The "titty fiasco"? It was only a "fiasco" because the media made it out to be. When I initially watched the show, I had to ask myself did I see what I just thought I saw...it was just that quick. Of course it's going to be a fiasco when you have every news outlet blowing the freeze frame of it up of 1,000 times the size and airing it 20 times a day, the hypocrites in middle-America claiming their kids were blinded and scarred for life for seeing something that gives nourishment to babies, and a conservative administration (cough-Bush/Powell-cough) sending out the lynchmob to deem Janet the antichrist because of a .5 second flash of her nipple-shielded breast. The rock band Garbage's song "Sex is Not the Enemy" was based around the 2004 SB incident. Shirley Manson of Garbage said it best:
"Sex Is Not the Enemy" was influenced by the February 1, 2004 Super Bowl Halftime controversy, when Manson noticed that the incident was featured on the USA Today cover for three days in a row with no mention of the Iraq War. You seem to have so much vitriol for a woman who has done nothing but put feet on the dancefloor and smiles to millions of faces. What has Janet ever done to you? Might I suggest the Escapade Shep Pettibone mix to get you in a better mood?
Miss You Much and Escapade Shep Pettibone mixes are amazing, I wish they were remembered and getting airplay today like the LAP and Express Yourself mixes, and Vogue which was inspired by MYM

It looks like Madonna is thinking in her head ( ok I got to lift my leg over my head and then ohhh turn around and do a cartwheel and then grab my crotch next to this dancer and then kneel down and clap my hands to look like I’m having a good time …) – no flow whatsoever and quite awkward.
- But on the plus side – her new song has grown on me.

Yep. Supposedly Shep created this mix for Miss You Much, then produced Vogue for Madonna a little later, giving her song the same beat with a little tweaking.

Yeah, Jody and Karyn were bad, too. Jody's "Still a Thrill" was the first video to feature vogueing or "wacking".
Jody really doesn't get her credit, Madonna was very inspired by her, Jody had vogued in a music video before her, it was in the clubs before. I agree. I believe they had the same agent for a time, which is probably part of the reason. Jody's song "Most of All" was even penned by former Madonna collaborator Pat Leonard, and it totally has that Pat Leonard sound Madonna was known for back then. And you're right, Jody was vogueing before errbody . Janet also featured vogueing in a couple of her videos and performances. She and her dancers are vogueing in Alright, and there are two male dancers vogueing in the Escapade video.

Seanman back in defense of Janet! Madonna's catty remark aside, there really shouldn't be any competition between the two of them--they are both entertainment performers who have made their marks in musical history and don't have any more to prove. I enjoy both of them and appreciate many of their musical contributions to pop history with or without any Superbowl controversies.

Michael DID try to change but he was afraid of how it would be perceived. He did change his Billie Jean choreography somewhat on his tours.
My thing is with Michael, his moves were a "trademark" so maybe he felt if he stepped out of that trademark, he wouldn't wanna read the reviews of how he "changed so much".
He was never gonna do what Madonna did and I wouldn't expect him to even if he was alive right now.

sometimes i wonder re: janet and justin, if they were trying to do something on stage as unexpected as tina and mick. however everything went wrong due to the wardrobe malfunction. i really feel it was just that! problem is, janet to the major brunt of the media's backlash.

And yeah, Madonna can kiss my ass y'all. The stage and set were pretty awesome, and the last number was moving. But I really wasn't impressed by anything else. That Cleopatra intro made Elizabeth in heaven go "Is this bitch serious??"
Janet's performance as far as I'm concerned was superior. The dancing alone kills it. Its a shame people still focus on that titty mishap. Jeez people, get over it. It was just a wardrobe malfunction.

Delete the "wardrobe malfunction" from Janet's performance and hers was totally forgettable. It was the same typical 'cut 'n paste' number she does at every award show. If you see one Janet performance, you've pretty much seen them all. I find her very predictable and boring. When Justin Timberlake came out and performed "Rock Your Body," he basically upstaged her.

I had Celebration on my itunes but it got deleted for No Reason. I was playing it often, but hated the songs Celebration and Revolver (Lil Wayne, really?). I have a Celebration T-shirt though, I like the image they used for the cover, it's iconic.

Have you lost yo mind? Justin Timberlake upstaged WHO? With that dusty ass black jacket and those worn-for-a-week khakis he was wearing (not to mention he needed a shave in the worse way), the only people he was upstaging that night in 2004 were the local hobos hanging out around Reliant Stadium.
Neither J nor M have the greatest voices in the world, but even if I were to concede M had a better halftime show -- and I skipped it like I do most SB Halftime shows -- Janet's just a better dancer and better performer.
