movie.

This isn't the right thread to talk about this, but I will say that the real story is much more explosive and eye opening than the movie ever revealed.

It is a fair argument, and I once felt that the movie cheated the book by not staying faithful to it(even though its almost next to impossible to tell a story about such a complex man in a few hours anyway). The upside to it was though(to me) is that, the film re-introduced the younger masses back to the book.

I've watched the film a million times, but I didn't pursue the book until I was 26, all thanx to my love for the film.

I'll run with this list with everything except Streep:

there is no comparison to Sophie's Choice. Too intricate. Too many layers. Streep is a beast at her craft in this film rose
