Yes it's possible, but if you lift weights you speed it up and you'll also end up with a nicer shaped body than when you don't lift weights. BTW, I don't think you need to do a lot of lifting. 30 minutes of lifting and after your weight training about 30 minutes of cardio should do the trick.
