A prayer for victims of abuse.....in memory of Lisa

My cousin Lisa is in a coma in the hospital right now. She is brain dead. She was beat up real bad by her boyfriend to the point where she suffered internal bleeding. I just talked to my other cousin Sonya and she said that the doctors said her body is shutting down. On top of that she was pregnant when this happened.

Many of you know my experience with domestic abuse and this is hitting me really really hard. My cousin made all kinds of bad choices in this life. But like many people, she was running from her pain. She would run off and do her thing, we'd not hear from her for a while, she'd show back up and then run off again and we wouldn't hear from her for another while.

She went up north to try and make a better life for herself and got with another person who was going to hurt her. Many people just look at someone like my cousin and say well she made her choices and now she has to live with them and yes she made her choices, but she's still my family and I love her no matter how flawed she was. I just wish that she would have been able to heal herself instead of this.

My cousin said she was going to her mom's house to talk about making arrangements because they don't believe in keeping her body alive the way it is right now. I can't believe this is happening. Please pray for me and my family.

I am a survivor of domestic violence.

Being beaten by a man is NOT love, it's hate, anger, power and control, etc. You are not losing one person, but 2 people - Lisa and the unborn child. I hope that boyfriend goes to jail for a very long time. Karma will take care of him in due course.

Supa... my heart got stuck in my throat when I saw this thread and I thought "oh no, don't let anything have happened to Richard again". It did and I'm so very sorry, more than I can say. I will keep you and your cousin and her unborn baby in my thoughts, and since I do believe in revenge I will also entertain a hope that the asshole gets his dues sooner rather than later.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, wishes and prayers. Your friendships mean the world to me. I just found this out last night when I came home. My mom said the doctors were going to try and deliver the baby so I don't know if that means it is able to survive or not. That would be somethin huh? I'll let you know if that is the case.
