Can you see the Milky Way from where you live ?

Nope. Tis beautiful though.

I heard a couple of years ago some Russian millionaire bought the rights to be the first to do sky advertising on some future satellite. I so hope that was just some stupid rumor.

No, it is overcast tonight...not because it's gonna rain or anything fun like that, just because it is natures way of teasing us like that. mad

Well I'm not an astronomy expert but I always thought EVERY star we can see with a naked eye belongs to the Milky Way neutral

Without getting too P&R-ish, I just can't imagine anyone looking at that and thinking, "Yep - all that happened by some unexplainable accident."

That's how I've always understood it too, but apparently both are correct:

"Some sources hold that, strictly speaking, the term "Milky Way" should refer exclusively to the band of light, while the full name Milky Way Galaxy, or alternatively the Galaxy should be used to describe our galaxy as a whole.[2][3][4] It is unclear how widespread the usage of this convention is, however, and the term "Milky Way" is routinely used in either context."

That picture is beautiful mach, it is nearly four pm here and the weather is rather horrible so I doubt the sky here will look as stunning as where you are sad

I found a Milky Way outside once.
Half of it had been stepped on, but the other half was still good.
I like the nuget.
At least, I think it was nuget.

as far as I'm informed we are in the Milky Way ... but the view (which is probably a nebula of some sort) is so beautiful that I want to be there right now sad
