I definitely agree with thesexofit. The estate and Sony aren't marketing any of these releases to the fanbase or music fans. They're marketing them to casual listeners and kids. Fans would drool over a huge boxset dedicated to Off The Wall or that cancelled 5.1 surround sound edition of Thriller but instead, we get bullshit

I think he left behind a lot of unreleased material. Not a vault of thousands of tapes, but I think he left behind enough music for a couple of albums and inclusions on boxsets. Hell, they could release a set with just demos and I'd be happy lol

I do think MJ has quite a few records kept away, but I highly believe a lot of them are just demos and unfinished. If I could estimate, this is how I would predict the finished (unreleased) records from each session

Off The Wall - I'm guessing between 7-10 finished outtakes

Thriller - Not including the leaked songs, but between 10-15 finished outtakes

Bad - Between 7-10 finished outtakes

Dangerous - Well over 30 finished outtakes

HIStory - About 3-7 finished outtakes

Invincible - Well over 20 finished outtakes

I say "finished" because I think the rest are unfinished lyrics and melodies. Not including songs recorded for no particular album

I would LOVE to hear any outtakes from Off The Wall but I have a feeling there really isn't that many. I don't think the production for OTW took that long plus Quincy probably rejected demos submitted before MJ did any vocals on them. My guess is there might be 2 outtakes we haven't heard from OTW. That's about it. And they probably aren't that strong.

We still don't know everything , and the freaking estate hasn't given us any information regarding that issue , I really need to know how many songs are finished , and how many aren't !

Last time I heard , the estate is still searching for material and asking producers to hand and disclose any material Mj did with them , we don't know if they collected the whole material or not !

it's pretty depressing , I need to know lol

Well, watch back today's testimony. That will help you calm down cause the defence is presenting false evidence and witnesses who do not respond in cross examination and have to be admonished by the judge. Today was just unbelievable. eek

It was originally recorded in 1978 for Destiny but I think it was considered for Triumph too. That and "Slipped Away" has always been on my list. There's a couple of outtakes that I would love to hear RIGHT NOW

Slipped Away

Groove Of Midnight

A Place With No Name

the original version of Behind The Mask

Under Your Skin

Tomboy

The Price of Fame
Michael McKeller

I Am A Loser

i Would love for them releasing the "unfinished" or "demos",

i quite enjoy the demos that were put out on this is it, and the few that was on the off the wall special edition.

i honestly just want them to release EVERYTHING.

I remember Can I Live and thinking it's overproduced, but once I loved it, I ended up buying the album, and remember Sisqo being inspired by OTW and Thriller. I definitely heard the influence on some of the other album cuts and liked those better. I had no clue it was offered to MJ though. That R.Kelly is song is really pretty, would have made a really nice HIStory cut though YANA has a meaningful message too.

Though I want justice for MJ so badly, I already know neither outcome is going to bring him back, and knowing you're responsible for MJ's death is a life sentence itself. He won't even get the time he deserves.

With the estate confirming that a 25th anniversary edition of Bad is on the way, how would you guys like to see it released? In a deluxe boxset (more expensive) or would you like to see them do a simple re-release with a few outtakes similar to the 2001 special edition (cheaper)

Been away for a few days so am catching up on a few things....

BAD 25th Anniversary - give it some love I say. We've already had the special editions, give us the true deluxe boxset - with demos, remixes, unreleased stuff.

Look at how U2 are rereleasing Actung Baby as a guide for how things should be done.

Michael's music deserves proper attention to detail in pulling together serious boxsets.

There has to be a Bad tour in Wembley released, with all good quality released performances, or I will NOT be a happy camper! And every Bad outtake has been very satisfying, so I wan to hear more of those.

Mike did confirm that outtakes like "Thank You For Life" and "Why Can't I Be" sound similar to "The Girl is Mine".

I'd love to hear Destiny, OTW and Triumph outtakes. There so close to eachother in terms of recording sessions so i'm sure they're pretty funky!

I wonder if we'll ever get to hear any of these demos and outtakes. Who knows what the Estate has in their possession. And they could easily update these songs and we'll never get to hear the original's as they were left.

Why can't the Estate just release a boxed set of unreleased songs left untouched? I don't understand what the Estate is waiting for. Just release what they have. We probably won't hear Buffalo Bill until 2025 and it will be remixed by whatever artist is popular at the time.

I was re-listening to Can I Live after so long today, and he sings something about wanting Privacy! I wonder if this song was MJ's inspiration for writing Privacy for himself, or if this song was written with MJ in mind after he wrote his song.

I believe we will hear a lot of the demos but expect them to be remixed and over-produced. Just not sure when we'll get them. I think every fan is dying to hear Buffalo Bill! All we know is the hook...

If you're going to update a song in the vault, why not also give us the original version as it was left? Case in point, Behind The Mask. That was released as a single. So why not include as a B-side the original version circa 1982? I don't get it.
