Books Books Books (A Book thread?) If there was already a thread like this in the past little while, forgive me.
So I got around to going to a bookstore today, of course whenever I get the urge to read something this place never has what I'm looking for, So I ended up buying one and ordering another, so it's on it's way. What's everyone else reading or is on your list to read? I'll start! what I got today ...and what's on the way (I am not myself these days by josh kilmer-purcell) *just incase you can't read the cover, I didn't use large pix* & you'll follow in behind! 12/05/2011

the boy in the striped pyjamas was excellent, broke my heart. i was speechless 4 ages after reading it- and 4 me that is a miracle my heart still races when i think of this novel, yrs after i first read it i love the fact that when ppl talk about it- they dont give anything away-it would so spoil the story. i want to watch the movie, and i dont eant to watch it seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

His descriptions of the story of Lot from the bible in that book are hilarious. I found myself laughing out loud, but I'm prejudiced cause I hate that story and it's twisted moral ethics to begin with.

I'm only 10 pages into this one, but I haven't laughed so hard
in just the first opening pages of a book before in my life. This is renewing my love of sci-fi. I would agree with the critics, the McDevitt is the logical heir of Asimov and Clark Feels almost like you're watching a film noir/pulp fiction hybrid set in Bangkok. A very entertaining read I read multiple books at the same time

Angels came to his house disguised as men, and he let them stay with him. The villagers of Sodom (those villagers just loooooved buttsex) came to his house demanding to have sex with the 'visitors'. Lot, so offended by the prospect that his guests would have to have sex with other men, offered his daughters up "for the villagers to do as they pleased" cause it's better to perform statutory rape on unwilling girls you know than to have sex with other men. Anyways, God destroys Sodom cause I guess the buttsex and loud House music and t-parties were disturbing the villages within earshot. Lot's wife looks back towards Sodom as they were leaving, and was turned into a pillar of Salt. I'm unsure why an all powerful God couldn't destroy Sodom but spare Lot's family of his fury, even if they looked back at the destruction while it was occuring, but meh... he's god and that's that. Finally, when Lot and his daughters make it to safety, to continue the bloodline, they get their father drunk on wine and have sex with him. Remember: This fucked up family was God's chosen... The only moral people in Sodom

I decided I was an atheist at about age 13. |

I'm not 100% sure what the plot is yet But it's about a super obese, super rich Russian business man who is also very reclusive, and has these eccentric friends. It's satire I'm told. The first few pages him and one of his American ex-patriot friends like to get together and do 'Rap Kereoke' Take a wild guess what super rich Russians and their white, middle class American friends have to rap about. It's alot of fun.
