Yes you're right about The Stones. They patched everything up (somewhat) before they got in. I remember Debbie Harry let everyone onstage to speak but she refused to have some of the originals jam with her. She wanted the current lineup to play only.

The HOF wants the original 4 KISS members to play but Gene and Paul want the current lineup only (to jam). So that's some of the friction with both camps.

...the peers I'm referring to (and they all deserved it) is Aerosmith, Van Halen, Alice Cooper and recently Rush.

so, that's the REAL MAIN reason??

wow, at this point of their career (TWILIGHT) Simmons and Stanley should have learned to chill just a lil bit neutral

I think that Eric and Vinnie would be eligible, they debuted as members more than twenty-five years ago and Vinnie deserves it for his contribution to Revenge. cool

Screw Ace, I want to see the return of the Ankh!

Oh for real? I think Ace, Peter, Gene, Paul and the HOF need to sort this out. Like have the originals accept the induction and then if Gene and Paul are still adamant about having their current lineup perform with them, let them. I'm sure that will be easy.

Yeah..But it was cool to see the other members of G&R graciously accept the induction and jam out. We (and the band members) all knew that Axl's ass wasn't showing up. And when Sly showed

up (fashionably late as always) it was the original S&T.F.S band.

Now Van Halen's induction was a major embarrasment and letdown. But that's my opinion.

but, what's your point?

that Kiss should not be included because Simmons is an asshole and the band has often been as campy as Spinal Tap?

No Stradlin and not sure why.

Stradlin wrote the majority of the songs, people that were ther like Marc Canters can tell you that. Axl wrote the lyrics. They were lucky to have Slash on guitar he is one of the top guitarists in the world but neither party(Axl/Slash) has done better than when Stradlin was on board.

Izzy's a recluse. As far as I know he's cool with all the originals (he even shows up at Axl's shows) but he wasn't going to go. It's like when Frusciante didn't go to accept his induction with the Chili Peppers. He loved them but he was too busy with his career to accept.

hey wait..hold up

When A Man Loves A Woman is one of the greatest songs of all time...great enough to best some bands whole careers...

see this is what I was talking about initially..with the doo-wop bands, the rnb-ers, the popsters etc

these songs from back then INSPIRED so much other talent to enter the field of rock n roll

its not all about playing an instrument..or even writing your own song....its about the package thats presented and to disregard Percy is the slippery slope, the sticky wicket, the any other cliche, that is going to lead to the path of erasing the rock around the clock chuck berry lil richard ...soup...that yes..lead to Kiss...lead to Rush...lead to PE......lead to MJ.....lead to Madonna....lead to Tiny fuckin Tim.

to bring that to note..his performance on the show of said song brought a tear to my eye just as much as U2 brought my hands up with a song from their concert.

As an influnece aside, I besiege (sp?) folks to youtube the Bette Midler performance of this song from The Rose...not her doing it elsewhere concert but from the actual movie performance

The deal about it is that in 1979, The Rose, came out. A thinly vieled character study on a Janis Joplin like singer. Now, in one of the performances she sings this song..the crowd goes wild but even more wild were my parents watching this..when the band and Rose began the song and my folks recognized what the song was, they flipped the fuck out...in a surprising yet good way. They had not expected this soul, yet universal I guess, song to be sung by this wild haired rock tazmanian she-devil. This reaction from a much older generation.

That one song is more rock than anyone realizes.
