i think it's more fun to watch season by season on DVD than having to wait for a new episode every week.

I did the same thing with Twin peaks i was in college when twin peaks was first broadcast on television. it would come on saturday nights, and there'd always be a twin peaks party at someone's house, then we'd talk about it all week until the next episode/party. i don't think i've ever had so much fun watching a tv series as i did with that show.

I saw the final episode at first when i was 8, it scared the shit out of me and i ddidnt understand anything, but i was very fascinated and it changed my imagination forever. I watched the reruns now and then, but was too scared sometimes. When i finally was old enough too dare watching, it didnt run on swedish TV anymore, so i waited very long for the second season on DVD, that was very painfull. I agree, Lost is quite amazing. One of the examples for the quality of US television shows nowadays.
But I'm so scared the explanations for all that's happening will be hugely underwhelming. But until then, it's an amazing ride. Did you start at the begninning, Gimmesomehorns? Where are you now?

Like a supermarket trash novel that's kinda gripping and gets you through a visa run at least, but you know it's certainly not 'art'.

I couldn't disagree more. The waiting is part of the fun! I'm glad I've been watching since the beginning, because I love the anticipation of the next week's episode. I cherish the days at work where we try to figure out what happened last episode and what's going to happen on the next. More than a show, it's a weekly event. Without the time spent to absorb everything and mull over it, I don't think I'd love it as much. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I havde to agree on this. Thugh the wait is part of the mad fun of it all. I have folks who are marathoning from season one and you have to wonder if they become endeared to the same characters I am after watching and rewatching for 4 years now. Christian Zombie Vampires

I really really disagree with that. There are many things that make LOST transcend your typical TV show. If there is anything close to being an artform on TV, Lost gets very very close. Christian Zombie Vampires

The first few episodes of season 3 are the worst. It seemed to have lost its direction. However, since that season's episode "Flashes Before Your Eyes," it has been outstanding! They've been answering questions consistently (while raising others, of course). As I suspected, the series was invigorated when they announced the end date, because you could see how everything is building towards the final answers. As much as I loved season 1, season 4 and the last 2/3 of season 3 are even better IMO. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Lot is also great because they sometimes reference past scifi and horror tv shows and movies with their music cues and set pieces. It's a pastiche of childhood memories for me , or it was, watching those first few seasons... My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Lost, on the other hand, I still find fascinating after 4 confusing series.

Another fan!
As most know, I've been a huge Lost fan since day one. I always need a fantasy/sci fi element in the shows I watch and of course Lost has that in spades. Are you still on season one? If you think that season is confusing...it only gets better/worse! Who are your favourite characters? (Please don't say Jack )
